@Kalodin hoping everything goes well for you
@Mummyme87 sorry to hear about your pain, hopefully you'll get some help and relief
@Hummusanddipdip all the best to your mum and speedy recovery to your son. Sorry to hear about your dog. I know it's a tough decision but the kindest and most loveable thing we can do for them is to let them go before they start suffering too much. All the best for tomorrow.

I've had pubic pain on and off for a while but the last few days it's constant. Even when i just lie down and during the night. Have my ob appointment tomorrow so luckily not too long to wait but im worried about my cervix length, thinking could the pain be a reason of a shortening cervix.

LozzieLoo · 24/10/2023 06:57

Aww @Hummusanddipdip you’ve had a proper shitty week!
hope you’re mum is on the mend now and so sorry to hear about your dog.

Hope everyone’s appointments today go smoothly 🤞

buckingmad · 24/10/2023 07:39

Does anyone have any experience with night terrors and toddlers?

If DD wakes during the night she normally just calls for me, I go in, we cuddle and she goes straight back to sleep. But a few times now she’s woken screaming and I go in and she’s inconsolable. Screaming something (last night was “not this one”) and after maybe 30 mins it’s like a switch and I can finally get through to her, have a cuddle and go to sleep.

DH thinks it’s just cause she wanted to come in our bed (which I’m not budging on as baby will most likely end up cosleeping) and is having a tantrum but I dunno, it just feels different. My little brother had them at a similar age so have asked mum what he did to see if it sounds similar.

Kalodin · 24/10/2023 07:50

Yes both mine have experienced them @buckingmad They seem to be linked to change for both of them, when they moved to a different nursery room or I had been away longer than expected etc. But sometimes they just seemed random. We never really found what to do, we just sat by their sides speaking reassuringly until they seem to come round and then we help comfort them further then. Is horrible though isn't it, really hope it was just a one off.

Hummusanddipdip · 24/10/2023 08:01

Thank you everyone for the comments. Dh and I have agreed our old man doesnt need to be scanned, he's not good, but equally he isn't bad either, with him being a chihuahua and 2kg, there's a chance he wont wake from sedation at his age, so we're going to keep him comfy, keep him on his pain meds and once he's showing signs of the life he's living isn't good enough anymore, we'll say goodbye.

Ds is fine now, who knew d&v could last over a week 🤦‍♀️ mums ok, we find out more Friday, I'm just trying to stay positive, her and dad are doing an amazing job of it!!

They're the worst @buckingmad ds used to get them in clusters every few weeks betwee 2 and 3 and then they stopped, but he's had a couple since he started school.
My brother had them too and my parents got him a cuddly toy who "ate" bad dreams, which seemed to help, we tried it with ds, but was a bit hit and miss, so I used to get into bed with him and just cuddle him, singing lullabies until he settled. I can't anymore (he's in a mid riser) and they started again in September, so we reintroduced the "bad dream eater" teddy and it has been more successful this time round. Touch wood he hadn't had one for 4 weeks.

I hadn't even made the the changes link that @Kalodin has mentioned! There's probably something in that! As between 2 and 3 we had a lot of changes (I went back to work after covid and then changed job/working hours, we moved house, nursery rooms changed and starting school this year) maybe there is a link between changes and the unknown of them that causes them?

buckingmad · 24/10/2023 08:33

@Kalodin @Hummusanddipdip thank you both. She moved rooms a while ago and settled really well but they have moved rooms again temporarily into the preschool room whilst their room has a revamp so maybe this is it! Plus I was away for a few nights last week which is very rare.

Was just horrible seeing her scream like that and being powerless! She’s such a happy little toddler too so it’s almost worse when she’s not.

Bims2019 · 24/10/2023 09:30

@Hummusanddipdip that sounds like the best thing you can do, it's so difficult with pets and of course you don't ever want them to be in pain. Hope your doggy is as comfortable as he can be at home.

