Happy Friday everyone! Just curious about how closely everyone is sticking to food restrictions during pregnancy? I’ve had a few slip ups and starting to feel guilty about it - smoked salmon and jamón, although I haven’t been eating them lots just on a couple of occasions due to massive cravings.

I've had smoked salmon a few times but i've heated it up which i'm sure is fine..
I actually wanted to ask i've read somewhere camembert is safe to eat if heat up pipping hot, can anyone confirm?
i'm craving it so bad with roasties 😭

PeppedUp · 01/12/2023 19:15

I haven’t had mine heated up - I think I’m just going to avoid it altogether from now on. NHS says cooked Camembert is fine

Toda11 · 01/12/2023 21:11

I have a different diet compared to most as it’s a low protein diet with additional supplements so not such an issue with meat and fish.

my diet is predominantly potato in various forms with some fruit and veg 😂

Nelliepledge · 01/12/2023 21:25

Any advice on the 15 week limbo stage? Symptoms minimal, not alot of bump, ages till next scan appointment, feel like a pregnancy fraud! Did anyone else feel like this? Still feel like it's too good to be true 😂xx

I feel this too! I can’t wait to feel some movement so I know baby is still in there!
I am so jealous of anyone who’s felt movement already!

ThePoddingtonPeas · 02/12/2023 09:20

Hi everyone, hope it's okay for me to join in the conversation.
I'm 15 weeks today, due 24th May with MCDA twins (eek!) though their arrival date will be a lot earlier due to the type of twin they are.

SarahBowie · 02/12/2023 09:50

@ThePoddingtonPeas omg how exciting! I hope everything’s going well with your pregnancy and your twins are doing well.

We’re going to have a look at travel systems this afternoon and are really keen on the Cybex Talos Lux with Cloud Z2 car seat. Does anyone have any recommendations in a similar price range that we should check out? Rose5555 · 02/12/2023 14:26

@SarahBowie i bought the cybex cloud z with my first baby and have always thought it was a really good decision. We have a silver cross pram so slightly different combo to you, but I bought adaptors that mean the car seat fits onto the pram base, and it’s perfect. The fact that you can transport a sleeping baby from the car to the pram without waking them is a godsend… and the lie-flat setting means I used to carry them into the house when they’d fallen asleep in the car and then just stretch them out to lie flat once inside and carry on napping. It’s genius - really helpful to parents, and also the safety ratings were brilliant. It’s lasted through my first two children perfectly and I’m looking forward to getting it out again for number three. Hope you have a good trip this afternoon and find something you like!

Geekygirl13 · 02/12/2023 17:52

How are you feeling? ,I'm currently 16+3 with non identical twins due 15rh May. Xx

SarahBowie · 02/12/2023 17:57

@Rose5555 that’s so good to hear about the cloud seat, I’m really taken with it after seeing it. We still like the cybex lux but we were also shown the noordi fjordi which we’re taken with as it comes in some leather options which my partner got quite excited about bless him. The shop can do a bundle deal for us and swap out the noordi car seat for the cybex cloud with adapters so we’ve got two serious options now :) also saw some great cot beds and the prices were much more reasonable that we thought they’d be so we might just get everything from the one shop.

venus93 · 02/12/2023 18:10

@TheBirdintheCave
Thanks! i've gone ahead and booked one for 16 weeks. Managed to find out at ultrasound plus for £60 :)

@Nelliepledge
This is exactly how i'm feeling!

I'm wondering if they listen to the heartbeat at the 16 week appointment? Does anyone know if this is done for everyone or does it depend on your midwife/hospital?

Holdmysunhat · 02/12/2023 19:09

@Nelliepledge mine listened for it at my 16 week scan, which was lovely - I was surprised as my last hospital trust didn't. So it depends where you're based, I think. Don't panic if it takes ages to find though (like mine!) I did sort of panic but the midwife was very relaxed about it all!

I'm feeling really good. I've had very minimal symptoms throughout, besides the fatigue where I'm napping by 5 and in bed by 9:30.
Anxiety has been up there but weekly acupuncture has helped with that.
Congrats on the twins too! How are you feeling?

TheBirdintheCave · 03/12/2023 09:18

@venus93 Depends where you are I'm afraid!

