@SummerOak I feel baby lying down on my back or side or sometimes when I’m sitting, although I had a few days last week when I didn’t feel much at all.

Is anyone else feeling exhausted? 20 weeks now and I was told I should be getting a boost of energy but some days I’m struggling to stay awake? I’m not sleeping too badly at night although still getting up to pee quite frequently, and the cat has started to spoon himself around my bump which is nice but means I can’t get comfortable!

SummerOak · 04/12/2023 16:39

@Pinkstuffs it's good to hear that it's normal to not feel them as much on some days. I'm 21+3 today and I had that energy boost last week, now I'm back to 0 energy. I guess it's all uos and downs. In general I do have more energy than in the 1st trimester, but not by a lot.

Ttcmumma · 04/12/2023 18:20

I personally plan my day around being able to nap 🤣 and usually fall asleep almost instantly after putting my 5 year old to bed. So definitely still tired! I'm 22 weeks now and feel little lady everyday, I don't actually know how she's so strong already but I think she's beating me up at this point 😅. My son drinks innocent smoothies sometimes and I've noticed if I drink one of those she moves almost every single time, random but might be worth a shot drinking something cold and a little sugary? She used to only move when I lay down on my back but now I'm feeling her on and off all day while I'm walking around, she's actually less active when I lay down now. They're all different and change all the time, we aren't at a stage of needing patterns yet so I wouldn't stress too much x

ASGIRC · 04/12/2023 18:43

@SummerOak Im close to 23 weeks now, and I feel her every day now, and can even see the kicks on my belly.
I dont need to be in any particular position to feel her, though I dont notice it as much if Im out and about.
But even then, some days I feel her more than others.

Eating and drinking makes no difference, though. She doesnt seem phased by it at all!

As for tiredness, I wasnt that tired in the 1st trimester, and I feel a bit less tired now, so Id say Im about back to "normal", though I still try to get more sleep, cause I know I need it!

sweetdreams23 · 04/12/2023 20:06

Had 20 week scan today and all went well! We didn’t find out if baby is a boy or girl as we are having a surprise just like last time. As for tiredness I’d say I’m back to normal levels. Seeing and feeling baby from the outside now which is amazing. Hope everyone else is doing okay!

CinderRosie · 05/12/2023 13:18

Hi everyone! Had our 20 week scan yesterday and all was well which is such a relief. We asked to not know the sex but the sonographer let a student have a turn and emphasised how careful they had to be on this one not to reveal the sex, which makes me feel it’s a boy. I’ve actually started a thread about this 😂 I feel like I now know I it’s a boy and won’t be a surprise anymore. Doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things at all though, a healthy baby is the most important thing. Hope everyone else is well!

sweetdreams23 · 05/12/2023 14:59

@CinderRosie oh that’s so annoying!! However first thing I thought when I read that was maybe the student hadn’t been very good at hiding the gender with a previous couple? Annoying all the same though when you want a surprise but you still don’t really know for sure!

Misty84 · 05/12/2023 15:04

I don’t know how they do it to be honest! I’d be sure to slip up and say he/she! 🤪

Mrsttcno1 · 05/12/2023 15:06

So lovely to hear about everyone’s scans going well!! We have ours on Thursday, a little bit late as we were off on holiday last week when it should have been (booked pre-baby). I’ve finally started feeling kicks the last week or so properly, even managed to catch one on video yesterday! Starting to feel very real now! X

1994jk · 05/12/2023 16:57

In need of a bit of a hand-hold please as I'm super worried! 😪 I'm 19 weeks today, went in for a scan of baby cos of some pain in the night (they weren't worried about the pain but said we might as well scan you whilst you're here). When they first started scanning the babys heart looked very slow on the screen for about 10 seconds, then it picked up and looked like a normal good heart rate like ive seen it at other times. The doctor then said to me later than he spoke to another doctor and a slow heart at this point could mean absolutely nothing, but could also mean baby is not coping, and at this gestation there's nothing they can do to help. He then got another doctor in who said all the same things to me so that made me feel even more worried.
They could see how upset I was so the second doctor offered to do another scan there and then, and the babys heartbeat was fine the whole time this time and baby was moving around lots which they said was a good sign. Obviously now though I can't help but imagine the worst, and have to wait a week to be scanned again 😩 can anyone give me any words of reassurance x

Ttcmumma · 05/12/2023 17:52

@1994jk I'm sorry to hear you're going through a stressful time. Do you happen to know how slow it was? BPM?

