Hope everyone’s scans go well. Mine is on 2nd of January and with Christmas and NY in between I’m hoping the time goes quick.

I’ve been feeling movements for about a week now. I get flutters but they’re quite subtle, so I’m not sure if it’s the baby or not, but the more obvious thing is when the baby slowly moves around and pushes up against the outside of my tummy.

Christmas question! I've seen on the NHS that we're not meant to have goose or pheasant while pregnant...but do you know about goose fat on potatoes? Going to my brother's for Christmas and that's what he cooks them in! Thanks! 🙏

SarahBowie · 22/12/2023 13:28

@newbie12345678 I think the reason for no goose is due to the potential of lead poisoning from the bullets used to shoot the game. I’ve had potatoes roasted in goose fat during my pregnancy and been fine with everything showing normal on scans. I think you just need to watch how much you eat as it can be harder on the digestive system from what I’ve read.

Emmacb82 · 22/12/2023 14:38

Have got my 20 week scan on the 29th too, going to find out what we are having, have 2 boys already so a girl would be the icing on the cake but I have a feeling it will be another boy! Just want to know that everything is fine and it’s healthy. Have been feeling movements most days, some more than others but it’s lovely to get faint little kicks. Wishing everyone a merry Christmas and here’s to 2024 and all our lovely babies 😀

Judethepud · 22/12/2023 15:39

I've got my scan on 27th, can't wait. We aren't finding out the sex. I had an extra scan at 18 weeks to check my cervix and got to see the baby which was cool, it's crazy the difference in size and movement from 12 weeks!

I've been feeling some little fluttery movements but not a lot yet. Notes from last scan say I have an anterior placenta.

Anyone else exhausted if they do too much? I was out last night with my siblings for dinner, out for about 6 hours and I am exhausted today! Just up from a nap and could stay in bed all day. Not sure how I'm going to manage socialising Christmas day and boxing day 🙃

Judethepud · 22/12/2023 15:46

Oh also anyone else having rib pain? I feel like my boobs are so heavy on them lol and they must be growing out to make room or something but very uncomfortable.

SarahBowie · 22/12/2023 16:24

@Judethepud the rib pain is so bad! My upper back has started hurting again too so I think my boobs have had a growth spurt.

I’m exhausted today! I’ve come downstairs from working to wrap myself in a blanket for a nap. I feel like I’m coming down with a cold as well which is great timing when we’re hosting Xmas!!

Hope you’re all able to get some naps in over the festive period!

Holdmysunhat · 22/12/2023 17:53

So tired @Judethepud! We’re hosting this year so I’m definitely planning to sneak upstairs for a little nap on christmas day. Pregnancy is the best excuse for napping!

I’ve also got covid which isn’t helping the tiredness (hoping for a negative test this weekend) but although i feel a bit crappy it’s not as hideous as I’d feared. Makes me extremely thankful for the booster vaccine. Looking forward to a lovely christmas of pigging out and sleeping!

TheBirdintheCave · 22/12/2023 19:50

Scan was fine today :) Saw the wiggly baby who was very co-operative. Stayed strong and didn't fine out the sex. I'm just too scared! 😅

Athena1984 · 25/12/2023 11:25

Merry Christmas everyone 🎄

ThePoddingtonPeas · 25/12/2023 11:41

Merry Christmas! Hope you all have a lovely day (and manage to get that nap in!)

Emmacb82 · 25/12/2023 11:45

Merry Christmas to you all! No nap time here and working tonight 😫🎄🎅🏻

PeppedUp · 25/12/2023 20:52

Oh @Emmacb82, that sucks - hope it’s not too busy!

Merry Christmas everyone! It’s crazy that we’re all half way through or close to it.

TheBirdintheCave · 25/12/2023 23:14

Merry Christmas! We cooked dinner for nine people. I am very tired 😂

SarahBowie · 26/12/2023 10:36

Hope you all had a good day yesterday! 🎄

I was on lift duties for my partners parents, mine can walk to our house. Our mums did the washing up for us and I managed a whole 12 hours of entertainment without a nap! Lots of doggy cuddles from my little fluffy one though ☺️

We found out that our two other couple friends who are pregnant are expecting girls too so we’re going to have such a little gang!

Geekygirl13 · 26/12/2023 13:42

Hope you all had a nice day yesterday. I've discovered my babies love jelly babies so guess what's coming to my scan with me tomorrow lol x

junebuglb · 26/12/2023 16:14

Gosh are anyone else’s hormones on a knife edge at the moment!! Xmas has been lovely but I’ve been unbelievably teary!

newbie12345678 · 26/12/2023 18:45

@junebuglb - me! In the past 48 hours I've happy cried and sobbed uncontrollably with anxiety 🤷‍♀️

Yourowgirl · 26/12/2023 20:13

@Judethepud yes to tiredness. I feel like I have more energy than first trimester and get on with stuff but after a few hours the tiredness hits me, or if I get the opportunity to nap I can be out for a few hours.
@junebuglb I've been a bit teary too

nh93 · 26/12/2023 23:39

I've been really teary and so so tired! where is this second tri energy they keep talking about? lol!

SarahBowie · 26/12/2023 23:47

Also feeling the tiredness! We’ve got some family members visiting, thankfully not staying with us, and they seem to think that I should have the same energy as I had pre pregnancy. The last time they saw me was in the middle of my horrific first trimester hyperemisis so unsure why they think I should suddenly be back to normal when I’m growing a person and still being sick sometimes!

I think I’m a bit tetchy at the moment rather than teary 🙈

Yourowgirl · 27/12/2023 08:50

@SarahBowie that sounds really hard. I have found other people's opinions difficult, even if kindly meant, as not all pregnancies are the same (putting it lightly!) and sometimes it makes me worry rather than just taking my own pregnancy as it comes. A couple of friends have made me feel better about it being a unique experience for me though. I am also still sick and struggling to eat proper meals which is disheartening, although my husband says I look like I'm glowing which is sweet. I am going through a good hair phase so will cling onto that! Looking forward to some proper baby movements and further easing of symptoms in the coming weeks🙏

Emmacb82 · 27/12/2023 09:46

Constantly knackered here too although I have 3 and 7 year olds to run around after and I work a lot of night shifts so it’s inevitable. I do keep reminding my husband that sometimes I’m allowed to have a rest but I think when you’ve got other kids you just have to get on with it as they expect you to be like normal! Had a day of worry yesterday as hadn’t felt baby move for ages. The sensible side of me knows that it’s not regular yet but the anxious side took over for a while! But have since felt baby several times so it’s just teasing me! Can’t wait for scan on Friday x

SarahBowie · 27/12/2023 10:38

@Yourowgirl hope you’re feeling better soon! I can deal with the tiredness but the constant sickness was awful! Not so bad not it’s only occasionally but it sounds like you’re having a rough time.

@Emmacb82 I’ve got my scan on Friday too ☺️ can’t wait to see her again! Hope yours goes well.

Toda11 · 27/12/2023 14:04

20w scan today at 20w4 and all went well, having a girl! 🩷

also said I have a high anterior placenta, anyone else been told that?
