Good morning! Just wondering if anyone has ever had impetigo when pregnant and not had an issue? I've suffered with it my whole life and I've woken up this morning and I've got all my telltale signs that I've got the start of impetigo on my lip (I've only been back at work 3 days!)
I googled it and really wish I hadn't as I'm now absolutely petrified.
I have cream prescribed by the doctor from last time just waiting for the pharmacy to open to see if I can use it. A morning of tears and it's not even 7 😔

Flossiepot · 07/09/2023 07:19

Yes, my stomach is feeling a lot tighter this week and belly button seems shallow which is weird.
I had a horrible comment from my manager yesterday saying to lay off the Stella's regarding my bump 😳 he was joking around in front of one of the guys in work but I was so upset when I got home and so worried about facing him today.
DH says I should flip it as a compliment as I'm mostly bump but it's made me so paranoid! 😢

Bims2019 · 07/09/2023 08:29

@FirstT1meMum I don't have any experience with impetigo but really hope you can use the cream and it helps. It's not the same but I have eczema and trying to keep it at bay without steroid creams has been a nightmare. Might it be worth speaking to your doctor as well if you're worried? Sending hugs and hope you're ok.

@Flossiepot the bump comments can be so inappropriate 🙄 people just don't seem to recognise the hurt they can cause! My bump feels a bit firmer and belly button is also more shallow.

My latest fun symptom is skin tags on my neck, has anyone else had more since they've been pregnant? I had one looked at by the Dr because it was getting bigger, he said just to keep an eye on it though so for now will just have to put up with them!

@suz2285 @RaspberryTime ok glad to hear it’s not just me then! I imagine it’s only going to stretch some more 🫠🫠

suz2285 · 07/09/2023 08:45

@Flossiepot men are so weird! Husband said yes when one of his work mates asked if he'd like a bunch of baby clothes and got a comment off another one about omg why would you take second hand clothes! 🙈 I want the clothes pls! Thank you 😂

@Bims2019 I rarely have eczema any more but since I've been pregnant I've got one stubborn bit on the back of my hand (random place) that won't go away! And yes to a few new skin tags!!

Well I'm still trying not to look obviously pregnant at work but I feel massive, my thighs and hips have def expanded and I tried on a dress for work this morning and boom I look heavily pregnant, so I've stuffed myself into my old work leggings and I really need to visit a shop!

Anyone else have like double size bump as soon as they eat? I feel like I've been on an all inclusive holiday for a month at this point! I knew I'd gain weight but it feels like a lot in a quick space of time yet people say I don't look any different. 😂😂

MrsJ6921 · 07/09/2023 09:16

@Bims2019 yes to the skin tags! Another delightful hormonal change

Flossiepot · 07/09/2023 09:18

@Bims2019 so glad you've mentioned this, I had one appear on the top of my leg which I've never had before. Didn't realise it could be down to the pregnancy

Gremlin84 · 07/09/2023 09:56

@suz2285 yes to variable bump size depending on eating/time of day. I always start the day off barely looking pregnant - just a bit podgy. As the day wears on and food is eaten (with presumably associated bloating) BOOM very preggers.

Yes exactly the same. I’m quite small in the morning, then as soon as I eat I really pop!

I found this really helpful to reassure myself that pretty much anything goes at this point size wise.

suz2285 · 07/09/2023 12:05

@Mushroo i def look at pics of others all the time, one girl i know on instagram is a lot bigger than me and is a few weeks behind me. I've just told someone else at work and she said she'd never have known and that i'm very "neat" but i feel like a whale! It just depends what you wear as well i think!

@Gremlin84 i've been struggling after dinner when my stomach is full its definitely more uncomfortable! probably a sign not to eat so much in one sitting tbh! But when I looked in the mirror this morning I didn't feel too bad, but by the time I got dressed for work I suddenly felt massive. The extra warmth does not help right now either, I like the heat normally but bring on the winter I say!

Kalodin · 07/09/2023 13:40

My bumps pretty much disappeared today!? Super weird. Even wearing a tight dress. Baby feels super low so wonder if baby is hiding nestled down which has reduced the bump?

HopeAndStrength · 07/09/2023 14:01

I've stopped trying to hide it at work now, but I think I still look a bit small for most people to comment (in case they get it wrong!) My team all know I'm pregnant now though.

lilluce95 · 07/09/2023 14:45

@Bims2019 glad you mentioned skin tags, I've had some appear on my arm randomly and didn't know that it was down to pregnancy either!