Is anyone else wondering how on earth they're going to make it through work over the next few weeks until maternity leave starts? 😂 I'm 30 weeks today, have just got over one cold but feel like another one is coming after a bad nights sleep. My work is really flexible and I'm only going in to the office 1 or 2 days a week, so don't feel I can really complain. But even sitting and concentrating at home is a struggle. I'm supposed to be working up to Christmas but not sure that's going to happen!

RootsHere · 24/10/2023 09:40

Our 3 year old had night terrors for a week or two a while ago, it's so awful as there's nothing you can do for them. Seems to have passed for now, and long may that continue.

Had my 28 week midwife appointment yeaterday, done the bloods and got the whooping cough vaccine. I remember it being awful last time, my arm was so sore and useless for days, but this time nothing! Slept on it and all. GTT and Flu done too, Covid jab later today, and then that should be it for bloods and needles until birth 🤞 Annoyingly I am a fainter so it's a big milestone for me!

Also got my MAT B1 form yesterday which I have now sent off to my manager to kick off the official admin. Requested the start date of the mat leave to be 3 days after my due date 😂 I was a week late with DD so hoping it works out this time too. I wfh and currently enjoying a low stress period at work so might as well work as long as possible.

Onedayatatime24 · 24/10/2023 10:03

@Bims2019 Yes! I am struggling with motivation at work big time. I am so over it. Tired, can't concentrate, so much else to think about and also just can't be arsed. Got to train my cover from next week too which I know is going to be draining. Honestly would start mat leave tomorrow if it wasn't for the money! I'm literally counting the days (48 working days left 😂).

suz2285 · 24/10/2023 10:04

@Bims2019 i'm in the office today already feeling achy from sitting in this chair and so unmotivated, i've got loads to do and I rarely have a day where I feel productive but I've got urgent things that need done before Christmas, like you i'm planning to work until the 18th Dec! But also with 12 odd weeks of growing bump left to go! Luckily I don't have to be in the office every day! I will likely need to ask for help to complete all the exams at the end of the year as I don't think it'll be much fun trying to cope with it all on my own!

Mushroo · 24/10/2023 10:21

Another one who is completely over work. I work from home so can’t even complain I just can’t focus.

My manager has very nicely amended my targets slightly so I’ve already met them, but that’s dwindled my motivation even further!

I finish on the 13 December and I’m counting down!

Vikki7 · 24/10/2023 10:58

Down to single digits today! 9 weeks and 6 days 🩵🥹

How are you getting on today @Kalodin? Hope things have settled down now 🤞

TunnocksTCake · 24/10/2023 12:34

@Mummyme87 Ive got awful PGP now too, walking to the car park I use for work which is usually an easy 7 minute walk caused me to get bad shooting pains in my lower belly yesterday. I have physio (originally for pelvic floor but so glad ive got it booked now) next week and counting down the days. My friend who also suffered really badly is lending me a belt that was recommended by her physio specifically for hip pain so I will let you know how I get on with that. called an Emma-Jane maternity belt if you want to look it up.

Im still waiting on a growth scan, was referred a couple of weeks ago now so might chase up.

We had an awful week last week, DD woke up one day and couldnt stand on one of her legs, She'd been at nursery the day before so I had no real idea if she had hurt herself. Took her to A&E and they said she had hurt her knee but nothing serious, lucky it is all better now but it took a good few days which is unusual for her (she's 3 and usually bounces back quickly!)
I also had a migraine on the Tuesday night which was AWFUL, and randomly was sick Thursday night - I think I have reached the point where I cant eat too much due to space baby is taking up which is very sad! Oh and I had thrush to top it all off! Oh the joys!!

Im really struggling with work too, interviewing my 'replacements' this week, one good option so far and one no show which was irritating. 7 weeks left today and counting...

buckingmad · 24/10/2023 13:38

@TunnocksTCake ive been waiting on a growth scan too and got a call today for Saturday morning. Def worth giving them a call. If it’s like my trust then your details are on a card which can easily get lost.

