on similar note, about baby items, I wonder any recommendation for baby carrier? Or baby sling that attach baby on you. I have been browsing on Instagram and I am surprised it costs £200-500! Wonder i might not be looking at the right place! Thanks!

Ahhhh heartburn! Anyone else suffering, it's a new one for me!!
Any recommendations on what is safe to take? Might pop the pharmacy tomorrow!

I've been getting it but not quite that bad, the doctor will prescribe gaviscon if needed.

Cora24601 · 29/12/2023 21:47

@CB23CB @Mrsttcno1 I've had heartburn all of a sudden appear this week, I've never had it before (I think Christmas food hasn't helped!) and I've taken rennie before going to sleep at night. It has been worse at night for me. They are ok to take when pregnant. I'm sure you have both tried it but thought I would share.

Pinkstuffs · 29/12/2023 21:50

I suffer from heartburn when not pregnant so it has been relentless, @CB23CB @Mrsttcno1 the doctor can also prescribe omeprazole which is safe to take, it’s a lifesaver when gaviscon and Rennies don’t help.

ASGIRC · 29/12/2023 23:57

Regarding heartburn, not sure how universal this is, but some people swear by skin on almonds.
So if you like them, give them a try as well!

Fortunately no heartburn for me yet.
But I'm not counting my chickens with how this pregnancy has gone so far! 😂😂

chlo299 · 30/12/2023 05:39

Not sure if it will help with severe heartburn but it used to help me whenever I had it. Few sips of milk, just straight out the fridge not a glass but few gulps and it was all gone x can't relate luckily with pregnancy heartburn so fingers crossed x

Butterfliesandroses · 30/12/2023 12:34

It's my number one symptom and I find Rennies or milk help. Although it says something on the Rennie box about not consuming too much milk when taking Rennies so I try and choose one or the other!

Butterfliesandroses · 30/12/2023 12:35

Regarding carriers I had the Baby Bjorn One carrier with my first, which was great and I will be reusing it. I'm also going to try a sling library to get a soft sling, too x

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 30/12/2023 18:23

Heartburn is getting unbearable for me too now. Had it before pregnancy but it's relentless now at 23 weeks.

Rennies or milk help for about 10-20 minutes then it's back. Keeps waking me up every half hour too. It's not too bad when I'm not lying down but it's unbearable when I am. I can't sleep propped/sat up unfortunately, never could, so I'm getting desperate.

I'll be calling my doctor on Tuesday for an appointment for a prescription. Hopefully it works or god knows how I'll cope.

Also getting pelvic girdle pain now, sometimes can't put weight on my left leg because of it, so I need to ask for a PT referral I think before it fully cripples me.

I always have a glug of gaviscon before bed and it seems to do the trick- even if I don’t have heart burn as often would wake up with it before I did that. I also keep it by my bed, by the end of the last pregnancy I was drinking it through the night 🤣 once bump dropped towards the end it disappeared!

CB23CB · 31/12/2023 11:29

Thanks everyone! I've stocked up on the rennies for now. It wasn't as bad yesterday, just another pregnancy quirk I'm enjoying!

Wishing you all a wonderful new year. 2024 is going to be super exciting for us all 🎉

Mrsttcno1 · 31/12/2023 11:50

Has anyone else found that their movements/kicks have gotten a lot bigger/stronger since 24ish weeks? Obviously I knew they would as I got further along but my husband and I were sat last night literally just watching my tummy move. I wasn’t expecting them to get so strong so quickly but it is so lovely! X

BuzzybeeMum · 31/12/2023 16:06

I’ve never had indigestion/heartburn before in my life so I didn’t realise what it was for ages! I kept telling my husband I was getting “little bubbles in my throat” and eventually he realised what I was talking about. I find Gaviscon really helps but I’m trying not to take too much in case I become dependent on it/immune to it… is that a thing?! 😂

I’ve had more kicks since 24 weeks (26 weeks tomorrow) but I still have days where she kicks less. I got quite worried on Boxing Day and Christmas Day because she’d barely kicked and so I went into the maternity unit. They checked her heart rate and stuff and she was all fine, so they’ve just said to keep an eye on movement in case it happens again. She’s been moving about and kicking since then, so maybe it was just all the Christmas food!

