Hi all, just continuing the previous thread.

@Holdmysunhat I got the seasickness bands you suggested, I think they're great!!

@junebuglb my baby likes sitting head up according to scans and kicks and it really plays on my mind! Midwives and obstetrician both told me position doesn’t matter at this stage but he seems to always be there. Not sure how helpful it will be but I’ve been trying ‘forward-leaning inversions’ (even though midwife said nothing would help at this stage).

I’ve also been feeling a bit more stressed about baby coming. I was so blissful about it over the Christmas holidays - I wish that feeling would come back!

GratefulMum10 · 09/01/2024 19:39

@junebuglb I can relate!

Had my 20+4 scan today and all well which is main thing. Baby was active but in breech position which they said wasn't a worry at this stage given they move about so much. But I forgot to ask and made me think after maybe that's why I feel more flutter / sharp tingle lower abdomen.

GratefulMum10 · 09/01/2024 19:40

@PeppedUp glad you've had the same experience!

PeppedUp · 09/01/2024 19:41

@Sa11yCinnamon the obstetrician referred me to a physio this week for pelvic girdle pain - she said I might get seen before the end of my pregnancy. Definitely try and get a referral as soon as you can if possible!

SarahBowie · 09/01/2024 19:42

@Yourowgirl thank you. I had to go to the doctor in the end because this cough is just not shifting. I’ve got a bit of a temperature so they’ve given me antibiotics that are safe to have just now and I’m taking paracetamol. Doctor thinks it’s just a nasty thing I’ve picked up as not covid or flu thankfully.

Convinced I’m starting to feel some harder little kicks now around the sides which would make sense with an anterior placenta. Hoping they get stronger in the coming weeks otherwise I’ll mention to my midwife on the 1st that I’m not feeling much more than flutters irregularly still.

LondonGirl1992 · 09/01/2024 20:26

Goood evening! Just wondered if anyone else has heard they have additional growth scans at 32/35/38 weeks? I had a call today due to my bleeds in early pregnancy to say I’ll qualify for them if I want them! I said yes but I’ve never heard of anyone else being offered these following a Hematoma!

Emmacb82 · 09/01/2024 21:07

I’ve always had a growth scan at 36 weeks with all of my pregnancies but I don’t think all trusts offer them. It’s nice to get one more look at baby before they make their arrival!

SarahBowie · 09/01/2024 21:13

@LondonGirl1992 I have growth scans booked for 28 and 32 weeks. If you are over 35 this is standard in my area apparently, regardless of how the pregnancy has been going.

Holdmysunhat · 09/01/2024 21:40

How’s everyone doing with the second trimester sickness? Mine is pretty awful still but I had a good month of relatively little sickness so hoping it’ll go away again.

Holdmysunhat · 09/01/2024 21:41

@Emmacb82 my last trust did a 36 week scan but this one doesn’t. Strange how these things vary a bit everywhere.

TheBirdintheCave · 09/01/2024 21:42

@LondonGirl1992 I'm under a consultant so have a shed load of extra scans this time round.

junebuglb · 09/01/2024 22:08

@Sa11yCinnamon yes I’ve definitely had a couple of wobbles you’re not alone there. I am so excited and generally loving pregnancy but there are moments I remember what lies ahead and it can be intense!

@SarahBowie also hope you start feeling less poorly soon! And yes who knows what’s going on in there with these pains, could well be baby. Although I would say it’s more of a kind of thumpy heart palpitation sensation for me when she moves/kicks rather than sharp.

@PeppedUp @GratefulMum10 glad to know I’m not the only one! I’m sure it’s so normal at this stage. Think I’ll wait till 3rd trimester to start crawling on all fours I reckon! 😂

Geekygirl13 · 09/01/2024 22:32

I'm a bit of a mess tbh. Had a scan today (twins) with my consultant and Twin 1 is much smaller, my scar from previous sections is looking a bit thin in places so he's booked me for a CT scan at 28 weeks and I have a fibroid in the middle of the normal section exit and he says if it grows then he will have to do the section a different way which could cause a lot of bleeding. So a bit bothered tonight lol

PeppedUp · 09/01/2024 23:08

@junebuglb my toddler makes a beeline for me every time I do it to try and get a “horsey ride”!

PeppedUp · 09/01/2024 23:14

@Geekygirl13 sorry to hear you’re going through all that stress and annoying you have to wait until 28 weeks for a scan. Hopefully with a planned c-section the blood loss should be able to be managed?

FirstTim3Mummy · 10/01/2024 08:28

Had 20 week anomaly scan today and although everything else is fine they couldn't be sure of the lower spine (they expect to see a point at the base of the spine) so I've been referred to fetal medicine doctor at UHCW for them to check it's okay. Trying not to stress as everything else was perfect. If it was just a case of not being able to see it why I don't just get a rescan or told to go for a walk and come back because she wasn't confident and wants an expect to check it.
So naturally now I'm stressed about spina bifida or something as there wasn't a visible point at the bottom of the spine.
But, everything else was accounted for and no anomalies anywhere else so hoping they're just being over cautious. They didn't have the fetal medicine department at that hospital so I've been referred to another one. I really wasn't prepared to hear anything other than everything is looking fine

I’ve got the midwife on Tuesday so I’ll mention to her then, thanks!

I was told I’d have them from 28 or 30 weeks as I have a bicornuate uterus, but then another midwife said I wouldn’t need anything different so I’m just going to go with the flow and see what happens…

Sa11yCinnamon · 10/01/2024 08:47

@Geekygirl13 really sorry to hear you have that worry to deal with, I’ve no real advice but please vent here any time you need to x

@FirstTim3Mummy you too, any added worry is horrible, hope you get your referral soon x

FirstTim3Mummy · 10/01/2024 10:41

I've been contacted and we have an appointment this Saturday with fetal medicine department so I'm really praying it's a simple case of finding the lower spine on the scan and it's all fine. Will update when we find out

So stressed off work

Geekygirl13 · 10/01/2024 11:42

That's not too bad a wait, hope all goes well x

Yourowgirl · 10/01/2024 17:31

So sorry to hear about your stresses and worries following your scans @Geekygirl13 and @FirstTim3Mummy I hope your minds are put at rest soon and you feel supported in the horrible waiting

ClrDvs · 10/01/2024 18:48

Sorry to hear some are feeling poorly and have had additional stresses to deal with ❤️. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon and have the answers we're all rooting for. Like others have said, I don't have any words of wisdom I'm afraid - but keep talking, plenty of us here willing to lend an ear xx

For those looking for deet free insect repellant (might have been @Yourowgirl ?) Have a look at Avon Skin So Soft spray. Apparently it's what the Marines use. I haven't checked the ingredients, but might be worth a look 🙂.

20 week scan for me tomorrow. I'm really nervous. I had hyperemesis so wasn't able to keep the folic acid down, or eat 😕 . Just keeping everything crossed and trying not to get too wound up.

Yourowgirl · 10/01/2024 19:29

Thanks @ClrDvs, it was me. Hope all goes well for you tomorrow!

SarahBowie · 10/01/2024 21:37

Hope everything goes ok for those of you awaiting further tests and scans.

I think I’m starting to feel proper kicks today now so going to keep an eye on it but certainly seems like a constant little punch from inside, almost to the point that it’s uncomfortable for a little bit!

Is anyone else still having sore breasts and nipples? I suspect it’s something that not going away any time soon but it’s really been a constant for me even since the early days.
