My nipples feel like inhave a 10 ton truck pulling them, I honestly thought I was having chest pains and discovered it was my nipples lol stupid thing is they don't produce any milk so why they're acting like this I don't know lol

ClrDvs · 11/01/2024 11:04

All went well at the scan today - everything where and how it should be. Big sigh of relief.

@SarahBowie soooooo sensitive, especially when it's cold out!! I nearly cried the other day and had to tell my partner it was because my nipples were too cold....

SarahBowie · 11/01/2024 11:07

@ClrDvs glad your scan went well after your worry!

Glad it’s not just me then with the nipples 😂

TheBirdintheCave · 11/01/2024 11:09

@ClrDvs Congrats on the good scan! :)

Sa11yCinnamon · 11/01/2024 11:11

Oh god when it's cold my nipples are AGONY 😩

My friend recommended the little pocket handwarmers tucked in your bra, I found some but haven't tried it yet.

Holdmysunhat · 11/01/2024 12:46

Thinking of everyone awaiting tests and keeping fingers crossed for good outcomes all round 💛

Mum2b2024 · 12/01/2024 23:27

Has my 20 week scan this week and all is going well :) sorry to hear some people unwell and awaiting tests. Hope u feel better and get good results soon! Been getting more abdominal pain but told midwife and said ligament pain with everything stretching. Feeling a bit of movement but not loads yet however baby was very wriggly in scan we could see on the screen so hopefully won't be too long till feel more haha. Starting to feel more real now we in 2024 and had scan. Feel so much to do ahh!!

Nina7 · 13/01/2024 14:52

I hope all goes well @Geekygirl13 and @FirstTim3Mummy . It must feel so stressful, I hope you get some reassuring news soon.

My 20 week scan was all normal, which was a great relief and I've now get regular kicks all over the place (all contained in the lower part of the belly, up to where the uterus has reached so far).
I sometimes feel these funny kicks at two ends of the belly at once, which I guess is when he stretches! He stretched during the scan as well!

For those with "breech" position, I have the impression that at this stage the babies are doing somersaults in the belly, constantly changing positions. I think that's why they say not to try to do anything yet.

How consistent have people been with pelvic floor exercises?
I keep meaning to do them and then I forget them for days... 😕

Glad to hear your scan went well @Nina7 ☺️

I’ve been feeling really nice movements now this week. Proper little kicks everywhere except low down which makes sense as I’ve got a lower anterior placenta. I think I’ve actually been feeling these movements for a couple of weeks but I’ve not noticed properly because I’ve been getting over this chest infection.

Athena1984 · 14/01/2024 07:31

Is anyone else not feeling the kicks? I am 22weeks and I am a bit worried. 20 week scan was all fine, Mid wife appointment is in late feb! Is anyone else not feeling the kicks?

My midwife said not to worry at all until 24 weeks as it’s fairly common. I feel flutters now but it’s still quite subtle and I only feel them when I’m still (sat down working or in bed etc…). I think it depends on your size, on your placenta positioning and what not so I wouldn’t worry too much for now. Maybe just have some chocolate or a fizzy drink one evening and lie really still and see if you start to feel anything?

Nina7 · 14/01/2024 09:30

@Athena1984 if the scan was fine, then it must be the factors mentioned by @LondonGirl1992 .
Also, I call them kicks but in reality they're much more gentle (I expect they'll become proper kicks later on, around 24 weeks and they'll be very hard to miss then). You could be mistaking them with gut activity or stomach grumbling, but just have in mind that all these organs have now moved out of the way https://www.msichicago.org/science-at-home/make-room-for-baby/ so any feelings you're having in your lower belly will be the baby.

Also, I usually feel them when I'm relaxed, often when I lie down in bed or meditating.
And almost always after I've had something to eat (not necessarily sweet stuff).

@Nina7 I occasionally get the 'stretch' kicks too. I was surprised to get so much movement so soon but I have a posterior placenta and not a lot of fat on my stomach so I think the others are right @Athena1984, if your scan was good try not to worry and just to look forward to when you do get them!
As for pelvic floor, I do them once a day most days and sometimes twice, the Squeezy app reminds you but it's not always reliable.

TheBirdintheCave · 14/01/2024 23:19

@Nina7 I downloaded the NHS app and have been doing the squeezes for about two weeks now. If I didn't have the app I'd just forget 😂

I felt my first definite kicks yesterday at 21+5, I know people who hardly felt anything throughout the whole pregnancy though so please try not to worry!

SarahBowie · 15/01/2024 12:46

Anyone else had pregnancy related nose bleeds? I’ve read it’s fairly common. I’ve never been bothered with nose bleeds but had one all over my white desk this morning!

TheBirdintheCave · 15/01/2024 15:16

@SarahBowie Yup, I'll get one every now and then, more than my pregnancy with my son because I'm on aspirin this time.

Can i ask why you're on aspirin? i was on aspirin last pregnancy with my son as i had low PAP A (blood not flowing well from placenta to baby)
but my midwife has decided to put me on it again just incase this time round x

Nina7 · 15/01/2024 17:12

@Yourowgirl I've also got posterior placenta and not much fat in the belly, so maybe it's that.

I was also put on aspirin due to age combined with high chance of downs (due to hormones being a bit off normal). But my midwives forgot to tell me (I think they weren't told by the consultant) until I was 16/17 weeks, which is on the late side to start, but better late than never I guess!
No nosebleeds thought (at least not yet)
I used to get them a lot when I was younger though, especially when I was coming indoors when it was very cold outdoors.

OP posts:
Yourowgirl · 15/01/2024 17:38

I haven't had any nosebleeds but I get blood in my tissue when I blow, especially in the morning. Have also heard it's common due to what's happening with blood vessels

SarahBowie · 15/01/2024 18:59

No aspirin for me but you have a good point @Yourowgirl maybe it’s blood vessels. Everything I’ve looked at suggests hormones of some description just playing up. Can’t say I’ve been very productive at work today trying to deal with the bleeding!

PeppedUp · 15/01/2024 19:00

@Nina7 In terms of pelvic floor, I’m aiming to do twice a day on the Squeezy app but some days I only do once. I was initially going days at a time without doing it but then I had a small leak when I sneezed and that motivated me a lot :-/ I also finally got started today on using Nike Training Club, which I used all through my last pregnancy, and one of the videos I did on there was focused on core and pelvic floor. I’m going to try doing that at least a couple of times a week as well.

In terms of nose bleeds, I just get blood in my tissue. Pregnancy is also making my nose quite runny.

SarahBowie · 15/01/2024 19:03

What’s the squeeze app? I have to admit that I’ve not done any pelvic floor exercises :(

newbie12345678 · 15/01/2024 21:38

Don't worry @SarahBowie I haven't either 😅

junebuglb · 15/01/2024 21:58

Me neither! I downloaded the app a few weeks ago and have since ignored every reminder 😳

The app is by NHS, it’s called “squeezy”, costs a few quid and reminds you to do it each day. Money well spent as you can tell 😜
