Tentatively seeing if anyone else is due then yet?

I got a positive digital this morning and based on Ovulation I'd be due 30th April and 2nd May based on LMP, but until the dating scan that could easily change a week either way based on previous babies!

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that @Plumful. Always hard but must be especially tough when they’re so close to you. Big hugs. ❤️

HopeAndChocolate · 18/11/2023 21:33

Yep @Irish34 we have a few very small bits but think we’ll be the same and wait till 20 weeks for the key items. I’m eyeing up the Fox 5 so glad to hear you’re a Bugaboo fan!

Plumful · 18/11/2023 21:45

I’m feeling down. I’ve never been a fan of baby showers etc for this reason, I got invited to one this weekend but declined it, best to wait until baby is safely here.

Iamcatmum · 29/11/2023 17:37

How is everyone doing? We did a private scan last week and found out we are having a little boy 🩵💙. Starting to feel some movements now too.

HopeAndChocolate · 30/11/2023 08:05

Congratulations @Iamcatmum - how lovely. 🥰 Apart from all the weeing, broken sleep and occasional headache, I’m feeling a lot like myself pre-pregnancy which is really nice. Do not miss the first trimester! I think I’m feeling thing but being my first baby, I have nothing to compare it to and don’t know if it’s just my body doing its thing haha.

lenalove · 30/11/2023 10:37

Oh that's lovely news @Iamcatmum ! I am like you @HopeAndChocolate it's my first so I am not 100% sure if what I am feeling is movement yet haha 😅happy the nausea has finally eased up though (replaced by heartburn but I'll take it!)

barbiecharley1 · 30/11/2023 10:39

Awww congrats. @Iamcatmum

i'm on baby1 too. i don't think i've felt any movements yet. but i've heard they are very light. i'm 18+5 days. my bump is starting to come along quite nicely now though.

Nynm23 · 30/11/2023 12:46

Glad everyone is doing well! Much like everyone else starting to feel normal again, the odd migraine but I’ll take it over the vomiting and nausea!

We had our private scan, and with great difficulty found out we are having a girl which we are delighted about! No struggles with names as I have a few girls names I love and zero boy names 😂

20 week anomaly scan next week, hoping the sonographer can double confirm before I start making any purchases!

Not sure who was asking about prams, but I’m swayed towards the UppAbaby Vista - I like the tandem compatibility for future proofing.

Irish34 · 30/11/2023 13:08

How is everyone feeling. I am 17 weeks now and only in last last 2 weeks am I feeling normal again. Apart from the fact my thighs are now double their size!! I started feeling movement just before 16 weeks which I couldn’t believe. I had an anterior placenta on my first so only felt movement around 21 weeks so this seems super early to me. It also feels different as it’s not a full kick. I am struggling to find nice clothes for Christmas tho!

Iamcatmum · 30/11/2023 13:09

@HopeAndChocolate @lenalove @barbiecharley1 @Nynm23 . Thanks everyone!

Glad everyone’s symptoms are easing a bit too or at least changing away from nausea, and that our little bumps are coming along nicely

Agree totally that the baby names are way harder for boys - have hardly any ideas!

This is my first too, but I definitely feel like they are baby movements. Feels like little tiny turns or squirms - some say it feels a bit like gas or bubbles. There is a possibility it could be gas and I’m just wishful thinking! 😂

The travel systems are a nightmare to get your head round - I did like the look of the UPPAbaby vista though. Bugaboo Fox5 looks great too but so expensive 😨

Nynm23 · 30/11/2023 13:45

@Iamcatmum My friend has an UppAbaby and loves it - I think it’s a little heavier than others but really well made. Going this weekend to have a look as parents are buying us our pram which is fab!

Its just all the other stuff that is marketed to you as soon as the algorithms know your pregnant! So much you could buy but prob not half necessary- trying to be super selective about needs vs gimmicks!

Has anyone booked looked into birthing courses/hypnobirthing? Or had any experiences with previous pregnancies?

Nynm23 · 30/11/2023 13:49

@Irish34 Also struggling with the clothes situation. I was a 16/18 pre pregnancy so buying a size up is limited to plus size ranges, which nice stuff is usually limited.

