Just got positive on a covid test, almost had to go to A&E last night because I'm so ill, really worried about my baby.

Oh I’m so sorry - been there a few weeks ago, it’s awful. Have you phoned your midwife? They can check you over, including your fluid levels etc and give you a bit of reassurance if needed x

Cheetocat · 20/10/2023 10:57

@User0224 I don't get to be in contact with a midwife where I am but I was able to email my gp and she gave me some advice on what to take and how to handle things a bit better so that was reassuring.

Cheetocat · 20/10/2023 11:15

Finally got my NIPT results, I assumed it would be more in depth, just says "zero chromosomal anomalies detected", which I suppose is good. 6% fetal DNA.

Yeah oddly some brands give detailed percentages and some don’t! In my first pregnancy I had percentages for everything they tested, all of which were very specific numbers and different. This time the brand just said “zero found” for everything like yours! Anyway, congrats, that’s good news at least haha :)

Cheetocat · 20/10/2023 13:31

@User0224 Thank you, I'm very pleased that they had nothing to report. I think if I ever have a baby again I'll look for a company that goes into more detail. 😅

Cheetocat · 20/10/2023 13:35

I don't really want a pram with a bassinet or a car seat attachment, we live in an apartment with no elevator so I'll have to haul it up and down the stairs. When I look at regular buggies that say "0 months +" or "from birth" they don't seem to recline as much as a newborn would need and I don't see how the straps would be secure enough either, it's all very confusing. I suppose I'm glad I have loads of time to figure it out. Can't believe this baby will be out in the world in about 17 weeks!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 20/10/2023 21:32

After my post the other day, I've now realised he is moving etc but cos he's moved up it's back to feeling like flutters and like a wiggly worm in my tummy, not strong/easily noticeable like it was when he was lower in the pelvic region.
Is that ok for 23 weeks? Is anyone else still getting flutter type movement?
Could it be cos I have a tummy anyway why it's less strong in that area?

Cheetocat · 20/10/2023 22:41

@CheeseAndCrackersx I'm having kicks that are visible/felt on the outside but I don't feel them on the inside or they're just a mild flutter. Also still have flutters low down. I'd say it's all down to their position and what part of them is moving. An elbow versus knee etc..

CheeseAndCrackersx · 21/10/2023 12:23

Totally random question but do you need to buy sheets for a next 2 me crib?

Yes, you should probably get at least two sheets for it, they're quite expensive but I'm sure there are some knock offs floating about online.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 21/10/2023 13:06

Thank you @Cheetocat 😀 I've seen some 2 pack ones on Amazon or eBay for about £18.
I didn't even think cos all you ever see is cot sheets in shops

I'll add them to my list 😄

PeeBeee · 21/10/2023 13:43

Anyone have an upset tummy in pregnancy so far? I woke up with diarrhoea this morning then was fine for a few hours. Went to bed to nap an hour ago but unsuccessfully as I had diarrhoea 4 more times within in an hour. Im on iron tablets so it was dark green and smells absolutely foul🤢

LavenderSweetPea · 21/10/2023 13:58

@CheeseAndCrackersx don't forget waterproof mattress protectors for your next to me crib as well to go under the sheets... This is my first so I've got no experience myself but I asked a mum friend if that was really necessary and she just laughed at me and asked me where baby was going to sleep when there was an accident 😅

Ihatewinding · 21/10/2023 14:28

One thing that's good is to get a large muslin, fold over so better protection and lay it where top half of baby will be so if they posset/vomit after you've put them down generally the undersheet is safe and doesn't need changing - make sure to tuck edges down side of mattress so can't come loose and be a risk. They're not meant to be put to sleep with bibs on so this helps with refluxy babies and less washing!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 21/10/2023 14:36

Good shout 🙂 Thank you @LavenderSweetPea. My first too. Thank god for this forum or I'd feel quite alone I think xx

xTinkerbell · 21/10/2023 16:28

does anyone mind sharing what their PAPP-A was? I’ve just been looking on the app and saw mine is 0.56. From what I’ve read above 0.4 is fine but I’m worried anyway

LavenderSweetPea · 21/10/2023 16:33

@xTinkerbell mine was 0.42 so only just above three 0.4 threshold. I've not been told I need to do anything about that. It's a little concerning but I have a growth scan booked in at 28 weeks for separate reasons so we'll be able to check in on how baby is growing.

Cheetocat · 21/10/2023 16:49

Anyone's gums feeling weird? I have been sucking on hard sweets for my throat and can't tell if I've suddenly damaged my teeth over just two days or if its a pregnancy thing. 😅Baby is still targeting my bladder with his movements so here I am off for a wee for the 9th time only to stand up and realise I haven't got all the wee out and need to finish!

Hankthehonk · 21/10/2023 16:53

@xTinkerbell I have officially low papp a at 0.27 so I'll be getting extra growth scans from 28 weeks. Anything above 0.4 is in normal range so you don't need to worry

xTinkerbell · 21/10/2023 16:58

@Hankthehonk @LavenderSweetPea Thank you, my notes say ‘Intermediate risk of preterm birth’ and I’m not sure why that’s why I worried. I don’t have a midwife appt until the 3rd of Nov and no one’s mentioned it to me so confused by that’s on my notes. That’s why I went digging through them to see if I could explain it.

DmcinT · 21/10/2023 17:01

@Cheetocat yes my gums feel swollen or something the last few days, I was wondering was it pregnancy related or had I a wee infection in my mouth 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s just my bottom teeth I notice it on at the min

Cheetocat · 21/10/2023 17:06

@DmcinT Ahh, glad it's not just me, hope it's not something that lasts long!

LavenderSweetPea · 21/10/2023 17:27

@xTinkerbell my notes say the same about preterm birth risk. But I'm pretty sure they've said that since my booking in appt due to previous cervical procedures.

Mummapenguin20 · 21/10/2023 19:50

Ladies that have pre term birth risks do you know what position your placenter is mines now fundal witch puts me at high risk for pre term. I had fundal with my second n she was 6 weeks early 🙈

Evening all, I really don't want to sound stupid but I'm starting to worry that I don't know how to actually look after a baby. Is it normal to feel like that with your first? Don't get me wrong, I've never been so excited for anything, but I'm so nervous that I don't feel I know enough.

Would you say it's best just to read books or are there classes for this sort of thing?
