Hi all, just continuing the previous thread.

@Holdmysunhat I got the seasickness bands you suggested, I think they're great!!

Thanks everyone, second tri is feeling energetic so far feeling lucky!

@PeppedUp @LondonGirl1992 @Holdmysunhat it does seem a big plus to have missed the anxiety of the first tri 🙈I checked the online calculator for miscarriage probability now and for my age, history and BMI at the beginning of the pregnancy it was 33%, which at the time if I had seen I'd have been worried sick the whole way through! Now at 17 weeks it's down to 0.4% pheww

@PeppedUp thanks for the shoutout on NCT & other classes - I hadn't even thought of that and checked now to find they're booking faaast. Glad you mentioned or else I wouldn't have found a spot probably :)

My sleep has been slightly disturbed now on the sides, with some lower back ache starting. @Colourfulflowers what's this magical pillow you mention, do share!

Good luck to everyone - we go this!

PeppedUp · 04/12/2023 16:48

My second trimester is okay - definitely glad to have less anxiety now we’re past the 12 week mark. I still have a few food aversions, mostly to chicken, and I’m tired. On the plus side, I am possibly feeling baby movements, although I’m also not sure if it’s just the inside of my tummy twitching!

@Colourfulflowers I’m struggling with sleep as well. I wake up around 4am for a couple of hours each morning - it’s making my days pretty tiring and I’m struggling to concentrate sometimes at work.

@Sa11yCinnamon I did my first pregnancy yoga class yesterday and it was so good, both mentally and physically. There was a really nice meditation at the end as well and I left feeling more connected to my pregnancy - hope it goes well for you tonight!

Sa11yCinnamon · 04/12/2023 16:53

@PeppedUp ah that sounds great! I've timed it terribly as tonight is the last class til January, but better than nothing!

Colourfulflowers · 04/12/2023 17:10

@Sa11yCinnamon @LondonFamily I have a BBHugMe. I had been waiting for the 12 week mark to treat myself (also found on sale at the time which was nice!). I haven’t tried any others to compare, but I find it super comfy and moulds into shape too so they have a happy customer (+1 😉)! xx

@PeppedUp I did my first pregnancy yoga class last week and loved it too 🥰 it was so nice to connect with baby and modify moves to pregnancy xx

Hope everyone has a nice evening and also good sleep tonight too!!

@Colourfulflowers I have heard amazing things about the BB hug me pillow!! i've been contemplating whether to buy one as it's a whopping £90 but you may have convinced me :) this is my 3rd pregnancy and i can't seem to get comfortable at night, (i also co sleep atm with my youngest)

Anyone else still so tired at the second trimester? However i am so glad to see the back of the sickness (altho the nausea does creep up sometimes) 🥲

Hope everyone’s doing well 🤍 just had our gender scan at the weekend and it’s a boy 🩵 so excited! We already have a 20month daughter so one of each will be perfect!
anyone have one of each and notice any differences in birth and how the are generally? Lol anything I need to be prepared for 😂

TheBirdintheCave · 05/12/2023 10:17

@Twinkles18 Aww congratulations! :) How perfect to have one of each!

Sa11yCinnamon · 05/12/2023 10:53

@Twinkles18 that's lovely, congratulations!

I'm swithering on finding out the gender. I've always said I'd like a surprise but my boyfriend is a big planner and would really like to know, and I don't think I feel strongly enough to put my foot down (which I absolutely would if I did, I'm doing all the work etc!)

Is anyone else planning to find out or keep it a surprise?

congrats!! how lovely 😄 i am one of each atm and of-course they are so different to each other, just watch out for the newborn nappy changes when they start peeing on you 🤣 lol
we are doing a early gender scan at 16 weeks (in two weeks) i'm so excited!!

LondonGirl1992 · 05/12/2023 12:29

I’m 100% keeping it a surprise- I love the not knowing, it makes the lead up to the birth feel more exciting and positive for me because I know there’s going to be a bit surprise at the end of it. I know everyone’s different!

I just had my 16 week midwife appt and they didn’t listen for a heartbeat and i felt so disappointed! I actually cried in the appointment because I’m just so worried something has gone wrong and this wait feels SO long. I’m tempted to book a private scan but I don’t want to keep paying for them and I feel like I should just wait either for my next scan- or, to hopefully feel baby move soon! It’s such a weird limbo stage!

