I had my second growth scan yesterday and it's left me more worried than I was before I went. Baby has had quite a big jump up the centile lines. My first growth scan was at 25 weeks exactly. Estimated weight of 724g/1lb9oz. Yesterday at 27+4 estimated weight was 1029g/2lb10oz. Surely it's not 'normal' for a baby to jump up the centile lines that much in 18 days?! 😕

Had a GTT Friday, never had one before but my Dad developed type 2 since my last baby, should I be preparing myself for that to come back positive do you think?

I'll attach my chart so you can see the jump. My biggest baby was 6lb3 so I'm a bit worried its an indicator something isnt right at being told this one is on track to be over 9lb!

@sashastuck thank you for replying, no other symptoms and babies been moving well which puts my mind at ease! Just so scary isnt it x

@PartRadish thank you, this makes sense and hopefully mine is the same! Im definitely staying in bed all day today!

I don't know much about all the charts as I'm pregnant with my first but my midwife said providing you are within those lines then absolutely fine as both the tape measure and scans can be slightly out, which I just think how annoying! Its 2023 can't they build something accurate?! If you are still worried I would speak to your midwife and see if you can have another scan in a week to make sure growth is all ok and adding up perhaps? This pregnancy malarkey is all so scary and worrying isnt it! X

RG9895 · 22/10/2023 11:10

@PartRadish also looking on pregnancy plus app the average weight for 25 weeks is 1.7lbs and for 28 weeks its 2.7lbs so does seem they gain a few bit within just a few weeks! I had a growth scan at 27+5 and bubba was measuring 2.8lbs so similar to you they told me that was 45th percentile. Honestly how they work things out confuses the hell out of me! I know easier said than done by try not to stress out too much it seems ok to me xx

Dannic2018 · 22/10/2023 11:46

Morning all. Is any of your babas not as active during the night ?
ours isn’t a party animal and usually has a few movement’s then she starts around 6 ish. Well I’ve had a really achy tummy yesterday, felt a bit like trapped wind and pressure and last night from when I went to bed till this morning she hardly moved but I was getting a lot of pressure tightening. I wanted to ring the hospital but I had my ds attached to me and the hospital is quite far away so thought I’d wait and see how she was this morning. She has moved loads but do you think I should still go and get checked? Constant bloody worry 😩

Mushroo · 22/10/2023 14:48

If anyone is near Manchester, I just got free tickets to the baby and toddler show - code was ‘insta17’.

It’s the weekend of the 18th November.

Mushroo · 22/10/2023 14:49

@Dannic2018 how many weeeks are you? It sounds a bit like Braxton hicks. If you’re worried though and it’s usual for you I’d give triage a call and see what they say

Dannic2018 · 22/10/2023 17:54

@Mushroo I’m 29+2. I ended up getting myself upset so went in and she’s absolutely fine, very active and all my vitals are ok too. But I am definitely having braxton hicks now so need to keep a eye if they more regular and painful. I just have a feeling this baba won’t be late like my other 3. They certainly like to keep us on our toes don’t they. Oh and got told to rest more as I’m doing too much…. I’m a Mam of 3 already and renovating our house, rest what’s that! 🤣

buckingmad · 22/10/2023 18:07

@Dannic2018 ive been getting strong braxton hicks too and am almost 29 weeks. I have a similar feeling that this baby will be on the earlier side but I don’t know if that is just because I’ll be 38 weeks on Christmas Day and it would be just typical to give birth then! Waters broke with DD at 39 weeks but a slow labour meant she didn’t arrive until 39+3

Mummyme87 · 22/10/2023 20:09

@PartRadish dont get too hung up on the growth jumping at this stage, 18 days is a short time frame between scans. Your dad getting type 2 diabetes wouldn’t even trigger as a risk factor at my trust for GDM.

im also getting braxton hicks, so uncomfortable and causes vaginal pressure aswell which is lovely 😖

LozzieLoo · 22/10/2023 22:11

I’m still not sure if baby has a pattern of movement or kicks that I could say with any certainty (I’m 27 weeks).
Read the positive birth company book today though so I’m feeling a bit more confident in what to expect! All a bit daunting as a FTM.

FirstT1meMum · 22/10/2023 22:27

@LozzieLoo I'm 29 weeks and still not 100% sure either!
It is so overwhelming as a FTM! Glad I'm not the only one feeling that way. Had a couple of moments this week worrying about different things like how do we know how much she needs to eat?!

