@Hummusanddipdip you should be fine. I missed ones in my last pregnancy and all was fine x

Hummusanddipdip · 07/09/2023 21:46

Thanks @sashastuck, @Onedayatatime24 and @Redpanda21 common sense is saying it'll be fine like all of you have and the link is helpful to read. I'm crawling into bed now after falling asleep on the sofa for over an hour.

I'll start it again tomorrow and we'll be ok :) thank you all for the reassurance :)

LittleAlien24 · 07/09/2023 21:58

@Sambeaumont i had bad constipation with my 2 previous pregnancies. This time Im ok for so far but trying to eat and dri k things to help, like plums, orange juice, plum juice, lentils

@Hummusanddipdip i had to inject myself with blood thinner on my previous pregnancy and i forgot it quite few times, everything was still ok. Im doing it this time as well bht now I've a daughter who won't let me forget lol

I've no skin tags but getting weird patches on my skin, redish/brownish. Had the same with other pregnancies so at least i know it will pass 😁
Heat is killing me. We have had extremely hot summer and it doesn't seem to end. Had few cooler days and now back to 30+ had a walk yesterday for about half an hour and thought I'll pass out plus my belly keptgoing harder.

Lightningrain · 07/09/2023 22:32

@Hummusanddipdip I’m on aspirin too and I forgot a day recently. I’m sure you’ll be fine.

I wasn’t sure who I was supposed to request a repeat prescription from as it’s not on my repeat list on my online GP system. I got them from the hospital last time so wondered if I needed to contact them. I saw that you can buy the 75mg tablets in Morrisons off the shelf for a couple of pounds so picked some up to tide me over until my midwife appointment when I’ll try and get another prescription. Maybe worth picking up a pack so you have some spare.

Salamander91 · 07/09/2023 22:54

They sell 75mg aspirin in homebargains and b&m too for less than £1. I was also prescribed aspirin because I'm diabetic but I've never actually taken it in any of my pregnancies. I suffer with GERD now and it can make it worse but thankfully I've never had any blood pressure or pre eclampsia issues so I'm holding off taking it again this time.

Mummyme87 · 08/09/2023 00:52

@Hummusanddipdip you will be fine missing a few doses of aspirin. Don’t worry.

repeat prescriptions normally come from
GP, the hospital usually do a letter to give to the GP surgery so they will sort prescription out… easier said than done however.

just home from a work night party. No air con there, was ridiculously hot, and now my bedroom is like a sauna

lucya66 · 08/09/2023 07:08

I’m also getting skin tags! I get them a lot anyway, it’s in my genetics as my granny has them all over her neck and so do I. But I’ve been noticing more popping up on my neck and tops of my arms.

annoying but I’ve had them removed before and it’s painless.

Matildahoney · 08/09/2023 08:58

It's costs the NHS so much to prescribe aspirin and as others have said you can buy it for under £1. Missing occasional doses won't hurt, I'm on it, I've missed a few! My GP won't prescribe it despite the midwife team putting in multiple requests.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/09/2023 09:30

Yep I also missed doses and I bought mine in waitrose and Tesco. Little 75 mg pills

suz2285 · 08/09/2023 10:06

I'm also just buying over the counter, I did read an article once about aspirin use in pregnancy that seemed to suggest the benefit was there as long as you're taking 4 out of the 7 days.. so missing one every now and then shouldn't cause any issue

I've definitely missed a couple of doses as well when I was already in bed and remembered I'd forgotten to take it 😂

Mummyme87 · 08/09/2023 10:20

@Matildahoney yeah it’s so expensive for the nhs to do prescriptions, which is ridiculous when you can buy them so cheap. I would just get them from the shops. We have quite a few women on 150mg aspirin a day based on a risk assessment we do at 12weeks for risk of pre term preeclampsia, not sure what they do.

got my anomaly scan later this morning 😬😬

Gremlin84 · 08/09/2023 10:55

@Mummyme87 best of luck for scan! You've waited so patiently while the rest of us talked about gets ours!

Redpanda21 · 08/09/2023 10:55

I buy mine from the shops (Home Bargains or Asda). Costs NHS massively in comparison to fulfil the prescription.

