@buckingmad is it mastitis? I had that in pregnancy once

@PartRadish good to hear your surgery went well. Everyone has their fingers for you x

lilluce95 · 05/09/2023 23:19

@PartRadish so pleased it went well! Hope recovery doesn't take too long for you ❤️

RaspberryTime · 06/09/2023 05:21

@PartRadish Really pleased to hear it went well. Continuing to send you and the little one all the positive vibes x

buckingmad · 06/09/2023 06:50

@Redpanda21 i dunno. It certainly feels like the beginning of it but mastitis for me has always gone from 0-100 very quick and I’ve felt awful. I don’t feel ill just in pain. But maybe it’s more low level blocked. If I had to hazard a guess I’d say I’ve started making colostrum and all my ducts are a tiny bit blocked. I feel lots of little lumps rather than the huge wedge I’d get with mastitis breastfeeding.

Mummyme87 · 06/09/2023 06:54

@PartRadish hope you’ve had some sleep overnight, glad the stitch is in and it went well.

suz2285 · 06/09/2023 09:07

@PartRadish great news! rest up and try to recover 🙂

WitcheryDivine · 06/09/2023 09:33

aargh I ate some uncooked goats cheese yesterday (ordered a dish where I thought it would be cooked and it wasn’t, had a few mouthfuls so maybe a thin slice or two). Now absolutely terrified about listeriosis. Reading online is only making it worse. How the hell can I be normal knowing I could have made the baby ill?

Mummyme87 · 06/09/2023 10:15

@WitcheryDivine the chance of getting listeria is minuscule. Pregnant Women eat the higher risk foods all the time, undercooked red meat, Brie, smoked salmon. In 15yrs I’ve come across two women with listeria, and one was traced back to a pre-made sandwich from M&S in the hospital. Don’t google it, it will be fine. I certainly have eaten rare steaks, smoked salmon sandwiches and Brie so far this pregnancy… not everyday but not deprived myself when it’s been available.

kids back to school today thank god! And so far nipped to the high street and bought a Christmas present for DS5… a cheap shop similar to tk max is closing down and has 20% off, I noticed they had stunt scooters for £16 the other day!! Bloody bargain, so got him one. Also bought some baby grows from Next 🥰🥰🥰 I’ve walked the dog, and shortly going to nip to Sainsbos to get some bits in. Then I’ve got until just after 3 to sit on the sofa and chill

WitcheryDivine · 06/09/2023 10:30

Thanks so much @Mummyme87 you don’t know how helpful that is ❤️

I’m seeing the consultant next week anyway so can ask her about it if no issues before then. I just feel like an idiot, and so guilty.

thank you x

@WitcheryDivine I honestly wouldn't worry if I had eaten that. It was probably pasteurised, but even if not, the risks are minuscule. Especially if it was a reputable place. Less that 200 people get listeriosis in the UK and Wales each year. My French colleagues eat the cheeses while pregnant, but avoid uncooked salad unless they washed it themselves. As more outbreaks have been linked to prepackaged salads.

I was worried last pregnancy when I ate out of date unpasteurised cheese (served by someone else to me) and the midwife said no need to worry unless I got symptoms, I didn't, all was okay, but I was panicking for a bit

suz2285 · 06/09/2023 13:04

@WitcheryDivine cant remember if you're in the uk but everything here is pasteurised, and is also in many other countries, so the likes of brie, feta, goats cheese etc in the UK is all absolutely fine. Also even if not the likelyhood of listeria is so small i don't know why they have to constantly make such a big deal out of things. Its the same as toxoplasmosis.... I have cats so it's always about not changing litter trays but actually if you have cats you've either been exposed already likely or its more likely to get it from food or from gardening (soil exposure!) I still feel bad if i change the cats litter tray though!

TunnocksTCake · 06/09/2023 14:49

@PartRadish so glad it went ok!

@WitcheryDivine I always tell myself I haven't caught listeriosis yet so what are the cb aces of getting it in pregnancy? And aren't the risks to you rather than the baby- ie it would make you sick more than anything else? Might have that wrong.

@Mummyme87 sounds a lovely day!

It's just hit me I have just over 3 months left at work and haven't bought a thing! Need to get cracking!

