Yeah we’re going to call tomorrow. Just bloody stressful.

Elphamouche · 18/03/2024 20:45

Well we called today and I was told my consultant would call me back. It’s now 8.45 and I’m stressed and pretty done tbh. No ones called, were clearly not being induced.

I’m worried there could be an actual issue with baby’s growth and I’m fuming this is eating into DH’s paternity leave. I’m going to have to kick off tomorrow.

Aquarius93 · 18/03/2024 22:07

@Elphamouche so sorry to hear that and not the stress you need at this stage of pregnancy. I hope you manage to get sorted tomorrow!

Hi everyone, what are your thoughts on travelling near your due date? I’m due in just under two weeks but need to make an overnight visit 1.5 hours away from home later this week. It feels to me like that’s not too far away, but some people think I’m mad! I do have friends and family where I’m going, but my DP won’t be there. I’ll take my hospital bag etc. This is my first baby. I would welcome your views!

@Bluesky85 I went to countryside for 4 days when I had 2 weeks until my due date. It was about a 2 hour drive from my house. For me I didn’t think it was that big a deal because if I had gone in to labour especially for a first baby you would have quite a lot of time. Is someone else going to be able to drive you back if you did go in to labour?

Bluesky85 · 19/03/2024 17:17

@Puddle13 thanks, yes I guess worst case someone could drive me home or to the hospital! My car would be stranded but I guess that would just be a problem for another day. Is it unrealistic to think I could drive in the very early stages of labour? 😂

It would just depend on how you feel, I thought I’d be able to drive! By at 39+1 I’m really uncomfortable in the car at all tbh. I would go though if being in the car isn’t a struggle.

Sadly no update, the hospital brought me into DAU earlier to assess baby, but they are completely full so still not been called in for induction. We’re gutted, DH has now wasted two days paternity (which is unpaid as he’s started a new job, and it can’t be moved because it’s not actually paternity, it’s been moved once as we were told can’t go past 39) and it’s upsetting being told “can’t go past X” only to be past it and nothing looking like it’s changing anytime soon.

I’ve had on off period pains since last night, they’ve got worse earlier this afternoon but nothing really now. Had another S&S earlier but I’m not so confident that will work.

The waiting game is tedious now.

Hope everyone else waiting is doing well!

LeopardLover · 19/03/2024 21:49

@Elphamouche still in newborn survival mode but popped on to say I'm so sorry you've been messed around! My labour started as period pains so hoping things might just start naturally for you. Frustrating about the paternity too 😫 sending lots of positive vibes xx

Elphamouche · 21/03/2024 08:07

We got the call yesterday morning, balloon inserted at 11.50.

By 4.30 we had to release some of the water because I was really not coping. But it was much better after that. They think I’m now in labour and have been since 3am as the pain has changed, and it’s looking like regular contractions.

Praying that this might be the case and no need for the drip! I had a bath at 1am and 6am while waiting for painkillers to kick in 😂. There was no point sleeping.

hopefully little one will be here in the next 24 hours! Hope everyone’s doing okay!

BabyD6 · 21/03/2024 11:29

I am 8 days overdue 😩
Had my second S&S yesterday but also not confident that it’s going to work!
I have been booked in for induction tomorrow! So hoping and praying everything goes well and baby is here by weekend!

Pipperleen · 21/03/2024 11:33

Great news @Elphamouche ! We are labour twins - regular (induced) contractions since midnight, I’ve just been stuck back on the monitor to see what we do next…

Thinking of you! Hope all goes well! We’ve just been told there’s a couple of days wait before they can break my waters so I am praying this baby gets out on its own. I’m so upset and done to be honest. The way this has been handled is an absolute shambles.

Retrogamer · 21/03/2024 12:05

Good luck to everyone on the last stretch, and congratulations to those who have already had their little ones.

I'm due Easter weekend, seeing a midwife soon so hoping I can get a sweep or an idea if my cervix is favourable. Though my first was well overdue.

Acid reflux is pretty bad now, making me sick every night. Gaviscon stops the burning sensation but not the acid travelling up the throat.

Hellopello3 · 21/03/2024 18:52

Hey, I've been induced im in the antenatal ward having had Prostin gel at 3pm, I have backache but thats it so far.

They are going to check me at 9pm and hopefully transfer me to the labour ward.

Dreamhex · 23/03/2024 10:48

Hey! Hope you all don’t mind me dropping in! I’m due the 26th so 3 days away (feels like 3 years away though!)

TMI but yesterday morning I lost basically all my mucus plug in one go it continued throughout the day as well. Immediately after losing the plug I started getting cramps in my belly and back which were regular or not 5 minutes apart etc. I had a sweep after this at 10am yesterday and I was 3cm dilated and midwife said my cervix was favourable and baby was super low (she felt the head so quickly! 😳). The contraction type cramps continued all day until about 10pm when I decided to head to bed. I woke up several times in night in pain and it got a little more intense but gradually eased off enough for me to sleep. Now it’s almost 11am the next morning and I’m only feeling mild cramps again and nothing like the contractions I was feeling yesterday. I’m frustrated and a little upset as I really thought that was it ☹️ I know this is common and normal to happen but it’s so annoying and just needed to rant to people who would understand. Hope everyone else is doing okay?