I being bombarded by BeyondNine ads but very casual and slightly spenny

lenalove · 30/11/2023 14:01

@Nynm23 we are going to do the NCT course in March mainly as a way to meet other prospective parents, but I reckon it'll be useful for prep too!

I just bough some maternity over the bump jeans from H&M and they are fantastic - would strongly recommend. Then I just team them with baggy jumpers so haven't needed to buy much else just yet.

Due1stmay · 30/11/2023 15:49

Hi everyone - so pleased to hear you’re all doing well. I’m 18+2 now and like everyone feeling so much better. Very headachy and exhausted but so much better than the constant vomitting! We’ve found out we are having another boy and told our 4 year old son which was totally magical. 🥰 20 week scan mid December which I’m excited (and scared!) about. I’m not feeling any movement yet as I have an anterior placenta (my first pregnancy was also an anterior) but desperately feeling out for any flutters!

Plumful · 30/11/2023 17:03

I’ve felt flutters too, got to hear heartbeat at 16 week appt which was great

I strongly recommend the positive birth company digital hypnobirthing course it’s a bargain. It covers all aspects of labour and birth and I went into my first labour feeling so informed and empowered, had a lovely water birth.

barbiecharley1 · 30/11/2023 17:05

one of my friends recommended this

birth-ed.co.uk/blog-1/tag/megan+rossiter+hypnobirthing

i also want to do NCT. everyone has said that regardless of the course, you'll need the support of other mothers who have children at the same time as you. so you can ask questions, meet up etc.

i'm trying to get a load of hand me downs to save some money on new baby stuff.

HopeAndChocolate · 30/11/2023 18:07

Glad to hear that @Plumful as I’ve got bought the PBC hypnobirthing too - was on offer for Black Friday!

Will do NCT too as like others have said, it’ll be nice to have local friends with babies the same age.

Our scan is mid December which feels lovely at this festive time of year. 🥰

barbiecharley1 · 30/11/2023 18:10

did you all find out the sex at the 20 week scan? i was thinking about trying to do a Christmas day surprise.
a pink / blue christmas log or something?

Plumful · 30/11/2023 18:17

I actually didn’t do NCT first time around because it was lockdown, but I met lovely mums at groups so if money is tight don’t worry.

I had a surprise with my first which was absolutely amazing but will find out this time for practical reasons

Online Hypnobirthing Course- Positive Birth Company

Hypnobirthing is an evidence-based approach to birth that seeks to empower women and birthing people with knowledge, practical tools and support to enable you to have a positive birth experience.

GLC789 · 01/12/2023 20:29

Hi everyone! So lush to hear from you all about the flutters!

I have definitely been feeling them this week (18 weeks) and I know it's not wind because no fluffing afterwards 😂. It's so magical!

Had my covid jab today, was unsure on whether to get it but after seeing how ill my in laws were last week (video call) with covid, I decided to get myself sorted! The nurse did say, that most pregnant women will feel the side affects more than others. So I was wondering, anyone had it? Were you rough afterwards?

X

HopeAndChocolate · 02/12/2023 10:34

Aww how fab @GLC789! 😍 I can’t wait till they start kicking as I’m still like “Was that them…?” 😅

I had the covid jab and was totally fine - at most I had a dead arm and a headache the next day but that was it! Obviously everyone is different but fingers crossed you’d be fine too! x

GLC789 · 02/12/2023 17:39

@HopeAndChocolate aww thanks!

Today - splitting headache and a bit achy. Nothing major! Xx

Nynm23 · 06/12/2023 19:38

Hope everyone doing ok - 20 week scan on Friday. Thought I had felt movement the last few weeks but seems to have stopped. Feeling nervous!

Hoping what I thought was movement was just gas and I’m just too early to feel anything!

Irish34 · 06/12/2023 22:51

@Nynm23 I wouldn’t worry. Baby could have moved and now you can’t feel it as much. I didn’t feel my first until 21 weeks. Do you know if ur placenta is anterior or posterior?

HopeAndChocolate · 07/12/2023 07:37

Hope everything goes well on Friday @Nynm23 and like @Irish34 says, it can be so hit and miss at this time. I’m still not sure if what I’m feeling is baby or not. 😅
