Random question… have you all got names picked out yet? What girls/boys names are you all loving?!

Got 4 or 5 names for boy and girl so waiting to find out baby sex before deciding

PeppedUp · 07/12/2023 07:33

@Athena1984 oh no, have you spoken to a GP yet? Hopefully the jab reduces the severity of it. I actually read something on my pregnancy app yesterday about the flu and it made it sound like less of a big deal than I expected (it referenced the CDC in the US).

Athena1984 · 07/12/2023 10:07

@PeppedUp I haven't spoken to the gp yet, will call today. That is reassuring, fever is coming down gradually 🤞🏽, I do wonder what baby goes through when I am coughing and sneezing!

PeppedUp · 07/12/2023 12:10

I just had my 16 week appointment and also didn’t get to hear the heartbeat - so disappointing! They said they don’t do it because baby is too small.

I also found out the reason why I’m getting the glucose test is because my last baby was over 4kg.

@Athena1984 sounds good that your temperature is coming down. I was a bit worried about a temperature a while ago but it sounded like it is more of a problem in the first trimester.

SarahBowie · 07/12/2023 12:46

Also no heartbeat listening at my 16 week appointment, I have another appointment on 1st Feb and they’ll do then along with taking my fundal height measurements. I got my whooping cough vaccine though and she just confirmed again that there’s no issues from my tests or scan. I got quite a lot of info away about infant feeding that I can read up on and she answered some questions I had around baby moving and some pains I’ve been having. I’ll get signed up for my baby box at my next appointment too so I’ve been given a leaflet to look at with what it contains which is exciting!

Next thing for me now is gender scan on the 17th when I’ll be 18 weeks 🥰

Sa11yCinnamon · 07/12/2023 13:24

@SarahBowie the baby box is just incredible, I'm so excited to get mine!

I also had a 16 week appointment yesterday and didn't get to hear the heartbeat, the midwife said she was confident she'd have heard it but they're not allowed to listen for it til 20 weeks here. Feels like an absolute age til my 20 week scan now, especially when I had four between 7 and 13!

Sa11yCinnamon · 07/12/2023 13:25

Oh and also got my screening results which are all low, I had assumed no news was good news but nice to have it confirmed 😊

Twdfn123 · 07/12/2023 13:48

So strange, my midwife at my 16 week appointment was almost excited to listen to the heartbeat, practically dragged me on the bed. Must be different in other places :/

FirstTim3Mummy · 07/12/2023 13:55

Is anyone planning to go to the national baby show next year on in London excel, Birmingham NEC, and Manchester?

SarahBowie · 07/12/2023 14:35

@Sa11yCinnamon good news about your test results! I knew the box was a thing but didn’t realise how helpful it was with all the stuff included!

Toda11 · 07/12/2023 14:54

Very glad I got to listen to the heartbeat at my 16week meeting!

What is this baby box? Wasn't something I have had mentioned by my midwife

FirstTim3Mummy · 07/12/2023 14:54

Those of you who get a baby box is that only if you live in Scotland?

TheBirdintheCave · 07/12/2023 17:59

LondonGirl1992 · 06/12/2023 21:59

Yep. Hero and Conrad :)

Holdmysunhat · 07/12/2023 18:37

That box is amazing! You Scottish parents are so lucky. What a lovely initiative. I must be hormonal AF because the poem made me cry haha

TheBirdintheCave · 07/12/2023 22:47

Wish we could get the baby box. I love that they give reusable nappies too 👌🏻

PeppedUp · 08/12/2023 12:51

For anyone that’s felt baby movements, how certain were you of them and how often do you feel them?

I sometimes feel like I feel something subtle but then I feel similar sensations up near my ribs, which makes me think maybe I’m not feeling the baby at all and that it’s just twitches in my tummy.

I’m getting rather desperate to feel something to put my mind at ease given the lack of first trimester symptoms now!

GratefulMum10 · 08/12/2023 12:51

@FirstTim3Mummy I'm planning to go to the London one but not booked tickets yet - hoping to get a free code from somewhere :D

Has anyone been to the Exel baby show before and is it worth it?

SarahBowie · 08/12/2023 13:25

@PeppedUp for me it’s like tiny little bubbles quite low down from my belly button around the pubic bone area. I spoke to my midwife about it yesterday and she confirmed its movement but I won’t feel it regularly for quite a while and not to worry if I don’t notice it often. I have to start counting movements at 24 weeks.

junebuglb · 08/12/2023 14:49

@PeppedUp not sure if you’ve had yours yet but I found it really helpful when they had a feel around at my 16wk appt as it confirmed where my uterus was at the moment!

There is sort of a firm ridge at the top of the uterus and the movements are below that point. I have been feeling them below the belly button but above the hips. Absolutely no kind of pattern to the movements but I would say the strongest I’ve felt were when standing in the shower or lay down for bed at night :) like a kind of soft faint rolling/fluttering/jabbing sensation for me.

Midwife did also hugely stress it’s so normal not to feel anything til 20+wks! But hope baby does some karate for you soon 😊💥

Emmacb82 · 09/12/2023 10:49

I’ve had a few little movements from 15 weeks but it’s third baby so I guess that’s why. Sometimes it’s like a few bubbles and other times like a feathery touch from the inside! And sometimes it’s probably just wind 😂 have got midwife on Monday and she said at booking in that she will listen to heartbeat, I’ll be nearly 18 weeks so I guess it’s a bit more likely to find it. I struggle with this bit in between scans as it’s like limbo land wondering if everything is ok.

SarahBowie · 09/12/2023 13:55

Had a big panic today that something wasn’t right so got taken in to the hospital for a quick check over and everything is fine, I’m just being anxious! Got to hear baby’s heartbeat for the first time though and ended up crying a bit because I was so relieved 🙈 140bpm so nice and healthy.

PeppedUp · 09/12/2023 14:25

Thanks everyone. I’m still not sure if I’m feeling them or not - it is so subtle and could be something else, plus I only feel it every three or four days.

Unfortunately my midwife didn’t check my tummy or anything linked more directly to the baby - just my pulse, blood pressure and carbon monoxide.

Regarding the Baby Show, I watched it online during COVID and found the discussions really good. I think I preferred watching it from home so you could pick and choose what you wanted to watch over the course of the day. Depends what you want from it though - in person I guess it is easier to see baby stuff you might want to buy.

Geekygirl13 · 09/12/2023 17:02

I think I am just not regular which kind.of freaks me out considering it's twins lol

TheBirdintheCave · 09/12/2023 23:28

@PeppedUp I'm always 100% certain when I've felt the baby. It's such a unique feeling. At ten weeks it was just a feather tickle or like a goldfish turning in a bag. Now at 17 weeks I get actual kicks, rolls and stretches. Still relatively gentle however and husband can't feel it from the outside yet.
