@Onedayatatime24 yeah staaarting to think about it, and I'm basically leaning the exact opposite way.

I am keen to have pain relief and basically get the whole thing done as quickly and "safely" as possible. My worry is if I start in the MLU and then have to move it might feel like a bit of a fail? Anecdotally I don't know anyone who's had an epidural who has regretted it, although there must be some people out there.

This all says nothing about what the right or wrong options are, and a lot more about my mindset!

Mushroo · 20/10/2023 14:36

@Lilothblos ah so glad you like them! I’ve recommended them to so many people I should get a commission but it’s genuinely all I’m wearing atm! 😂

Gremlin84 · 20/10/2023 14:40

A new fun pregnancy symptom to report - nose bleeds! Haven't had any since I was a kid, and now I've had two in the last week. Just randomly, no indication until I feel a bit sniffy, and then there's blood on the tissue. So not heavy at all but a bit of a shock until I remembered reading about them as a Pregnancy Thing.

Lilothblos · 20/10/2023 14:41

If anyone else is interested in tickets to the Baby Show Olympia London this weekend, I just managed to find a code for free tickets from Milton, there’s just a £2 transaction fee.

Link here, it said the first 20 people can get it and I’ve just got one, not sure how many left:
https://babyshowolympia.seetickets.com/tour/the-baby-show?offercode=EX-Milton

@Mummyme87 did you happen to see if they had any sort of discount on the Fox 5? And any freebies around or is it more of a shopping experience?

Flossiepot · 20/10/2023 14:42

Yes @Gremlin84 I'm the same this week, blew my nose a few times and had blood on the tissue.
My heartburn is ridiculous now too, getting it quite bad after anything I eat now - does anyone have any good remedies? I'm having Rennies and some Gaviscon with evening meal but don't want to overdo those.

Mummyme87 · 20/10/2023 14:59

@Onedayatatime24 my aim is to avoid epidural this time. Had it both times previously which I had wanted to avoid but it was needed at the time. It stopped working towards the end second time which was hideous. Possibly use the pool on labour ward if it’s all up and running, not 100% however as think the continuous monitoring may be a challenge as my BMI is raised. 100% tens machine, not against pethidine, hated it first time and loved it second time. and more focus on the hypnobirthing techniques

FirstT1meMum · 20/10/2023 17:06

Thank you for the tag! ❤️

I've had blood on the tissue when blowing my nose as well! WTF has some kind of bell gone off that we've all got this at the same time.

BTW @PartRadish I meant to say I also spent most of yesterday in triage! What fun eh. Hope you're feeling better now.

Whataretheodds · 20/10/2023 17:54

Oh the bleeding nose! More than once I've thrown the tissue in the loo, then gone for a wee, then freaked myself out seeing blood (having forgotten I blew my nose 2 minutes beforehand). Do not recommend!

TunnocksTCake · 20/10/2023 18:15

Sorry @Matildahoney what a horrid time.

I was wondering why I couldn't post on the other thread earlier!
Will catch up and come back later

Luhou · 20/10/2023 18:17

I've developed a bit of a cough this afternoon. DH had it for the last few days so was kind of waiting for it to arrive.

I'm feeling really poorly and getting quite bad chest pains. Would you be concerned?

Dannic2018 · 20/10/2023 18:20

Thanks for the tag!
This weather is horrendous I’ve not gone out at all today.
thinking of you @Matildahoney such hard news.
Hope everyone having the GTT goes ok. I felt ill after mine and pretty washed out but thankfully I was all clear.
Had my first blood thinner injection last night, hubby didn’t want to do it, I was crying because I didn’t want it but I closed my eyes and pulled my big girl pants up. Wasn’t as bad as I thought but only 100 and odd to go 🙄

Sambeaumont · 20/10/2023 18:31

@PartRadish thanks for the new thread xx

Onedayatatime24 · 20/10/2023 18:47

@WitcheryDivine to be fair I have no mum friends to ask so going off purely what I've read online where there are many many opinions 😂 so not ruling anything out and won't be a martyr if I need pain relief, then I will 100% have it!