LondonFamily · 03/12/2023 10:58

Hi all, I feel kinda silly (happy-but-silly!) as I just found out couple of days back I'm pregnant and due mid of May! I had always had irregular periods and didn't think much when I missed, and also was thrown off my positive ovulation tests in the middle (which I know now were false because of high HCG) and so we just kept trying. Finally took a home test last week that came +ve, was thrilled but slightly worried how far along I could be. Took a private ultrasound and they said 16 weeks 😵Was the happiest shock of my life to see the little baby form on the screen! We're both thrilled but now I'm worried at everything I've missed so far. I didn't have any symtoms at all - no morning sickness, no changes, no fatigue etc. Mayyybe slight soreness in breasts which I blamed on this cold spell.

I'm trying to rush my way through understanding what I've missed and what I should be doing now. I have the first midwife appointment next week and started reading on what foods to avoid etc.

Please please send my way any advice/ resources/ classes etc that you have liked so far! I'm going through this & the previous Due May thread now to read about all your experiences!

xx

junebuglb · 03/12/2023 14:48

@LondonFamily welcome! That’s incredible congratulations 😊

Holdmysunhat · 03/12/2023 15:01

Sorry @Nelliepledge I tagged the wrong person above! Meant to tag @venus93

TheBirdintheCave · 03/12/2023 19:08

@LondonFamily Gosh what a shock! Congrats :D

PeppedUp · 03/12/2023 19:17

@LondonFamily wow, congratulations, what a surprise! I would have actually loved to have missed the first trimester - it was just anxiety and lying on the sofa for me!

You might want to look into booking NCT or any antenatal classes, if you’re interested in doing them. Also, if you have missed the window for the 12 week scan you might want to look for alternatives like NIPT, if you’re interested in testing for Down Syndrome etc.

I don’t think there is much more to organise at this stage, but maybe others have other ideas.

Oh my god what a story! To be honest, having read the two threads I’m sure you’ll have realised you’ve missed such an anxiety inducing time! You’re very lucky to have felt so normal- and now you’re here for the fun part of it being a lot less risky, the time you’ll start getting a bump and feeling it move and it all being a lot more real!

So happy for you- such lovely news! ❤️

nh93 · 03/12/2023 23:53

@LondonFamily congratulations ❤️❤️

Holdmysunhat · 04/12/2023 12:05

@LondonFamily that's lovely news! What a dream to 'skip' the stressy first trimester and find out during the second. Congratulations!

How's the second trimester going for everyone so far?

I'm really enjoying mine after a thoroughly miserable first tri with permanent nausea and vomiting a few times a day. But now at 18 weeks today I'm a pregnancy cliche of a glowing, energetic earth mother. I've been feeling the kicks for a couple of weeks now (it's my second pregnancy so they apparently come a fair bit earlier) and it's all feeling very happy and magical. I'm the complete opposite of the snappy, knackered, furious me of early last month!

Colourfulflowers · 04/12/2023 12:39

@LondonFamily that’s lovely news, congratulations to you!! 😄 as the other ladies mentioned I guess the main thing is to book in your midwife appointment and scan xx

@Holdmysunhat great to hear you are feeling much better in the 2nd and feeling kicks 🥰 I’ve been feeling better too, although still getting some fatigue and feeling sick but not as regularly. I’m 15wks xx

@ everyone - just wondering how everyone is getting on with sleeping at night? I’m doing my best to sleep on my sides, and I have a dreamy pregnancy pillow which I’m boarder-line obsessed with (!!!), aside from waking up to pee every 1.5hrs… I keep waking up at around 4am with my arm/shoulder aching and arms / hands feeling a numb from being on my alternate sides for hours. I end up having to get up and do some shoulder rotations and sit upright for about an hour on the sofa before going back to bed… Is anyone else experiencing this or similar? xx

Sa11yCinnamon · 04/12/2023 14:41

@Colourfulflowers which pregnancy pillow do you have? My sleep is pretty awful at the moment, just really restless and waking loads so I never feel properly refreshed.

Sa11yCinnamon · 04/12/2023 14:44

@Holdmysunhat I feel very much in limbo, as I think a PP said. Still can't feel anything and barely have a bump. I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and seeing the consultant on Wednesday, I'm hoping she scans me or at least listens to the heartbeat as otherwise it will be a long four weeks til my 20 week scan! I am feeling generally pretty good, just very tired still. Going to my first pregnancy yoga class tonight which I'm looking forward to, the website says to bring two pillows and a blanket so it sounds like my kind of class!
