@Flowersandfloral I feel exactly the same.
I've got 3 weeks of work left and am really struggling as I feel like a zombie!
I'm the head of department and like you am usually super on it, but I'm really flagging at the moment.
This week should be my last high pressure week at work, but obviously expectations are still for me to be on top form and I'm really not :(

ThomasinaLivesHere · 09/11/2023 13:47

I’ve got 5 weeks left at work. I’m wondering whether to bring it forward a week as I do seem to be getting more tired. Also my son will be in nursery all that final week so I might get a nice rest. I tried to have a day off today but typical nursery called an hour after dropping off to say he’d been sick so nice relaxing day isn’t happening.

Flowersandfloral · 09/11/2023 14:27

@SMG1992 same here! My whole team are so used to me being on top form with everything I can practically feel them thinking what on earth is going on with her! Driving me mad. I pride myself on my abilities at work usually!

Flowersandfloral · 09/11/2023 14:28

I'm also really not enjoying handing over my work to anyone else 🙈 it's like losing some of my identity!

SMG1992 · 09/11/2023 14:58

@Flowersandfloral Same, I've had quite a long handover, it will be 3 months by the time I leave and they are really settling in well but I'm a control freak and can't let go!
I hoping all of this disappears as soon as I'm on mat leave! I'm going to delete emails off my phone and do my to switch off for a few days before the baby is here!
@ThomasinaLivesHere How much time have you given yourself before your due date? It sounds like you could do with at least a few days.

RG84 · 09/11/2023 16:28

My last day is the 17th Nov and i'm really looking forward to it! 5 more working days left! This weekend I will be packing my bag.

Does anyone's trust give out the Emma Diary labour packs? I had my 34 week appointment today and they don't have them. Does this still exist?

I'm annoyed for paying £25 on a colostrum harvesting kit when my midwife gave me a pack today :/

RG84 · 09/11/2023 16:56

I also can't remember who mentioned not being allowed to keep their laptop during maternity leave for KIT days. I've just found out that I can't either due to audit reasons so I am now having to get approval from our CFO. Hoping she approves but waiting to hear back.

Nclktnntt · 10/11/2023 07:59

Finally ordered our beside me bed for baby yesterday - @Undercoverunicorn announcing her little baby boy at 35+5 (only 2+5 weeks ahead of us) kinda made us realise, it's all very real and coming in fast now! we really need to get the important bits in place just in case over here!

Has anyone seen the Tommee tippee closer to nature bottles? They're glass which is infinitely more hygienic on the whole than plastic but obv it's glass - so drop them and they're done, I don't think you can swap teats either as they seem a weird shape so if baby refuses them you've got a redundant bottle. Has anyone got little ones and used them before? I've not heard great things about the tommee tippee teats in general so I'd ignored their bottles to be honest but these ones have caught my eye and I'd like to try them I think? I've also been told by lots of moms that finding the right teat can also be difficult as each baby is deferent and the shape and flow is a bit of a puzzle until you find the right one, so should we buy a few different teats just incase? Are most interchangeable across the bottles (excluding the bottles mentioned above of course).

Trying to get my head around the bottle and tears minefield 😂

Well I was right about my BP being higher, got admitted to hospital last night as it's was pretty high. Baby doing absolutely fine though which is a relief! I was hoping for an early escape today but apparently I'm measuring 97th percentile (midwife never told me had gone up from 85th) so got a scan at 3:30 this afternoon. Got a migraine now though as hospitals are so warm!

SMG1992 · 10/11/2023 11:07

@Flowersandfloral I hope you are feeling ok?
Is that you admitted until after the scan then?
I hope all goes well with your scan!

Flowersandfloral · 10/11/2023 11:17

@SMG1992 yes I'm feeling alright thank you! Just spoken to doctor on rounds and I'm here until this evening and they're happy BP is stable. They think it's gestational hypertension at the mo!

Was meant to be having my surprise work leaving party this afternoon 🙈😂

RG84 · 10/11/2023 17:18

@Flowersandfloral hope you are doing okay there, hang in there.

