@Athena1984 sorry you're feeling rubbish.

I feel your pain. I'm just back from my second stint in A&E due to HG. Couldn't keep any food down for quite some time. I'm 12 weeks today and even after the stay in A&E, third set of anti sickness tablets, I was still vomiting last night. I'm at my wits end.

The nurse at the hospital was 16 weeks and said her nausea had settled in the last couple of weeks, so I'm hoping it won't be too much longer for us now xx

Athena1984 · 13/11/2023 13:12

@ClrDvs @PeppedUp hope it gets better for us soon 🤞🏽

@ClrDvs praying that this is your last visit to A&E 🙏🏽

PeppedUp · 13/11/2023 17:06

@Toda11 we got our scan appointment over the weekend too - 2nd of January. A good time to buy some baby items in the sales!

@Athena1984 likewise to you (and everyone else waiting for the symptoms to go away). I also have constant headaches, which are apparently a first trimester symptom, and can’t wait for them to clear up.

I thought about doing the NIPT but then I thought, 1 in 200 is still a 99.5% chance that it’s fine and regardless as to whether it has Down syndrome or not, I’d keep it- so I’m just trying not to worry. My screening wasn’t high enough to warrant any further testing so I have to just hope and trust that it’ll be okay. Maybe that’s a naive way of thinking about it?

@LondonGirl1992 it totally makes sense! I looked a bit into what they take into account to determine the risk and I think they're quite conservative.
It made me think that even my high risk is actually really low and they call it high because they have quite strict thresholds. So if they say low risk, you're really low risk!

On the other hand, I'm feeling that my nausea is coming back in the lest couple of days... It's so annoying!

I think the scan helped a lot for the reality of a baby growing inside to sink in...
But I don't think we'll start making any plans for a room and baby items until after the 20 week scan.
Not that we're waiting to reassure ourselves about the baby (although my partner has mentioned that), but for me it just seems too early...

Also, being 38yo, we've got loads of people around us that already had children and many of them are very keep to pass things on to us, so I was thinking of buying the absolute minimum...

@Nina7 Mine has come back this evening 😭

Athena1984 · 13/11/2023 20:27

This is probably a bit TMI (sorry), I am noticing light brown spotting when I wipe down there. No cramps or pain but worried that something is wrong 🙁. Is this common or something to worry about?

Rose5555 · 14/11/2023 07:12

@Athena1984 sorry to hear this - hope you haven’t been stressing too much about it and managed to get some sleep! Spotting can be normal and harmless, but definitely call your midwife to get it checked today. They say to call about any bleeding at all, just to be on the safe side. Fingers crossed for you x

Colourfulflowers · 14/11/2023 09:18

Hey everyone 👋
I’m reading some of the thread and relating to so many of the symptoms and points. I’m 12w4d. I had really bad nausea (like just getting off a rollercoaster) and cramps but they seemed to subside last week and thought they might stop. However the last few days they are back and quite strong, particularly the cramps (like period pains), and I went for a check out of worry but thankfully all is well and sounds like growing pains 💜 We also told our families over the weekend so there was a lot of excitement and we hosted at ours, so wonder if maybe I wore myself out. Is anyone else experiencing this?

@Athena1984 I had a little spotting a few weeks ago, and called the midwife at the time who was reassuring and said some spotting was normal, but I can relate it can be worrying too. Best to call your midwife to discuss and for reassurance too x

Sa11yCinnamon · 14/11/2023 12:47

So I just got a week more pregnant 😂

Thought I was 12+1 but had my scan and measuring 13 weeks with a due date of 21 May.

All looking good, neck measurement normal and blood taken for screening.

Was a wee bit nervous beforehand, not too bad but the relief afterwards is unreal!

TheBirdintheCave · 14/11/2023 12:51

Aww congrats! @Sa11yCinnamon Skipping a week is brilliant too.

nh93 · 14/11/2023 13:21

Hi everyone 👋 i didn't realise there was a part 2 to this group i kept thinking why is everyone so quiet lol

I have a booking in appt this Saturday, il be 12 weeks but still waiting on my scan as i registered to my hospital late. fingers crossed they give it ASAP!

