@Allaboard209 I just checked and we bathed my toddler after 17 days! He didn't smell at all 😂 we also waited for the cord to drop off! ❤️

LeopardLover · 05/02/2024 16:32

@Thwam I wish I knew someone recommended, might need to quickly find someone 😅 I'll post in a local group now!

Hiddenvoice · 05/02/2024 18:30

@Allaboard209 we top and tailed for the first few days and then when our little one turned about a week old we gave her a very shallow bath. Couldn’t avoid it with a Poonami!! 🤦‍♀️😅 We did a lot of nappy off time though and put down disposable changing mats so she could lie there to air out the cord.

A lady bathed her little girl in the hospital, hospital had little baths and were happy to help if we wanted it as not everyone wants to leave the vernix on.

Brawcolli · 06/02/2024 19:14

@LeopardLover I’ve literally just started getting sciatic pain which is ruining my nesting plans too! Between that and the palpitations I get if I switch between standing up/sitting down too quickly, I’m a mess 😭

Brawcolli · 06/02/2024 19:21

@Allaboard209 when I had my son, the midwives in the hospital came over with a little bath on wheels and showed us how to properly wash him, which was helpful as I was terrified tbh 😭

I think when we came home we just dunked his bum in a big baking bowl every few days and washed his face with cotton wool. I’ve just had a look through my photos and found a picture of his first real bath at home, it was just over a week after his birth and his cord had finally fallen off! They do get a bit stinky, two weeks seems like a long time without a proper wash imo!

Hiddenvoice · 06/02/2024 21:05

Just to update, I phoned my midwife in tears yesterday about the pain and asked if it was unreasonable to phone 111 for help. She referred me for urgent physio and I was seen within hours.
I’ve now got crutches, some very strong pain killers and lots of exercises to do as well as a follow up for next week.
It might just be my local nhs (I’m in Scotland) so our wait times might be better but my midwife and the hospital said if it’s excruciating pain and you’re having trouble walking then you need seen quickly.

LeopardLover · 06/02/2024 22:34

@Hiddenvoice I'm glad you've been referred and you have pain meds! Thinking of you x

Thwam · 07/02/2024 10:51

@Hiddenvoice so glad you’ve managed to get some help! Hope you’re feeling better asap!

Aquarius93 · 07/02/2024 12:36

@Hiddenvoice so glad to hear you’ve got some help! It sounds like you must have been at breaking point with the pain!

Anyone else feeling like they’re having the biggest baby ever? Honestly, there’s no space left for him, he’s pressing into both my hips and ribs at the same time. And still 6 weeks of growing left 😂

IVFGotThis05 · 08/02/2024 16:08

@Hiddenvoice Meee! I've got 2 in there and I swear there's no where left for them to go!! The rib pain is something else!!! There's just constant lumps of back and bum sticking out lol. I'm 33 weeks and got 4 weeks left of growing! They're already 4.5 and 4.6lbs!!

Brawcolli · 09/02/2024 17:27

Wondering if I should start washing the almighty heap of baby clothes or if it’s too early- I’m 33 weeks 🤔 don’t want them to just get all cupboard- musty but I really want to sort them out!

Retrogamer · 09/02/2024 18:06

@Brawcolli
I'm also 33 weeks, hopefully moving home within 2 weeks. I don't have many clothes this time round but this week I have washed baby's clothes and packed them up in a separate box (and some for the hospital bag)

I'm starting to get nervous now, I just hope there's a clean living space for him when he is born. DS1 was two weeks late, so perhaps I have a while to go yet...

We are moving too but I will be 38 weeks - must be mad! We’ve packed a hospital bag with clean clothes and left it at a family members house (5 mins away) until post-move but petrified little one will come early and the next to me won’t be put up yet …

Retrogamer · 09/02/2024 18:49

@SJ456 gosh 38 weeks! hopefully things go smoothly for you 😊
We have been packing bits and bobs so that theres less to do the day before. Having the hospital bag at a relatives is a good idea, I may have to follow suit.

Good luck with everything!

Brawcolli · 09/02/2024 19:43

@Retrogamer Right! You’ve convinced me, I’m going to start washing them tomorrow! I’m genuinely excited about doing this laundry, lol. Good luck with the move Smile

Odd question maybe but does any one else feel really bruised (bruised being the best way to describe the discomfort) down below? It's more when I walk around I notice it and it gets worse as the day goes on. I assume it's the pressure but I don't remember it so much with my daughter first time round.

Puddle13 · 12/02/2024 15:33

@Busylizzie85 i have been feeling really heavy down there it’s defo getting worse as the baby is getting deeper in the pelvis and sometimes can be quite painful. Especially when they move around and can only assume they slam their head in to my cervix.

i do, and also don’t remember it with my first. I’m guessing it gets worse with subsequent pregnancies as you aren’t quite as ‘strong’ down there second time around 😂

Busylizzie85 · 12/02/2024 15:48

Oh I'm glad it's not just me then @glasspaw @Puddle13 I am starting to panic that she could come at any time now 😬

@Busylizzie85 I have this with SPD, it might be a bit of that kicking in too? Feels like I’ve been kicked in the crotch! Think the general heaviness/downwards pressure is also quite normal though so might be hard to tell which is causing it 😅

Elphamouche · 12/02/2024 16:17

Yeah it almost feels a bit swollen when I wipe, but it isn’t! Glad it’s not just me.

Aquarius93 · 12/02/2024 16:33

@Busylizzie85 I had this in my first pregnancy although that was due to pelvic girdle pain - basically feeling like I had been kicked in the pubic bone.

PGP isn’t as strong this pregnancy but I have a general heaviness and pressure from baby!

NewbiePL · 12/02/2024 20:14

Hi all I’ve been a long time lurker and finally had the courage to make an account to join. I can’t believe a lot of us are saying our babies are due next month! I’ve picked up lots of tips and advice following this thread. Wishing you a healthy and safe last few weeks of pregnancy xx

LeopardLover · 12/02/2024 20:36

@NewbiePL Welcome!! 😊

I have PGP and have had the fullness feeling for a few months I'd say. In my last pregnancy I only felt the pressure / bruising from week 40 onwards! I'm getting so many shooting pains this time, I often dramatically fall to the closest soft surface (unless my toddler is around because he gets panicked 😂).

Baby is coming w/c 26th for me. So soon ... 😬 I'm trying to pack this hospital bag!

NewbiePL · 12/02/2024 21:05

Thank you for the welcome @LeopardLover sorry to hear you’re suffering with PGP and have been for a while now. Hope it starts easing or at least becomes more bearable. I’m due a similar time and planning to pack my bag next week. I think it’ll start feeling so much more real at that point.