Twinkles18 · 05/12/2023 12:50

Thanks @TheBirdintheCave @Sa11yCinnamon and @nh93 ☺️
haha oh I have been warned about the nappy changes..he’ll definitely keep me on my toes 😂

Twinkles18 · 05/12/2023 12:50

@nh93 also good luck for your gender scan! So exciting 🥰

junebuglb · 05/12/2023 12:56

Eek exciting times starting to think about what everyone will have! Just had my 16wk appointment and the midwives were just lovely. Healthy sounding/feeling bubba. We’ve got a gender scan booked in next Sunday which I’m so excited for now. x 😊

@LondonGirl1992 so sorry because I totally understand that worry but hopefully you feel a little reassured at least that they have checked you over, I’m sure if anything didn’t seem normal they would have flagged it! The midwife today at my appt said it’s still SO early to be feeling movements- trust that all will be well!! 💕

Thank you for the lovely words! I am driving myself mad with worry- so I just booked a private scan for the weekend! I just think it’s worth it for the reassurance. I think it’s a bit strange that some areas you get to hear the heartbeat and others you don’t, it’s so disappointing when you don’t!

Has anyone had their whooping cough jab yet? I had mine yesterday and I’ve felt so sick with it!

junebuglb · 05/12/2023 13:24

@LondonGirl1992 great shout. Should be a really exciting scan though with a baby that looks even more like a baby! 😊 & it is strange re the heartbeats. I was going to ask to listen if they didn’t offer. However she did mention the kit she was using isn’t recommended until after 20 weeks (I think because they can’t always find the heartbeat this early so not reliable) I wonder if that could be why.
Planning to get my whooping cough in the new year 👍

Toda11 · 05/12/2023 14:06

At my 16w appointment they did say it's hard to use this early as the baby doesn't necessarily like it so moves around and often hides as they have more space currently.

We are also planning on finding out the gender as we are having a hard enough time with names so would be good to narrow it down!

SarahBowie · 05/12/2023 15:49

Anyone else noticed their hips/bum getting wider? I’ve actually lost some weight due to hyperemisis but clearly body is changing loads more than I noticed. I’ve been on the tube the first time since being pregnant for the last couple of days and either those seats are narrower or my bottoms got wider 😂🙈

PeppedUp · 06/12/2023 15:21

@Twinkles18 that’s so exciting! I’ve already got a boy and really want a girl as I would love one of each and my family is so male dominated.

@LondonGirl1992 that is so disappointing that you didn’t get to hear the heartbeat. Mine is tomorrow and I’m a bit gutted to hear it’s a lottery about whether you hear it or not. Hope your scan goes well on the weekend.

@SarahBowie interesting - I haven’t noticed the same thing. I am fitting fewer of my clothes but I still think I could pass for not being pregnant.

TheBirdintheCave · 06/12/2023 16:14

@SarahBowie Only after I had my son. When I tried to put my old dungarees on a few months later and my hips were too wide for them 😭They never returned to normal and neither did my rib cage so I had to part with 2/3 of my wardrobe 😑

Athena1984 · 06/12/2023 18:40

I am down with Flu, now worried how it is going to affect the baby. Most annoying part is that I had a flu jab last month!

SarahBowie · 06/12/2023 18:53

@PeppedUp @TheBirdintheCave I was convinced I’d only got bigger out front with my bump as I’ve actually lost half a stone rather than putting anything on due to hyperemisis in first trimester. Looks like even if I haven’t actually gained weight I’ve changed shape so hoping I go back to what I was before, I’ve already got wide hips compared to my waist 🙈

16 week appointment tomorrow when I’ll be 16+4 so really hoping to hear the heartbeat!

TheBirdintheCave · 06/12/2023 18:58

@PeppedUp My two cousins, my brother and myself have six boys between us! No girls born into our immediate family at all yet!

LondonGirl1992 · 06/12/2023 21:59

Random question… have you all got names picked out yet? What girls/boys names are you all loving?!

Rose5555 · 06/12/2023 22:07

We really wanted the gender to be a surprise, as we already have one of each and this is our bonus baby! But I have seen enough of the nub theory to know almost certainly that it was a boy from my 12 week scan. When I said it out loud to my husband during the scan, the sonographer smiled and said ‘yes… I’m more than 60% confident you’re having a boy’…. And now I feel like the surprise is totally spoiled! If anything I just want to give up on the whole idea of a surprise and find out for sure!!
