Esp with your skin and cleaning chemicals! You’re my eczema pal aren’t you?

Bims2019 · 10/09/2023 13:31

@WitcheryDivine yep that's me! Skin actually isn't doing too bad lately, how's yours?

Thanks for the kind words, I do need to get better at putting my foot down. He's usually pretty good but think he does forget sometimes, I'm sitting down now while he does some last minute shopping. It doesn't help that we're terrible at keeping things tidy anyway!

@Mushroo glad you've had a lovely morning! Oh fab, will have a look at them thank you! 😊

@Bims2019 oh it's a nightmare at times!! Usually DH is very understanding and picks up my slack but the second we step outside the house to go shopping or anything he walks so fast and I'm now struggling to keep up then he seems to get huffy when I can't hear him talking to me because he's so far in front! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Honestly, men sometimes! Hope you managed to get some chill time before they arrive!

sashastuck · 10/09/2023 15:15

@FirstT1meMum I second this 😂 I’m so slow and he’s getting huffy! Another cause of my crying this morning! Today has been one of those days for sure, sounds like for a few of us

Hummusanddipdip · 10/09/2023 16:00

No experience beyond my cousins stepson having the surgery to correct his cleft lip, sending positive vibes and hopes for good news @Sunflowerfields23

I'd be furious @Mushroo hope your morning out was enjoyable.

Have you managed to get any cooler @PartRadish just drive down the A1 from Grantham and the heavens opened... I hate driving in huge downpours!

DH is still expecting me to think of meals for the week and write the shopping list, while he just comes with me and helps pack... and then I do all the cooking while he washes up, I'd quite like dish duty sometimes 🤣🤣🤣

On the breast pump @FirstT1meMum I've bought the one pictured below, it was an amazon purchase, because of my experience with breastfeeding/expressing with ds I've decided I'll give it ago, but I'm not putting pressure on myself and will express if I feel anyway that I did last time. It was recommended to me by a cousin and a good friend who gave had babies in the last year and said its been great for them when it came to expressing to feed.

I've also been given a groclock, anyone have any idea how they work?

@sashastuck I do think the heat has ramped up my hormones too this week. Definitely feeling more sensitive and irritable!

@Hummusanddipdip oh amazing thank you!! Will look into it x

Mummyme87 · 10/09/2023 16:53

@Hummusanddipdip we’ve had groclocks, didn’t change ours lives but helped. They aren’t any good until child is older, I would say 2yrs onwards and have an understanding

Hummusanddipdip · 10/09/2023 17:22

Oh thanks @Mummyme87 might have a look at the workings and introduce it to ds, although when he wakes up at the moment he just tends to come and get in bed with me and dh and go back to sleep until we get up

LittleAlien24 · 10/09/2023 17:25

Unfortunately i can't comment about how my OH would behave because he's been in another country all this time. When I've told him over the phone what im doing he does give out to me and tells me to stop. On the other hand I've my 16 year old daughter here who won't let me do anything 😁 she has been cooking and baking all this time (I've done only counted times), carries most of the shopping to and out of the car, unpacks the shopping etc older daughter said when she's pack in October she'll help so i wouldn't have to do anything and said that after my csection i have to stay in bed and relax 😁

Dannic2018 · 10/09/2023 18:46

So sorry @Sunflowerfields23 I’m sure all will be fine and you’ll feel so much better tomorrow.

Well my hubby decided to see what the fireplace would look like exposed and now I have a house full of black soot and dust and mess in every possible place. I’ve been trying to care for my mam who isn’t well and maintain some standard of normal living 🥴

@LittleAlien24 that is so lush of your daughter. My older two just don’t comprehend that I should not be doing some things and life is just like normal pretty much here

to be honest I’m one of them woman that just crack on and don’t stop doing things, I’m still lifting heavy ish things, up and down ladders and decorating etc. As long as I feel up to it I have to just do it because I can’t stand sitting knowing there’s stuff to do 🤣🤦‍♀️

weather finally has cooled slightly, had a thunder storm and heavens opened so hopefully a more comfortable night for us all