sugarplum33 · 31/12/2023 16:35

@Mrsttcno1 I'm 24+4 and I've definitely noticed much bigger kicks in the last week and they're suddenly visible and make me jump. I still only really feel them around my placenta so just at the top, bottom and sides though 🤣

Yes. Since week 25 , I experienced more movements. In the beginning of the week, I felt like the baby outgrown my belly. As in a hard lump can be felt in certain part of the belly and would move through out the day. Where it poked out, I think I had this round ligament pain and it was very uncomfortable . I felt difficult to walk or in general. The pain would gone and moved to where the other area poked out. Then few days later, which is now, I felt OK! As in perhaps the belly has grown to give baby room. No more poking out or pain but still feel little kicks here and there throughout the day as a sign of baby is active. I did plan to go see GP in new year if the pain persists, but glad no pain anymore.

hope it helps!

SummerOak · 01/01/2024 12:39

Happy New Year everyone! April will be here in no time! Can't wait 😄
For me the baby is still kicking the same, maybe a little bit harder but not by much. Also haven't yet seen any kicks on the outside, I'm 25+3.
Does anyone get pain in their ribs? For the past few weeks I occasionally get pain in my right lower ribs. I know it's because they're being pushed out, but it can get really uncomfortable when I'm laying down.

theodora2146 · 01/01/2024 16:28

Happy new year everyone!

How often are we suppose to be feeling movements? I'm 23 weeks tomorrow and have felt movements everyday since about 20 weeks, some days the movements are more than other days and stronger is this normal at this stage?

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 01/01/2024 16:40

@theodora2146 there's no 'normal' at this stage per se.

Some women will feel regular movement, sometimes stronger on some days, some still won't be feeling much and some will be hosting the Olympics in there.

Regular, reliable movement isn't expected until around 27 weeks, so don't worry about it until then.

I'm also 23 weeks and feel movement every day. Like you, sometimes a bit more and sometimes a bit stronger. I can actually see kicks now, it's crazy

Thank you that's a bit more reassuring!

I've been looking up but all places like nhs and other sites say similar things.

BuzzybeeMum · 02/01/2024 19:58

Has anyone been feeling like they can’t eat as much? I don’t feel nauseous or anything like that… it’s just that I will get full really quickly and not be able to eat the full meal. I’m presuming it’s something to do with baby growing and pushing on the stomach or something?

chlo299 · 02/01/2024 20:01

@BuzzybeeMum I'm completely opposite been ok so far now I'm approaching 25weeks and today I feel like I could eat anything in my sight 😂

Pinkstuffs · 02/01/2024 21:18

My heartburn is so awful I’ve barely eaten today but went to the doctor and got an omeprazole prescription. He also prescribed me the biggest bottle of gaviscon I’ve ever seen, when I said I’d been buying it, so it was worth a 2 min phone call for that!

dory0 · 03/01/2024 08:53

I’ve been quiet on here for several weeks, hope everyone is doing ok!

Wondered if anyone had any advice - I had a 24 week check up with the midwife yesterday and my bump measurement was on the 10th percentile on the chart. She said only if under the 10th would do a growth scan and now I can’t help be worried that he’s not growing enough 😩 scan 4 weeks ago was absolutely fine, all average measurements and I know the tape measurements aren’t super accurate but do you think I should be worried or push for a scan? Thanks in advance ❤️

chlo299 · 03/01/2024 09:40

@dory0 I would push for a scan x it's best to be at peace. During mine last week the bump was bang on average however I didn't feel any movements at that point so the midwife told me to see the maternity unit where you can get the GTT test. It was supposed to be like and A&E sort of waiting but I got seen within 40mins and they confirmed that the baby is moving fine I just don't feel it as much yet. Maybe they can refer you there as well ?

Ttcmumma · 03/01/2024 10:36

@dory0 won't hurt to get a scan to check but just to reassure you, with my son my bump was always atleast 2 weeks behind all the way until the end. I got sent for the growth scans and he always measured bigger than he should! He was born at 38 weeks and 7lbs and is now a very tall 5 year old. Everyone's carries different and the babies tuck themselves away a lot of the time x
