3rd degree tear recovery stories

Hi All,

9 weeks ago I gave birth to my little one. I ended up with a forceps delivery and a 3b tear.

For weeks I suffered with urgency when needing a bm but this has now significantly reduced and some days it’s now non existent.

I’ve started physical therapy but I’m just wondering if there’s anything else I can do to help myself?

I’ve read some horror stories online that basically indicates I will end up bowel incontinent because of this injury when I reach menopause age? I’d love to hear from people older than me (31) who are ok 😞

I feel so broken in my body and mind by what’s happened.

@Jellycats4life
Did you heal up ok on your scan? 💗
What an awful thing to say! They obviously haven’t experienced childbirth trauma. Even if you didn’t tear there’s a whole heap of reasons why you might not want too.

Good on you for standing your ground! It’s not them that has to live with the consequences if something happened. Also why would you want another scar on your lady area I don’t see why that should of been a solution. I have an episiotomy and the scar from the tear and I hate it so much it looks awful 😢

Sorry to hear about your bowel issues. I have ibs and can sympathise.

x

@Mumofonexo I had my first (2nd degree plus episiotomy) at 28, second (full 3rd degree) at 30 and my third via c section at 33 - as earlier mentioned, I’m physically fine now. My sister had a full tear at 41 and, as far as I know, has no major issues. I know it’s easy for me to say now but please try to stop scaring yourself, chances are you’ll be fine….and if not there are ways you can be helped💐 ….ps once you’re recovered enough gentle Pilates is the best place to start.

@Blinkingbonkers
I’m actually surprised at how many ladies have experienced 3rd degree tears, it seems to be more common that I realised. And even though I’m not fully healed I’m feeling slightly more positive than I was a month ago reading everyone’s positive stories 💗 the thing is it’s so easy to find the negative stories on google!

Thank you 😊 I was looking at starting something in the new year hopefully when I’m a little more recovered. It will also be beneficial for my mental health x