I've just ordered the Aptimal starter pack ready bottles with teets and normal formula. Gosh I have so much to do yet and get ready. It's also making me really paranoid with the ladies giving birth before 38 weeks and earlier. i have 3.5 weeks left so praying baby stays there before my section date!

wannabemum38 · 10/11/2023 20:58

I finished work today so officially on maternity leave feels very surreal.
I'm having a c section now first week of December due to low lying placenta so 3 weeks to go!

RG84 · 11/11/2023 12:54

Hi ladies hope you are doing well. I'm really starting to feel some pressure and getting uncomfortable. Hope you are all doing well.

Had anyone been told when to stop taking aspirin tablets? I was told on my booking appointment but forgotten and the other day I had a midwife appointment, not with my normal midwife and surprisingly she didn't know and asked me to check with my consultant. Annoyed about that but checking if anyone knows? I'll be calling my normal midwife on Monday morning to check

Mushroo · 11/11/2023 13:15

@RG84 mine said 36 weeks :). Hope you’re not feeling too uncomfortable!

TulipVictory · 11/11/2023 15:57

@wannabemum38 wow how exciting it's also my last shift today. It feels a bit surreal, im not sure whether I feel happy about it or not.

Has anyone else experienced lightening crutch recently? I'll be walking along and then all of a sudden it feels like the baby is trying to give me a stretch and sweep 🙈

GlitterDragon · 11/11/2023 19:05

@TulipVictory
Unfortunately I’ve been experiencing this for the last 2 weeks. It’s so painful, and especially when I’m walking around somewhere. Another term for it is Fanny Daggers, and think this is appropriate.

Anyone else having or preparing for a home birth?

RG84 · 11/11/2023 20:49

@Mushroo 36 weeks rings a bell and also says that online but I will double check with my midwife as well on Monday. Thank you. Its getting tough now, and I'm definitely getting the fanny daggers or lightening crutch lol..I actually thought something was happening which freaked me out :/

My last working day is the 17th November so I'm really looking forward to that. I only have 2 weeks annual leave before my section date so I hope baby can hold fire until my date so I can enjoy my time off and with my toddler as well.

Flowers90 · 11/11/2023 22:57

I'm working until 38.5 weeks so finishing on the 15 December. Getting really uncomfortable now though and finding it hard to focus at work in the afternoons especially. Hoping it passes quickly!

Nclktnntt · 12/11/2023 08:49

Im the same as you @Flowers90 working up until 38+4. I hope I can still stand for long periods of time come then 🤞. I do have a feeling baby might come early though, by about a week I think, I don't know why, but it's a feeling that I can't shake, so I'm going to pre-write an email to send to my customers if they do arrive before I've broke up, just in case they're early early.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 12/11/2023 10:15

My last day is also 15 December but seriously thinking of using a week or two of annual leave to leave earlier. I’ve had two bad colds so really want to take is easy and not get sick again. Also I don’t have date for section. It could potentially be as early as 22nd.

Thamantha · 12/11/2023 14:10

@Nclktnntt @Flowers90 Snap! MY last day i will be 38+4. Glad to hear i am not the only one working close to the date. My first was 9 days late so I didn't see the value in going off earlier.

I started to pack my hospital bag today - i forgot how much stuff needs to go in there!

Flowers90 · 12/11/2023 16:35

I've ended up in hospital as baby has a high heart rate. Was 210 at community midwife this am. Was sent to our .since hospital for checks where it remained high for 45 mins before settling. They were unsure wether they would have to do an ecs. Since been transferred to our nearest big hospital with a large neonatal and fetal medical unit for review tomorrow 😥

Flowersandfloral · 12/11/2023 17:15

@Flowers90 bless you, that must have been really scary. Glad to hear that baby has settled again now, and definitely best place for you to be so you can both be monitored properly.

Hope you're ok and keep us posted! X

ThomasinaLivesHere · 12/11/2023 17:50

@Flowers90 Sorry to hear that, must have been scary. Hope you’re doing ok x
