Our baby boy arrived yesterday at 38 weeks and earlier than c section planned which was meant to be on 6th December.
I started getting contractions on Thursday evening and they were painful and frequent. C section went well and we are in post natal ward potentially.going home later today!

afternoontea86 · 25/11/2023 19:14

Congratulations @wannabemum38 ! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hi everyone, appreciate I'm quite late joining but I'm due on the 14th December with baby no.3, a girl after two boys!

Just looking to make some new online friends with babies around the same age! All my friends are finished with children, the youngest having just turned one.

afternoontea86 · 25/11/2023 19:21

Just spending these last few weeks soaking up the time as a family of four and getting everything ready for her. I'm feeling very tired and I just want her out! Anyone else feel the same?

SMG1992 · 26/11/2023 07:10

Welcome @afternoontea86! we have the same due date!
I feel exactly the same re tiredness, this is my first so luckily I don’t have any little ones to look after at the moment

i had my growth scan yesterday. I’m carrying the top of the normal amount of water along with a big baby boy (currently estimated 8lb4 at 37+2) so this makes sense why my bump is huge!
sonographer said to expect a tidal wave when my waters break 🤣

afternoontea86 · 26/11/2023 09:15

@SMG1992 How fabulous we have the same due date! You must be so excited with your first. One is in full time school and the other is in 5 mornings a week so I do get a little break from them!

I had my growth scan on Friday and baby girl is estimated complete opposite of yours 6lb1 so slightly smaller than expected but apparently nothing to worry about. I'm happy about that though because I have a small figure and my boys were huge so it was a nightmare getting them out! How funny about a tidal wave! 😂

FirstMondayInMay · 26/11/2023 10:17

@afternoontea86 welcome, I’m also due on the 14th! But would quite happily have him here sooner, I’m beyond fed up now

how lovely that you’re having a girl after two little boys😊

Nclktnntt · 26/11/2023 12:54

Welcome @afternoontea86

Awww so glad to hear littles one doing good in there @SMG1992 they're a good weight too. Im hoping our little one comes on time or early as their head and tummy are on the larger side already at 35weeks and I'm trying not to freak out about that part 😂

I washed our little ones wardrobe the other day and feel I need loads more baby clothes - which now we have a rough idea of weight will be much easier to buy for them. How many items have you all brought? We only have 5 vests in newborn, 5 in upto 1 month and 6 0-3 (brought for us), sleep suits we only have 4 newborn and 3 0-3, so definitely need a few more of those. And no actual outfits for them yet - I don't see the point given they'll be living in their sleep suits for the first couple weeks and I can go shopping at some point with them. We need hats too - but what size? Apparently socks. - but do they need socks when the sleep suits all have feet?

We have the same due date, Dec 14th!

This will also be my third child.

I already have a boy and a girl and this will be another girl.

Welcome and I hope those last few weeks will go well for us :)

afternoontea86 · 26/11/2023 15:18

Congratulations @hotpotlover ! So many people due on the 14th!

@Nclktnntt Hope this helps:
I've got (I had a lot from the boys so this is more than you need):

REMEMBER - A cold baby will cry, a hot baby will die. I know it sounds dark but it really is true. Don't over dress them, if they're cold you'll know about it.

Is anyone else really terrified for giving birth? I've done it twice before but with an epidural. I hated not being able to move around so attempting without this time but I'm so scared!

FirstMondayInMay · 26/11/2023 16:03

@Nclktnntt I've followed a rule of 10s for baby’s clothes to start with, so 10 vests, 10 babygrows, 10 muslins. Then just a few pairs of socks and mittens because like you said most babygrows have them built in. I think if you can wash and dry them quick enough then you really don’t need loads, especially of newborn bits!

Charlielechat · 26/11/2023 17:06

Wow I'm starting to panic now that I don't have enough clothes! I've only got a few sleepsuits and vests in each size, as well as a few little dungaree outfits, but I definitely think I'm going to have to start buying more...
@FirstMondayInMay have you got 10 of each size, or have you just bought 10 in one size?

stardust25609 · 26/11/2023 17:13

Hey all, just wanted to let you know our baby girl arrived safely on 23rd November via planned c section. Her sugars were totally fine despite my GD and being on insulin so no NICU stay and we got to go home next day. All are doing well. First day recovery was a bit tough, but on day 3 and pain is more a low level dull ache and manageable even without painkillers. Fingers crossed this lasts! I've been gulping down the peppermint tea and fybogel both pre and post birth to help with bowel stuff, and moving around a fair bit.

I saw some asks on clothes, she came out 7lbs 9oz and is very definitely newborn size, even up to 1 month is big on her. I got a fair few on vinted so think we've got about 10 newborn sleepsuits and bodysuits, which is working for us to rotate as we hate washing and had a few nappy leaks already. I guess it depends on your baby's proportions, but in particular have found the arms on mamas and papas sleep suits very tight and long, next and joules fit perfectly, and Asda and sains seem big but very comfortable as can just roll sleeves up. Also got a couple of top and trouser outfits for things like meeting grandparents, and actually quite like these as can just whip the trousers off easily for a nappy change (she hates these and screams through them so quicker is definitely better). However she does kick the socks off! Also loving the love to dream swaddle that I think someone on this thread recommended so thanks for that!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Charlielechat · 26/11/2023 17:27

Congratulations @stardust25609 Wonderful news and glad you're both doing well! Thanks for the tips on clothes!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 26/11/2023 18:30

Welcome @afternoontea86! I am a bit nervous about the birth but I’m having a c-section so in theory it’s more predictable but I had an emergency section last time so I was really out of when I went into surgery which in a way made it easier as I wasn’t nervous. Now I’m wondering what I’ll be like when I’m completely aware.

Congratulations @stardust25609 ! Glad pain is subsiding. I’m hoping to be as quick recovering too. I’ve got peppermint tea and will start it early as I had a really bad pain last time in my shoulder from trapped air which panicked me as no one mentioned that could be a thing.

On clothing, I have my son’s old clothes which were stored away and have now been washed but he was a summer baby so I need to review things and see what to buy. He has some nice winter suits but they’re too big so that’s something I need.
