@buckingmad so sorry you’re struggling with this. Not what you need and especially in this heat!

I’ve struggled in the heat this week. My school has no aircon or fans (other than handheld ones) and I genuinely don’t think it should be legal to have our upstairs classrooms open. Fitbit said my heartrate was getting up to 136 just during a lesson! Absolutely delighted to be having a winter bub!

buckingmad · 09/09/2023 18:04

Thanks for the sympathy! I need it. Feeling very sorry for myself.

Had a headache and starting to feel a bit rubbish but don’t know if it’s coincidence and I’m catching a cold or if it’s linked.

I also forgot to tweeze out my nipple hair 🫠 can’t wait to poke the drs eye out with it.

FirstT1meMum · 09/09/2023 18:13

@kalodin I always drink plenty but might just need to make sure I drink a bit more before bed in this heat, will definitely give the tonic water a try tonight!

@buckingmad I really hope they sort you our soon, it sounds like you've really been struggling!

@sashastuck these classrooms are no joke this week! We're a really old building and like you have no fans or air con and come the afternoon when the sun has been beaming through all day the classroom is absolutely unbearable! I've never sweated so much teaching in my life!

Ttcdcno1 · 09/09/2023 18:47

Yeah my classroom has been a sweat box. It’s awful

buckingmad · 09/09/2023 18:54

Prescribed antibiotics. Dr thinks mastitis. Did not know that was possible when not even bloody breastfeeding!

Starting them tonight so hopefully they kick in super quick.

Mummyme87 · 09/09/2023 20:04

@buckingmad glad you’ve got some antibiotics. My friend got mastitis and had never been pregnant before!

just out of work. Unbearable. I’m very swollen, like 33degrees in the office in corridors. Non working air con in rooms. Had women in labour putting their feet in bowls of cold water. So grim. Be glad when this is over.

whoever asked about the antihistamine, you can take piriton in pregnancy

buckingmad · 09/09/2023 20:23

@Mummyme87 your poor friend! It’s really rubbish.

I feel for you, luckily the hospital I was in didn’t seem too hot but I imagine it was up on the wards. When we visited DH’s gran at Christmas I thought I was going to pass out from the heat.

I had an august baby last time, plus covid so masks. It was awful.

DesTeeny · 09/09/2023 20:27

Hi all! Can I join in and say hello? Expecting DD2 in January!

sashastuck · 09/09/2023 20:41

@Mummyme87 sounds absolutely awful in the heat!! Thank God we’re not giving birth in it but the fact you have to be there is enough 😂🥵

@DesTeeny welcome and congratulations!

Hummusanddipdip · 09/09/2023 20:59

Oh bless you @buckingmad hopefully the antibiotics clear it up quickly. Until last year I thought it was breastfeeding related but one the women I work with gets it and her youngest is 28 🤷‍♀️

The classrooms this week have been a joke, our building is relatively new (8 years) but we've no aircon or supplied fans. We had PE outside on Friday, was awful, did tag team with my class teacher 10 minutes with half class on field and other half in the shade.

I feel for you being on labour ward @Mummyme87, especially in this heat. Ds and I sat in his paddling pool with iced water in the garden this afternoon, even that didn't cool me.

I'm at a christening tomorrow and bought quite an autumnal dress in August... I can't wear it, I'll melt, so now I haven't a clue what to wear 😩

Welcome and congratulations @DesTeeny

PartRadish · 09/09/2023 21:07

@Kalodin I feel like this sometimes too. Two of our three are disabled, and the other has sen, and we're already spread so thin caring for them. I know we'll manage and it'll all work itself out because it always does but, yeah, I still have the odd wobble. Hope your youngest has a more settled night 🤞

RaspberryTime · 09/09/2023 21:33

Thanks all for the bite/antihistamine advice ☺️

Redpanda21 · 09/09/2023 22:25

@buckingmad I had mastitis in my first pregnancy. Fainted at the doctors. Not pleasant at all.

PartRadish · 10/09/2023 08:36

I've woken up (from the few hours of broken sleep I managed) in an absolutely pointless, yet all consuming, rage at the sun. I've had enough of this temperature now. It feels personal at this point 😂

I'm on modified bed rest until 28 weeks (if we can get there) but there is nothing restful about this heat. I'm not built for it. If the universe reads Mumsnet, I'm ready for autumn now please! 🙏

Mushroo · 10/09/2023 09:17

@PartRadish same. I can’t bear this heat!