Mummyme87 · 06/09/2023 15:01

@TunnocksTCake I’ve just counted 13weeks left at work 😬😬 and out of that I’ve got three weeks annual leave also. And a lot to do!

suz2285 · 06/09/2023 15:07

@Mummyme87 @TunnocksTCake wow when you put it like that it's not a lot of time left... I've bought the car seat - and we'll get buggy etc nearer the time, and something to sleep in! Clothes i've bought some of, parents and my sis have bought some too! And i'll do nappies/wipes etc nearer the time too! I've got a wish list of other small items to grab hopefully just around Christmas!

I've got to set everything up at work for next year to run smoothly but i'm struggling big time with motivation!

Salamander91 · 06/09/2023 15:34

Is this heat killing anyone else?😅I complained all summer that it was raining and now I'm too hot and just a sweaty mess 🙈

Mushroo · 06/09/2023 15:36

@Salamander91 yup! Work productivity is none existent.

I went for a walk at lunch which was a terrible idea! A cool outdoor pool would be delightful.

I nearly ordered a load of jumpers the other day as I was convinced autumn had arrived.

Salamander91 · 06/09/2023 15:43

@Mushroo a pool sounds lovely. I think all the outdoor pools around here are only open july/august and no paddling pool. I hate to think what I look like to the other school mums atm. They all manage to look perfectly normal while I'm bright red, dripping and out of breath because I'm also anaemic 😂

Mushroo · 06/09/2023 15:59

@Salamander91 yup! I’m not a person who looks chic in the heat.

I burn, look sweaty and my hair becomes like Monica’s in Barbados in Friends!

Mummyme87 · 06/09/2023 15:59

@suz2285 keep an eye on supermarket baby events, nectar price/club card price etc, they often reduce nipple cream/nappy cream (bepanthen and metanium are particularly good). I actually picked up a pack of water wipes from Sainsbos today for £2 with nectar price down from £2.95… just to take to hospital, as I’ll be using reusable wipes but in hospital will just be easier initially.

@Salamander91 and yes it’s hotter than the sun. 31degrees is not fun to do the school run. I was looking forward to settling down for autumn!! Im on annual leave tomorrow as we have a work end of summer ball/party in the evening, but decided to do a 7.30-2 shift for some extra cash… I’m regretting that 🥵

this baby is such a wriggle pot!! I don’t remember either of my other two being that active 😬

Bims2019 · 06/09/2023 16:15

Talk of time left at work has scared me, just counted and think I've only got 15 weeks to go 😱 we seriously need to book a John Lewis appointment so we can get advice on some of the bug stuff but schedules are just a bit bonkers at the moment.

@PartRadish so pleased the stitch went well for you, rest up and hope you're being well looked after.

@Mushroo @Salamander91 I got myself all geared up for autumn too, have about 2 dresses that are still comfy so I'm wearing them to death 😂 Usually I love the heat but without a nice pool it's a struggle.

Am working from home today and baby was having a proper rave earlier while I was watching some training videos. Even saw some kicks from the outside which felt so wonderful and strange!

Thanks so much everyone xxx

Hummusanddipdip · 06/09/2023 16:27

So pleased it went to plan @PartRadish

I've been told today I'm fully waddling now 🤣 it's the heat!!! I'm struggling with dresses, all of them are knee length normally, bumps making some of them almost indecent to wear 🤦‍♀️ I didn't even think it'd gotten that big...

I can't believe some of us are in the teen week countdown already!!!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 06/09/2023 16:45

@Mummyme87 ah yay on the reusable wipes, I need to get mine back out. I'm excited to get my pretty print cloth nappies back out also! They look so cute on little ones.

Can't believe how close some of you are! Are people going off on mat leave early?

RG9895 · 06/09/2023 16:45

Those that are feeling movement, how regular is it? Constantly finding myself worrying! Ive only been feeling proper kicks and movements for about 3 weeks and I can go all morning and most of the day not feeling her and she only seems to wriggle at night but then some nights she doesn't move that much and constantly worrying!! I know patterns dont form until 24-28 weeks but just wanted to know what others are experiencing!

buckingmad · 06/09/2023 16:49

I've got 42 days left at work! But I only work 3 days a week. so 14 weeks left eek. My last day is the day of our christmas do which I think will be nice. I'll be 37.5 weeks.