Hey, don’t be disheartened. I had a week of stop start labour and I know how frustrating it can be. When I finally went into “proper” labour I went from watching bargain hunt and starting to prep some food, to calling my husband and telling him we had to get to the hospital ASAP within the space of an hour. Baby came a few hours later.

all of the contractions will be helping you progress and working towards meeting your baby :) you’re almost there mama!

Thank you for much for this it’s definitely what I need to hear at the moment! Can’t believe how quick it can ramp up eventually!

Was it really obvious when ‘proper’ active labour started for you? I hate the idea of missing it some how 🙈

TMI!! but I lost a lot more of my mucus plug at 12:30am this morning and it had blood in it too. I’m still losing mucus with blood in it when I wipe and can’t believe I still some in there 🤢 I’ve been getting irregular contractions all night again and still getting them now 12 hours later but they haven’t ramped up in time or intensity so still playing the long hard waiting game!

Elphamouche · 24/03/2024 15:52

@Dreamhex The mucus plug was SO MUCH more than I expected!!!

Well, things all took a turn and our perfect baby girl arrived by Ventouse at 0127 on the 22nd March ❤️. Turns out I was in labour, and finally at 19:30ish on the 21st another midwife came in and agreed with my mum that I needed an VE. Confirmed at 5cm dilated!

Headed down to delivery suite and I don’t know what happened but instinct just took over. So Gas and Air only - which actually wasn’t the plan because I’d been in so much pain all day that I was thinking epidural. Just had to get the ventouse because I was so tired - I’d been awake nearly 24 hours with contractions by that point and I just couldn’t get her round the bend.

I did lose a lot of blood, they had said we were looking at theatre for a haemorrhage but thankfully avoided that at the last minute.

We came home Friday evening, I just needed my own bed. Both doing okay, little one is incredible, she’s jaundice but the midwives are happy she doesn’t need treatment at the moment so have another check tomorrow.

TMI warning - is anyone else suffering with the most horrific piles?! This is the biggest struggle for me right now, they’re actually horrific!

Aquarius93 · 25/03/2024 00:15

Congratulations @Elphamouche! Good to hear you are back home and doing well. Our little boy has been slightly jaundice too - the midwives are checking him over again tomorrow when he’ll be two weeks old, so hoping it’s cleared on its own!

I had so many ‘starts’ that I also had this fear that I wouldn’t know when it was the real deal. I somehow just knew. I can’t say it felt different to the multiple prodromal episodes I had other than the fact that the intensity did seem to ramp up more. When I was on the way to the hospital I had a horrible feeling I was wrong and wasting their time but by the time I walked through the doors it was was significantly more intense and I was confident it was happening.

i was only 2cm dilated though, and I didn’t get beyond 5 until about 30 mins before baby arrived. The same happened with my first so I knew to advocate for myself and my knowledge of my body but with my first labour I let them send me home and then almost had him in an ambulance being rushed back an hour later. So trust yourself and your instincts. There will be a point where it becomes unmistakable and you’ll know for sure :)

macki · 25/03/2024 08:39

Congratulations all who have had their little ones. Hope everyone is well. Thank you for being really open because it helps to know what to really expect! I was originally due on 26th but scan moved it to 22nd. Still no sign of baby. Had mild cramping one night last week but didn’t come to anything. Increasingly stiff and sore pelvic area now. We shall continue the waiting game, bouncing on my ball and drinking raspberry leaf tea. Getting induced 1st Apr if she doesn’t make an appearance this week.

Just thought I’d update you on this! After stop start labour since Friday my waters broke at 1:30am yesterday morning! I went to the hospital as soon as they broke (as I thought the waters looked a funny colour - they were perfectly normal). I had a sweep and check and I was still 3cms, the same I was on Friday! This was at about 12pm in the afternoon started to contract regular at 3pm and arrived at the hospital at 10cms dilated and ready to push - what a wild ride 😂 congratulations to everyone that has already given birth to your little ones and good luck to everyone still waiting (just don’t be like me and wait until the last minute 🙈)

macki · 23/10/2024 21:44

Hope everyone is doing well 6 months on! Labour was awfully painful and complicated, birth was traumatic and almost fatal, I was hospitalised 3 weeks postpartum requiring surgery and my baby was hospitalised for a few days at 5 weeks but thankfully all good now. Nearly starting to feel normal again but still not recovered?! I see people spring back within 6 weeks 😂😭

KatY9876 · 24/10/2024 08:20

Hello @macki are you on messenger? A lot of us chat daily. Sorry to hear you had a traumatic time. I could get someone to post the link if you want for Facebook messenger?

No I don’t use Facebook. Shame this thread fell off
