Tentatively seeing if anyone else is due then yet?

I got a positive digital this morning and based on Ovulation I'd be due 30th April and 2nd May based on LMP, but until the dating scan that could easily change a week either way based on previous babies!

My baby girl arrived 19th April....Kaleesi Jett Austin, 2 weeks early weighing 8lb3oz..... not the hypnobirth I wanted after being induced I was in labour 2.5 days with no progression but contracting every 2-3 minutes so ended in c section. Still coming to terms with what it's done to my health but so grateful for my 4th girl ❤️

Does anyone else find the newborn stage hard or is it just me? I often wonder am I missing some material gene. Both my girls are very wanted etc but I do think during the new born phase on both now that I completely toppled my life and the routine I had. Its sunny today where I am and I am thinking if I didn't have a newborn I would be in the garden playing with my toddler and could have a few glasses of wine with my husband once she is in bed. However the reality is I can't do that as I don't know when my baby will sleep and I have mum guilt for my first because my attention is split!

Iamcatmum · 11/05/2024 00:58

@Irish34 yes I feel the same. Have been really struggling. The hormone shift, the sleep deprivation, breastfeeding exhaustion, and not being able to do any of my normal routine. I even miss doing some cleaning! Speaking to my friends now, it turns out they all say felt then same - just didn’t talk about it at the time

Irish34 · 11/05/2024 11:04

@Iamcatmum my friends all say the same. I think when your in it you feel you can't say it and when u get out of it you either forget or just think thank God that's over. I know on my first it eventually went away and we found a rhythm but right now that seems so far off. I think when ur in the trenches you can't see the end but it defo does end.

The hormone shift kills me. And the sleep! Well done you for breastfeeding. I am not. I just know its another struggling I wouldn't manage.

Iamcatmum · 21/05/2024 00:46

@Irish34 bit of both I imagine - definitely think people don’t like to admit they aren’t fully feeling the ‘newborn bliss’ that social media likes to portray!

Starting to feel a bit more human now! Still super draining with baby not sleeping more than 3-4 hours at night but the hormones seem to have levelled out a bit.

How is everyone doing?

HopeAndChocolate · 21/05/2024 09:12

@Iamcatmum I’m still waiting for baby to arrive (42+2)! I probably shouldn’t be allowed on this thread now we’re definitely not early May. 😅 Elective booked for tomorrow though which I weirdly feel
really ok with albeit nervous. The waiting around, especially so long after the ‘due date’ has been mentally draining.

Hope you’re all doing ok! ❤️

Irish34 · 21/05/2024 12:40

@Iamcatmum glad your hormones have levelled out. I am the same I have past the baby blues thank god. I can’t deal with them at all. I am also only getting 4 hours stretches at night and because my toddler is waking at 6 my last stretch is really only 2 hours. My newborn is very good so far. Content and will sleep in her cot. I just wish I could remember when I managed to get some sort of a feeding routine in on my 1st!

@HopeAndChocolateOh I imagine the last week or so has been uncomfortable. It’s hard when you get over the due date. Hope tomorrow goes well. So exciting