@Mummyme87 I would like to avoid epidural too I think but not an absolute no, I've read good and bad things. Yes, definitely want to try the tens machine too. I've read not great things about pethidine and that it can effect baby, is this true? I'd love breastfeeding to work so want to try and avoid any disruption to that in the first couple hours after birth which is what's putting me off it as read it can make baby super sleepy? I've bought a hypnobirthing course so would love to go down that route but again, not going to put myself through huge amounts of pain if better relief if available and safe.

Hummusanddipdip · 20/10/2023 18:51

Thanks for the new thread @PartRadish

FirstT1meMum · 20/10/2023 18:54

I'm another one who has been getting blood when blowing nose (only really today and have been suffering with a terrible cold all week!).

@Matildahoney thinking of you, such a horrible stressful time ❤️

My sweet tooth has well and truly kicked in this last week or so! Found out while I was doing the dishes that DH had been to pick himself up a sandwich for lunch while I was at work munching a salad and I think my face said it all but he managed to get it he bought me a vanilla slice before I could say anything and now I can't stop thinking about it and can't wait to have my tea so I can devour it 🤣🤣

Snap 😂

Bims2019 · 20/10/2023 19:24

Marking my place 😊

Hope you're ok @Matildahoney

Just some bits from the last thread!

@lilluce95 oh you're not the only one! I've bought some cute sleep suits, that's about it 😂 we have now picked a pram and car seat though, hoping to get them soon. Good luck at the baby show, I hear they can be really useful for picking bits up!

@Luhou thanks for flagging about induction and pain relief, that's good to be aware of. Do you mind me asking what pain relief options you went for?

@mrsj6921 oh the third trimester tiredness has hit me too over the last few days. I was out all day at work yesterday so no naps, then fell asleep on the sofa after dinner. The struggle is real!

MrsJ6921 · 20/10/2023 20:20

We had an exciting call yesterday asking when we would like to pick our travel system and car seat(s) up as they had all arrived in store - we’re going tomorrow afternoon. They do a complimentary full build and car seat fitting too which made my DH happy as I’m not sure he could cope with building something else!

Safe to say our little Annabelle has everything waiting for her arrival now!

Matildahoney · 20/10/2023 20:29

Thank you all, she passed about 3pm 😭 I really wanted our baby to meet her, she was such an amazing nan.

Mummyme87 · 20/10/2023 20:39

I’m sorry @Matildahoney that’s so very sad. I hope it was peaceful.

@Onedayatatime24 pethidine can cause sleepiness in baby but only really if it’s given within an hour or two prior to birth, and it’s not usually a drug you would give at that stage. Even when women do birth soon after having it you rarely see any significant effects. However it’s not for everyone, but certainly wouldn’t rule it out. Hypnobirthing isn’t about giving birth without drugs, it’s a coping strategy that for some women is enough but others not quite

xLJ1990x · 20/10/2023 20:44

I've also had a sore/bleeding nose. Was thinking maybe it could also be the change in weather? We've had our heating on a lot more the last week

Luhou · 20/10/2023 21:21

@Bims2019 I had an epidural. Which I would do again, it took my pain away enough for me to nap while I dilated.

It was really a saving grace in the end as well as my DD head was turned in the wrong position, so they had to go in and do a manual turn - which without such an effective epidural they wouldn't of been able to do and think I'd been in theatre.

I did ultimately end up with a forcep delivery, and instrumental intervention is more likely with an epidural but that wouldn't put me of one again.

Luhou · 20/10/2023 21:23

On a much lighter note, 25% of tu clothing at the moment. Love sainsburys baby clothes. Going to go through everything and work out what I need over the weekend.

suz2285 · 20/10/2023 21:52

Marking my spot too 😂

@Gremlin84 my nose has been bleeding a bit too, nothing major but yeah 🤣