LittleAlien24 · 10/09/2023 19:02

@Dannic2018 oh don't even mention the dust and mess, i don't want to think about it. We have to get new electricity wires chiseled into the walls and house is big. then have to scrape all old plaster off the walls 😒 it's gonna be a nightmare.
Oh i like to do things as well but trying to take it easy because after all the problems, waiting for 10 years for this and many health problems with this pregnancy i just don't want anything to happen. Even tho i did drag my bed and cot upstairs and rearranged living room 😁

Mummyme87 · 10/09/2023 19:21

Yes also pretty normal here, although DH knows my pelvis is struggling so will help out where I ask. Otherwise, business as usual.

temperature started to drop here, 30seconds of spitting but no real rain. Bedrooms are pretty warm still so will continue to be fans all round

Kalodin · 10/09/2023 19:25

I'm similar to Dannic2018 too, in that I haven't changed much from what I was doing before, havent felt like ive needed to really. Although if I amd tired or nauseous then he is great at just accepting that I need a break.

@Sunflowerfields23 I do hope that you find positive answers and good support.

buckingmad · 10/09/2023 20:51

Yep DH couldn’t comprehend that I didn’t want to do anything today. A day out with a toddler in the heat, plus pregnant PLUS mastitis. WhT on Earth was I thinking turning that down 🙄

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/09/2023 08:53

@Dannic2018 @LittleAlien24 sympathise massively, we're in the middle of renovations also. Not living there currently but moving in in a week or two, when the place is mid done. It's so dusty and grim in parts still.

Are you using air filters and things? Have a 19 month old also and hoping to get it as safe as possible before we move in

Mushroo · 11/09/2023 09:38

My belly button is SO ITCHY today it’s driving me mad. I’ve put on so much cream.

Has anyone found anything decent for itchy skin?

Dannic2018 · 11/09/2023 09:46

@LittleAlien24 I think it’s lovely that your kids care like they do and if mine were like that I’d be loving life. Just enjoy and rest up 😌

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 we are lucky that we have another living room (play room/man cave) at the other side of the house so staying at this end with him and having all windows and patio doors open in the living room with the door closed. I can’t stand mess and dirt so it’s not doing much for my mental health 😩

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/09/2023 09:52

@Dannic2018 okay that makes me feel a bit better. We have one downstairs room fully done, new stairs in, and three bedrooms upstairs that are done. I've bought dust guards from Amazon with zips for the doors. And we have a nice bathroom.

But yep worried about the dust from the rest of the house. We have to walk through that to get to the kitchen (horrible but usable, with exposed dusty bricks and old plaster) and the utility to wash clothes etc. And the house smells of dust. Maybe I just use baby gates to stop toddler and dog getting that dust on their feet and tracking it onto the clean flooring and carpets in the dome bits

buckingmad · 11/09/2023 10:16

@Mushroo I suffer with eczema around my bikini line and the only thing that works is Weleda skin food. I don't know what it is in it but it's magical stuff. I use it on my face before bed and in the morn as a primer too and my skin has never been better.

Flossiepot · 11/09/2023 10:19

I spent all day shopping with my mum on Saturday to find out today she's got shingles. 😳
Does anyone know if I should report to anyone / if there's anything I should watch for? I've had chicken pox before but multiple times when I was younger so I'm not sure of the full risks but I am already imuno compromised due to the medicine I take for my Crohns 🙈 Sorry totally panicking now!

Thank you! I’ll get some ordered :)

@Flossiepot I had the exact same situation but my MIL. She asked her GP who said no need to worry as long as you’ve had chicken pox. I didn’t catch anything in the end but understand the concern. I think as long as you don’t have any symptoms it’s ok.

Flossiepot · 11/09/2023 10:31

Ahhh thanks @Mushroo that's reassuring.🤞🏼 I'll be the same then. ☺️

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/09/2023 10:36

I used the Welles's pregnancy oil, and it was amazing, I didn't get a stretch mark and it felt soothing. I've got it again this time but being very slapdash in applying it

Weleda!