Another one with skin tags, all over my neck. Mine didn’t disappear from my last pregnancy either.

In other news, I can no longer tolerate sugar in my tea! Used to have 2 and now nothing at all. Anyone else have this?

suz2285 · 08/09/2023 11:05

@Redpanda21 not sugar but just tea in general 😂 the whole first tri I couldn't have any hot drinks, now I have one every now and then. But I've gone from 4-5 cups a day to one every few days max! If husband makes me one in the morning I'll drink it but otherwise not that fussed!

I do think too much sugar gives me a sore head though! So I'm trying to eat slightly better 😂

Mummyme87 · 08/09/2023 11:29

@Redpanda21 I struggled with tea in first tri, okay now though

can’t drink Diet Coke in pregnancy though. Just isn’t right 😂 mainly water now, of which I can drink gallons

Redpanda21 · 08/09/2023 11:44

I’ve not really struggled with tea or sugar up until now and 2 days ago my taste buds said “nope, no-sir-ee, not anymore!”

Luhou · 08/09/2023 12:31

I went of tea in first trimester. Starting to enjoy it again now. Odd isn't it.

Kalodin · 08/09/2023 12:56

I'm finally enjoying coffee again, I have 1 a day made with half a shot at work (we have a lush coffee machine here which made me very sick at just the sight of it but glad I can make the rounds again now)

How is everyone finding the heat? Cannot believe we are having this weather now after the bloody 6 weeks holiday ended.

Has anyone here had a winter baby before? All mine were previously summer borns, wondering if there's anything extra I need to consider?

buckingmad · 08/09/2023 13:20

@Kalodin first winter baby here too! My main worry is keeping them warm enough during the night tbh. First child felt a bit more solid by the time I was putting her in thick sleeping bags.

Im keeping an eye out on vinted for one of the jojo maman coats that you can add a carrier bit into as baby will be being dragged out on dog walks and to sort the horse from day 1 just like my first was, but she at least had a gentle introduction to the hell that is horse ownership in winter 😂

Lilothblos · 08/09/2023 13:43

@buckingmad you might have already looked but Seraphine also do some lovely coats with an insert so you can zip it up with baby in a carrier too - I got one on vinted. Now is definitely the time to look I think whilst it’s hot so there’s less demand!

Salamander91 · 08/09/2023 14:31

My first was a Jan baby but he's 9 now so I can't remember a lot lol he was a 9lb baby so I'm pretty sure we used sleeping bags from the start. I think you're always going to worry with babies. With my spring babies I worried about them getting too hot.

Mummyme87 · 08/09/2023 14:46

My DS2 was a beast from the east baby. I put socks on him inside his baby grow, and wore him in my pregnancy coat. He was in sleeping bags from birth, being 10lb born there were no issues with his weight.

anomaly scan done. Baby all normal. I have a low lying placenta, 1cm from cervix which is a real pain, so have a rescan at 28weeks to see if it’s started moving. And we’re also having another boy!

sashastuck · 08/09/2023 14:59

@Mummyme87 congratulations on your baby boy! And healthy bub!

I’m also worried about keeping them warm enough. These coats you mention with an insert - is that because babies shouldn’t wear a normal coat in their carrycot or? I’ve got a couple of pram suits, would a coat go on top? Sorry if this sounds so clueless (I am😂)

OMG never mind, just realised what you all mean by carrier. Not carrycot. Duh 🥴😂

LittleAlien24 · 08/09/2023 15:02

@Kalodin my second was February baby and then we lived in a country where winter can be - 25 and more on bad winters 😁 our apartment had central heating so was really warm and she had just bodysuit, babygrow and blanket on night time. When we went out for a walk she had sheepskin in the buggy, she was in snowsuit and then blanket over or in light envelope type sleeping bag. And some days she even had her nap time outside in the buggy 😁

@Mummyme87 that's good baby is ok and congratulations on a boy. Hopefully your placenta will move

MrsJ6921 · 08/09/2023 15:22

@Kalodin i’m a first time mum and was in a proper panic about her being too cold at night as we have two sleeping bags but you can’t use them until they’re 8lbs 8oz which in our case is unlikely as we ourselves weren’t big babies. But I’ve stocked up on fleece sleepsuits from next which are lovely.