Mummyme87 · 07/09/2023 14:58

Yes to skin tags. Always get more in pregnancy, my DS2 twiddled one on my neck so much it fell off 😂😂

did an extra shift today as had some holiday. Jeepers, I was regretting my life choices at 8am. The heat was unbearable. I had a birth and was dripping with sweat, it was 29degrees in the room 🫠🥵 on my way home now to chill for a bit

This makes me SO thankful I’m not due now. Heat is my worst nightmare.

We’ve all done well with nice cold winter time!

TunnocksTCake · 07/09/2023 15:55

Asda has a baby event on - just got an email!

1992H · 07/09/2023 16:44

How’s everyone enduring the heat?

Im using my kids as an excuse to eat ice cream for tea at the outdoor pool at the gym 😂
I’ll regret my choices tomorrow morning when the invariable late night means getting up for school is painful, but any excuse for cool water and no cooking I’ll take tonight. Whilst enviously looking at other peoples beer/wine.

FirstT1meMum · 07/09/2023 17:32

@Bims2019 thank you ❤️ cream seems to be okay to use (it's the smallest amount used too). Just really stresses me out when I read the complications and the harm baby could potentially be in 😔 Tried to get hold of anyone today but absolutely no luck! Left a message for my midwife too and not heard anything, guessing they all only work until 12 on a Thursday! Will try and get a Dr's appointment tomorrow and hopefully try and not worry too much between now and then!!!

Bims2019 · 07/09/2023 17:32

@suz2285 @MrsJ6921 @Flossiepot @lilluce95 @Mummyme87 sorry to hear you've got the delightful skin tags as well, but it's nice to know I'm not alone 😊 I've been quite self conscious of mine as they're really visible, but getting used to them now. @Mummyme87 great work by your DS 😂

Ah thanks @TunnocksTCake, will have a look at Asda!

@1992H I've been managing ok with the heat until today as it's gone muggy with no nice breeze, like @Mushroo I'm so glad we're not due soon! The outdoor pool sounds like bliss, enjoy. I'm also very envious of anyone with a cold cider when it's like this!

@1992H Im going to an outdoor comedy event and could kill for a cold, Provence rose!

lilluce95 · 07/09/2023 17:50

@Bims2019 I've had a few skin tags before and they just like... fall off at some point? 😂 if they are really bothering you though I think cryotherapy can get rid of them!

Thank you @TunnocksTCake there's one at Sainsbury's that I saw today too ☺️

buckingmad · 07/09/2023 19:32

I walked 10km round london today and I am beat. On the train back to Yorkshire now and can’t wait to get into bed! And take off my bra.

Hummusanddipdip · 07/09/2023 19:41

I need a talk down as I'm a bit anxious and starting to work myself up and piss dh off (I've called him twice about it already but he can't come home yet)... I ordered my represcription of my asprin on Monday, but won't get to my chosen pharmacy until Saturday. I thought I'd be ok as I thought I had enough asprin, I realised last night I used the last of it, so I popped into tesco on my way home and asked the pharmacist if I could buy 75mg of asprin to tide me over, he refused to help me and said that if I acted quickly I could get to my chosen pharmacy before the closed tonight (there was half an hour and the drive is 20 minutes with no traffic, this was at 6pm) lo and behold I didn't get there until quarter to 7, so the pharmacy was shut.

This means I won't be able to take asprin tonight (I didn't consider the fact I could grab a packet off the shelf and cut it to get the right dosage until 5 minutes ago and I can't leave the house as ds is in bed and dh is out until 10, by then everywhere will be shut 🤦‍♀️)

Will I be ok missing one night?? Dh can pick my prescription up on his lunch break tomorrow.

Please reassure me that I'm not going to cause problems for one dose?

sashastuck · 07/09/2023 19:59

@Hummusanddipdip I wouldn’t be qualified or experienced enough to comment on this but my common sense thinks you’d be okay? As long as you get some tomorrow, I’m sure people miss one due to forgetting now and then? Hope you manage to relax tonight xx

I have a couple of mini skin tags on one nipple 🥴 so great to hear it’s normal!

Onedayatatime24 · 07/09/2023 20:08

@Hummusanddipdip I'm taking aspirin too for blood pressure and have definitely forgotten to take it on a handful of days so don't worry about it! Midwife says the odd day won't make a difference, just make sure you start taking it again as soon as you remember. And don't double dose, just take your next day like normal.

Some info here too which says don't worry about one missed day https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/low-dose-aspirin/how-and-when-to-take-low-dose-aspirin/