LittleAlien24 · 22/10/2023 23:44

Im 28+2 and only regularity with baby's movements is that most of the times he's moving after i eat 😁

Does anyone have any recommendations for baby monitors (with camera)? I wanted to get just simple baby monitors but DH wants with camera lol

We’ve used a simple vtech one with DD, has video and sound plus says the temp although I think it’s often a few degrees out but at least gives an idea.

Mummyme87 · 23/10/2023 07:18

I’m not convinced I have a pattern of movements either, I just know he’s fairly active all day.

my midwife colleague had her second baby at work the other day, the midwife who was looking after her was 32weeks pregnant also, her waters broke in the room whilst she was providing care and she delivered fairly quickly afterwards! She has the same name as me so everyone though it was me 😬😬

lilluce95 · 23/10/2023 07:43

Marking my place, thank you x

lilluce95 · 23/10/2023 07:48

I've also not really established a pattern yet but I'm only 26+4 and she does generally seem more active in the morning and at night!

Has anyone experience pelvic girdle pain? I'm suffering quite a lot with it this week and not sure how to relieve it 😕 I'm normally a fairly active person so it's quite frustrating x

Mummyme87 · 23/10/2023 07:52

@lilluce95 yes bad PGP for a good few weeks now. It’s quite debilitating, the belt I got I don’t find helps but it’s something to try, avoid over extending your pelvis open which will worsen it. You can ask for a physio referral from your midwife or see a chiropractor privately.

LozzieLoo · 23/10/2023 07:58

@FirstT1meMum so much to try to get your head around with lots of different opinions too!

I still need to buy a monitor too, think I’m going to wait until the Black Friday sales and hopefully get one from Amazon.

lilluce95 · 23/10/2023 08:42

@Mummyme87 ahh that's good to know. Thank you so much! Is it likely to subside over the next few weeks? I know everyone is different though.

I'm also waiting for the Black Friday sales to get some bits too 😂 picked up some MAM bottles from Argos for £35 instead of £50 the other day too!

Matildahoney · 23/10/2023 09:05

@lilluce95 I'm seeing my chiropractor today and she's a pregnancy specialist in it so I'll ask her. I'm suffering the same, midwife said take paracetamol to ease it, rest but keep moving, get up and move around every 30mins.

Mummyme87 · 23/10/2023 09:40

@lilluce95 PGP doesn’t usually get better, usually continues or worsens as the pregnancy progresses. It’s caused by relaxin, a hormone that loosens all the ligaments, plus the weight of the pregnancy. Some women are lucky and don’t get it at all

Salamander91 · 23/10/2023 09:58

I'm really struggling with finding a pattern. I'm 29+5 today and somedays he is really active and somedays he's really quiet it's pretty 50/50. I ended up having a good sob to my husband last night because he was having a quiet day and I was like how am I supposed to know if its his usual quiet day or somethings wrong? DH ended up giving him a talking to and bambino rewarded me with a few punches to the bladder 😂

RG9895 · 23/10/2023 10:06

Im 29 weeks tomorrow and also struggle with a pattern! Im just telling myself its normal for them to have crazy days and quiet days especially if a lot of us get this, but if she doesn't kick for a good few hours then I would go get checked just to be on the safe side! I've been 3 times already but as long as shes ok I dont care how many times i go at this rate lol yesterday she was crazy all day and all night! Couldn't get back to sleep after a wee last night for the first time cos her wiggling! I think shes finally having a sleep this morning. I also panic and freak out over movements too and cry to my husband. I'm glad we arent alone and are in this together. I keep telling myself it will be so worth it when they are here 💕

HopeAndStrength · 23/10/2023 11:15

Thanks for sharing about movements and patterns (or lack of). I'm 26 weeks and also finding baby has quiet days and active days at the moment. Usually get a few reassuring kicks after a big meal, but not guaranteed!
Starting to look ahead at birth (first time mum) and reading about hypnobirthing.

sashastuck · 23/10/2023 12:07

I echo what everyone has said about struggling to find a pattern/getting upset about movements. On Tuesday he had such a quiet day and I was also crying to DH that I was confused over what’s normal etc. He has not stopped moving since that night!! I wonder if when they’re having a growth spurt they go quiet as I know someone due the same day as me and she had the exact same situation.
as lovely as it is feeling all this movement I know it’ll just make me even more nervous when he next goes quiet. I’m turning 30 weeks later this week!😍