SummerOak · 05/12/2023 19:00

@1994jk sorry you're having to go through that. I know it's hard, but try to think positive as the second time the doctor checked everything was good and the baby was moving a lot. When is your scan next week? I'm hoping they can tell you more in depth of what's going on.

1994jk · 05/12/2023 20:54

@Ttcmumma I just checked my notes and it said it was at 60 for approx 5 seconds and then went back up to 150

@SummerOak that's what I am holding on to! Really hard though as I am a bit of a pessimist and can't help but think of the worst, it's going to feel like a long week 😖

Thanks for your replies xx

WishIWasSleeping · 05/12/2023 21:11

@1994jk ... Sounds scary, but good that they are being upfront with you.
Try and stay positive. Flowers

MumDaisy1980 · 06/12/2023 06:45

Heya! Had 22 week scan. I chose not to know the gender. But my husband knows. We were both pleased! Baby is healthy and not expecting the scan can show the face!!

I booked bump and baby because it offers baby first aid. I didn’t find first aid module from NCT.

felt movement usually when my mind not occupied like watching tv or going to bed.

nice to read other progress and share experience !!

SummerOak · 06/12/2023 14:01

@MumDaisy1980 must have been so nice to see the face. I had my scan a day before 20 weeks and it wasn't really possible to see face properly. But I booked a 28 weeks 4D scan, I'm hoping it will be clear by then.

Hope your husband is good at keeping it a secret, I would have trouble not slipping up and calling the baby she/he.

Pinkstuffs · 06/12/2023 17:40

I’m having my 20 week scan tomorrow and I’m so nervous! I haven’t bought anything for baby yet as I don’t feel I can relax until after this one. Luckily it’s at 8am so I won’t need to wait around all day.

Mrsttcno1 · 06/12/2023 18:11

Good luck @Pinkstuffs ! Mine is tomorrow too, but at 14:30 so I have all day to tie myself in knots about it!! But I can feel her kicking away right now so trying to take some comfort in that! X

MumDaisy1980 · 06/12/2023 21:51

@SummerOak thanks! 4D scan sounds amazing! Hope you would get a clear baby view!

@Pinkstuffs @Mrsttcno1 good luck with the scan!

i have started pregnancy yoga for the first time. Wonder if anyone done or doing it? What do you think? Personally feel not physically demanding (compare to normal yoga) and like a time to total relax.

Mrsttcno1 · 07/12/2023 16:11

Just back from my scan and baby is definitely a girl & all looking good! Although she really made them work for it, we were being scanned for over an hour with lots of walking breaks, wee’s, hip wiggling to try and get her into a better position! Finally she cooperated and all good, so relieved! X

MumDaisy1980 · 07/12/2023 19:14

@Mrsttcno1 what an active baby! good to hear it went well! could imagine what a relieve indeed!

Pinkstuffs · 07/12/2023 20:43

My scan went well today as well, I had a glass of orange juice before I left as at the 12 week scan he barely moved! He’s definitely still a boy. I got told I have an anterior placenta too but I have been feeling baby move, has anyone else got this?

Yeah, it's pretty common..I had it my last pregnancy and have it this time too. It just cushions those kicks a little really but otherwise nothing to worry about x

I have an anterior placenta - they're common and occur in about half of all pregnancies (according to the Google search I just did).

I've been feeling movements since 16 weeks (it's my third baby), mostly fairly low to begin with (which is changing as she gets bigger/stronger). I also had an anterior placenta in my second pregnancy and felt movement easily then, too (although I'll add that I'm fairly slender in build, which I was told helps with feeling movement by a midwife during my previous pregnancy).

MumDaisy1980 · 08/12/2023 06:51

@Pinkstuffs 👏👏👏

recent days I experienced quite a lot of movements. And at a point I feel like the baby yanking its legs out or spinning around. Though not painful or anything. The feeling is quite funny and scary/ surprise at the same time.

not sure if anyone experience that much movement so early. I m 22 weeks at the moment. 🙂