Im fuming at DH. He went out last night ‘for a few’. Came home about 3am and has thrown up literally all over the en-suite. It’s absolutely disgusting and I spent the night on the sofa so I’m extra grumpy today.

It’s a one off (he’s never done this before) but I’m still so so mad. I’m going to the cinema at 10am, followed by taking myself to a nice lunch and just letting his stew. I need to get out the house before I murder him.

Sunflowerfields23 · 10/09/2023 09:46

Morning all! I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences or knows of anyone who's been in the same boat... I had my 20 week scan on Friday and they told us our little one has a cleft lip on the right side. They've referred me for a specialist scan on Monday where they will look to see the severity and look to hopefully rule out any associated syndromes / chromosomal abnormalities that can have cleft lip as a symptom.

Naturally I am freaking out and Google has scared me. I've got my head around a cleft lip and palate as know this will hopefully be fixable (and I know the first few months will be tougher because of this), but I'm so scared of it being linked to an associated syndromes. No idea what to expect from this scan on Monday - does anyone know anyone who's been through something similar?

Xxx

Bims2019 · 10/09/2023 10:29

@PartRadish I am exactly the same, had an awful night's sleep and just want this bloody heat to go away! Absolutely fuming at poor DH who was sleeping peacefully while I was awake at 3am. Thunderstorms expected today so fingers crossed it'll be cooler for us soon!

@Mushroo ohh no I would be raging at that too, hope you have a lovely morning out and that he's cleaned up everything by the time you get home!

@Sunflowerfields23 I don't know anyone with experience of this unfortunately, but sending you lots of hugs ahead of your scan on Monday. It's good that they're able to see you again so quickly and really hope they are able to rule out any abnormalities. Can you do something nice today to distract yourself? I'm the worst for googling but maybe try to step away if you can xxx

FirstT1meMum · 10/09/2023 10:54

@Mushroo hope you have a lovely time out and he thinks about what he's done and makes it up to you!

@Sunflowerfields23 no experience whatsoever but just wanted to send a virtual hand hold and sending lots of positive thoughts!

Just wondering if anyone has any recommended electric breast pumps? We're planning on going down the expressing route with breastfeeding over night and there's so many options for breast pumps I'm feeling rather overwhelmed 🙈

Mushroo · 10/09/2023 11:51

Thanks @PartRadish @FirstT1meMum. so infuriating! My day out is going nicely though!

On the breast pump front no personal recommendations but Katherine Ryan actually posted about a couple on her Instagram stories yesterday! Something about measuring your nipple size, might be worth a look.

LittleAlien24 · 10/09/2023 11:54

@PartRadish i don't think i know anymore what's a proper sleep. Haven't had it since i got pregnant.
@Mushroo enjoy your morning out and hopefully you'll feel better by the time you go back home. But knowing myself I'd be still fuming 😁
@Sunflowerfields23 no experience but hope you get good news and more answers on Monday

Mushroo · 10/09/2023 12:15

@LittleAlien24 oh yeh, I’m definitely still absolutely fuming, but at least I’ve had a nice day of it and don’t have to watch DH moping around!

sashastuck · 10/09/2023 12:19

@Mushroo I’d be fuming too! I’m in a similar boat that DP went somewhere he “thought closed at 10” and didn’t get in until 4am. Lol. Been pissy and crying all day, with this heat and a shit sleep I’m just over the edge 😂

@Sunflowerfields23 no personal experience but have a look at the ‘Two New Mums’ podcast - one of their little ones has a cleft lip and she shared the journey from her 20 week scan. You’ll have to go right back to earlier eps xx

Mushroo · 10/09/2023 12:36

@sashastuck glad it’s not just me! The heat is really not helping!

Bims2019 · 10/09/2023 12:59

My rage with DH has only escalated since this morning. His parents are visiting so we've been frantically tidying the house, does anyone else feel like their partner just expects you to carry on as normal even though you're 6 months pregnant?

I'm all for getting on with things and pregnancy isn't an illness etc, but I've had very little sleep and could just do without this today!

Sorry for the moan, it's the tiredness talking 😂

Aw @Bims2019 no that shouldn’t be happening. My H is incredible but I know a few others who need to be reminded frequently and forcibly that you’re NOT going to be doing the usually amount of stuff and quite frankly you’ll be sitting down now and he needs to finish off.