Kalodin · 24/10/2023 13:40

Thanks @PartRadish I think things have, still here on the labour ward but nothings progressed. Cervix still looks closed on speculum. But haven't seen a Dr since 3am when I was first admitted (or a MW for past 4 hours) so I'm guessing that's a good sign! Just wish I knew what was happening, rather a long journey back home and i'll need to sort a lift.
.

Kalodin · 24/10/2023 14:50

Ah feel bad now, I pressed the buzzer to call a MW to ask what's happening and this woman came in and apologised that they're really short staffed and no ones had the chance to look at my notes yet since I've been transferred here last night.

LittleAlien24 · 24/10/2023 15:43

Had my OB appointment today. All good. He is 1200g and head down in a perfect position for birth (im having csection so unfortunately not that important to me) so that's why my pubic bone been so sore. Cervix is still the same length and closed so ob is quite positive that it will stay like that until the end. He wasn't moving and was covering his face with his hand and a leg lol ob tried to shake my belly but nope nothing, well until the minute i left the ob then he started kicking 😁

Kalodin · 24/10/2023 16:20

Ah that's great news @LittleAlien24 And that's a great weight too isn't it?

Hummusanddipdip · 24/10/2023 17:05

Dont feel bad @Kalodin you weren't to know!

That is good news @LittleAlien24 I'm guessing you're around 28 weeks too?

Had my gap scan, just waiting to see the consultant.
Baby is head down and weight is 1220g which puts him on the 64th percentile for now, so everyone is happy. I've got another scan at the end of November at 32 weeks, so will see how he's doing then.

Bims2019 · 24/10/2023 17:28

@Vikki7 that's so exciting! Can't believe we're getting down to single figures now.

Glad everyone with checks and growths scans are doing well, it's such a worrying time anyway without the additional stress.

@TunnocksTCake that does sound like a truly awful week! Glad your DD is on the mend, you can really do without all that stuff. I'm the same with meals, they have to be smaller now or I can't finish them, which is very sad.

@Onedayatatime24 @suz2285 @Mushroo glad I'm not the only but sorry you're all struggling too! I'm the same and would start mat leave asap if it wasn't for money, contemplating bringing it forward a week and taking a bit of annual leave. It's not much but might help! I do really like my job, and as I've not long started I want to make a good impression. But I'm also constantly aware of all the baby things I haven't done, so it's hard to care as much and find that motivation. We might be slow and get less done, but we can do it! 😂

FirstT1meMum · 24/10/2023 17:49

Glad it's not just me so done with work! Been doing phonics assessments this week and think I've been too hunched as top of my back is so achy! They've also appointed my cover so I need to organise things for them! Can't believe I've got 7 working weeks left (8 weeks with half term)! It's going so fast!

@Kalodin Glad everything seems to be okay!

WitcheryDivine · 24/10/2023 18:01

@Kalodin you shouldn't feel bad - keeping you hanging around for 12 hours isn't ideal really is it, you were entitled to ask what was going on at least! I was in triage last week for hours and hours for various reasons and if anything the midwives were too apologetic about the wait (for similar reasons i.e. drama happening left right and centre).

I am also fed up with work. I cannot wait to finish in many ways, although I'll miss my colleagues a lot. Everything is tiring and I don't want to spend all my time and energy on work when there are so many fundamentally more important things i need to sort out.

Luhou · 24/10/2023 18:02

5 days off work now and absolutely desperate for a break. The last two days have just flown by but I'm so so busy it's all getting a bit to much.

MrsJ6921 · 24/10/2023 18:05

I agree with everyone’s thoughts on working. I work 6 days days in my set with 4 rest days but I’m still SO tired! Luckily I only have 20 working days left until I’m off on AL/Mat leave. Very much looking forward to it!