I've been feeling so nauseas, mainly sick in the mornings (vomiting out acid)
absolute struggle to brush my teeth let alone my tongue! anyone else finding it the worst thing ever?
Still sooooo tired too!
hopefully soon il be feeling better xx

Yourowgirl · 14/11/2023 17:41

Hi @nh93 and everyone
I've been reading along with both threads, I'm due at the end of May and have my 12 week scan tomorrow afternoon.
My nausea (with daily vomiting) and fatigue seemed to be getting a bit better, and I let myself hope it was on the way out, but this week it's got bad again (like others on here). I am managing to eat more, and more variety of foods, than a few weeks ago, and I hope it's only a few more weeks before it eases off (pending glow) but just wanted everyone else still suffering to know I feel for you. My husband and Mum are really supportive, but it's hard to explain to people how wearing it is being regularly sick over a couple of months (so far) and with the nausea and indigestion taking turns I only feel OK 10-20% of the day.
So thrilled to be pregnant, and excited for what's to come, but I was not prepared for first trimester to be this much of a struggle!
Best wishes to everyone for your symptoms, scans and pregnancies!

congratulations!
i also feel like no one talks about how HARD the first trimester is, this is my 3rd pregnancy and i definitely can say it's the worst. it's sucha struggle mentally

hopefully you start feeling better soon, and can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy
goodluck with your scan ❤️

Colourfulflowers · 15/11/2023 09:29

@Yourowgirl @nh93 completely agree. I honestly had no idea that the first trimester would be hard. I’m so grateful to be pregnant (it’s felt like a long journey) and sometimes the symptoms get me down and are so confusing, particularly the cramps and the exhaustion. I’ve found these threads so comforting in seeing there are so many other women felling the same 🥰

Yourowgirl · 15/11/2023 13:04

@Colourfulflowers that's it, you almost feel guilty for feeling down or finding it difficult because ultimately you are thrilled to be pregnant, and I know there are people whose symptoms are much worse as well, but I was completely unprepared like you. @nh93noone close to me has had a tough first trimester, I'd only heard about relatively easy and straightforward pregnancies, although just recently I have had some empathy from neighbours that also had a tough time. Sending you both virtual hugs during the times of confusion and mental struggle. Scan is in an hour so hoping that will be a boost of positive feelings/reward xx

thank you! how did your scan go?
I have mine booked for next monday, cannot wait 🥳

Yourowgirl · 15/11/2023 18:20

@nh93thank you so much, everything was in the right place and looking good. Baby was rolling all over the place showing off - such an unbelievable feeling. Best wishes for yours, and I hope you enjoy the special moment as much as we did!

Athena1984 · 15/11/2023 18:46

I had my scan today, everything is looking good 🙂, very relieved , revised due date is 19th May.

Holdmysunhat · 15/11/2023 18:58

A random one but is anyone else getting super annoying sneezing fits? I guess it's pregnancy rhinitis.

LondonGirl1992 · 15/11/2023 19:15

Congratulations to everyone who has had their scans the last few days- so exciting! 🥰

I’ve totally turned a corner- I’ve not been sick since Friday (a few close calls) but considering I was being sick 4 times a day and unable to keep food down, I feel fantastic!

Still don’t have much of an appetite but it’s so lovely to feel human again! I’ve had those crappy feelings for the past 2 weeks- but I think it’s just everything growing and stretching!

Is anyone starting to get a bump yet? I’ve not but my tummy is feeling firmer to the touch!

Toda11 · 15/11/2023 19:28

Small bump here and definitely firmer to touch!

nh93 · 15/11/2023 22:47

@Holdmysunhat yes i have had it with all my pregnancies it's the worst! constant stuffy itchy nose! I found it getting better after the 1st trimester xx

@LondonGirl1992 so glad you're feeling better, how many weeks are you now? i can't wait till my nausea (in the nicest way possible) f's off!! 😭

Holdmysunhat · 15/11/2023 23:41

Isn’t it so annoying @nh93! Hope your nausea F’s off soon soon too!

MrsB2005 · 16/11/2023 08:17

Morning Ladies,

Hope everyone's doing better now we are nearing the end of the first trimester?!?

Had our dating scan yesterday and baby wouldn't stay still at all but everything looked as it should.

Felt very surreal than even though this is #4, it was our little baby on the screen - certainly making things feel more real and exciting.

We are planning on telling our other children over the weekend - I think it will be mixed emotions but I keep telling myself it will all be fine once Bub is here and we can settle into a new / different routine.
