@Mummyme87 thank you! It's reassuring to know that it is common, they've been very frequent over the last few days. Have asked my midwife via my pregnancy notes so will see what she comes back with. I think worrying about them makes them worse 😂

MrsJ6921 · 04/09/2023 16:17

I’ve not had any comments about bump but I’ve had a few strange comments about baby’s gender as I’m having a girl ‘oh YOU'RE having a girl’. Comments were from those who are already parents and must obviously be envious that I’m having a girl, especially those with boys.

Kalodin · 04/09/2023 17:15

I've had comments both ways, some people have been like "You're too tiny" and "oh you've such a small bump" and "no way you're due in January!" But then also "oh you are it's not twins?" And "wow, you are really showing" and "they do say you are bigger with each pregnancy"

FirstT1meMum · 04/09/2023 18:41

Had my 20 week rescan rescan today and everything went well and we got a much better picture! I was initially worried as they'd mentioned kidneys at the first scan but couldn't measure them properly but the sonographer today was able to measure them really easily and I even worked up the courage to ask about it and she said I was below the threshold to be concerned. She did mention growth scans but think she was just checking I'd got one booked rather than anything concerning (that's what I'm telling myself anyway!)

We also picked up the snuzpod and for £50 I am absolutely over the moon as it's practically brand new 😍

Due January Part 2024 Part 6 🎉
suz2285 · 04/09/2023 19:02

Great news @FirstT1meMum 🥳 such a relief!

Think we're gonna go for the snuz pod too but i'll buy nearer the time as no storage space 😂

Mummyme87 · 04/09/2023 20:18

@FirstT1meMum good news about the scan. Such a relief.

I’m feeling very overwhelmed with life at the moment, and a hormonal mess. I’m hoping the kids going back to school on Wednesday will make the world of difference

lilluce95 · 04/09/2023 20:41

@FirstT1meMum what great news! ❤️❤️ glad it's all ok.

Never heard of a snuz pod... going to google haha 👀

EL27 · 04/09/2023 20:57

I've been having comments about bump had both ways, some people saying I look small, some say I look big. I definitely look bigger after a good meal.😂 I'm not to bothered about the comments now just embracing the bump life!

@MrsJ6921 I've had similar strange comments about baby's sex. A lot of people (mainly women/mums) have responded with a disappointed/sarcastic 'good luck' when I tell them we're having a boy.😳 On the other hand my other half gets praised for having a son! So strange isn't it.

FirstT1meMum · 04/09/2023 21:13

Thank you @suz2285 , @Mummyme87 @lilluce95

I hope you feel better soon @Mummyme87 this whole experience can become quite overwhelming. I hope you can have some you time on Wednesday x

Hummusanddipdip · 04/09/2023 21:19

I've had some "are you going to have any more?" (No) And "how do you feel its not a girl?" (Fine really) from a few people.

To be totally honest, I was initially a little sad on ds behalf because he so wanted a sister, but he's over it already, talking about teaching his brother how to wrestle with daddy and run really fast among a HUGE list of other things 🤣
I'd have loved to have a relationship with a daughter like I have with my mum. Nothing stopping me having that with my boys though.

Although one of my colleges today when I told her it was another boy cheered and said "welcome to the boy mum club" It was a nice change from the head tilts and the "oh are you ok with that"s but also, I'm already a boy mum 🤣

Mummyme87 · 04/09/2023 21:35

Having two boys already I get a lot of, ‘oh you’ll be wanting a girl this time’ type comments. I would love a girl, I think knowing this is it would give me closure as ideally I had wanted 4 children but that won’t happen now. However, you don’t have babies for a specific sex, I’m having another because I want another. People can’t seem to get that. It’s a daily conversation I have.

buckingmad · 04/09/2023 21:48

Boob is still so sore. I’m convinced it’s linked to milk production kicking in. Boobs are swollen and then one in particular has a rash, painful lump and a burning stabbing pain. Was given a cream but it’s not really done anything yet and I’m 3 days in to using it. Going to phone dr again tomorrow. Making me miserable tho as it’s really very sore.

Bims2019 · 04/09/2023 21:53

Glad your scan went well @FirstT1meMum!

@Mummyme87 sorry you're feeling overwhelmed, I think we've all been there at points over the past few weeks. Hope you feel better soon, and Wednesday isn't far away!

Our mini holiday was really nice but exhausting, we were there for a wedding and don't think I was prepared for the combination of travel, different routine, a wedding while pregnant/sober and not much sleep 😂 spent today recovering before starting a new job tomorrow, does anyone else feel like time is just racing away from them at the moment?

Also on the topic of work clothes, just went to try on a summery maternity dress that I only wore once last weekend and it fitted me fine... But now it feels too small! Really didn't want to buy any more summer things but I might have to in order to get through the next couple of weeks! I'm 23 weeks tomorrow and just feel massive now, like some of you a bit worried that I've still got so long to go...

RaspberryTime · 05/09/2023 06:12

Similar situation with clothes @Bims2019 - the bits I’d bought for getting bigger are all more autumnal and now a late summer has kicked in I have nothing to wear that’s work appropriate. Really don’t want to buy anything summery now…the warm weather will be over before it actually arrives!

Kalodin · 05/09/2023 06:25

I've found sainburies do some brilliant floaty dresses and aren't maternity. I'm fitting well in those and I'll be using them for breastfeeding too as they are button down and even beyond that, I'll keep wearing them as they looked lush pre pregnancy too

So maybe try there and you can justify it because you'll use them next year too.

Mummyme87 · 05/09/2023 06:57

I’ve had to buy some maternity vest tops from Vinted as going to Rhodes in 4 weeks and don’t have enough holiday clothes. I really don’t want to have to buy maternity summer clothes now. I need a maternity swimming costume though as mine is stretched to the limit

anyone still struggling with sickness? I don’t get it everyday but most days. So rubbish

suz2285 · 05/09/2023 10:22

@Mummyme87 i have had a few random days of bad headaches and feeling sicky since i've been 20 weeks, assuming maybe another surge of hormones! Feels like baby is growing!

Comments from people are so weird, people expecting that husband wanted a boy (he'd prob prefer a girl!) also comments about boys being hard or being more loving/cuddly! My admin manager when i told her i was pregnant was like "omg i didn't know you were trying!" like i'd just go about at work discussing our TTC!

So i'm still hiding my bump at work, hardly anyone knows, but if i'm at home wearing tight clothes its clearly obvious now! Esp in the evening! Also I feel like a turtle and def not as agile now... Can't believe i've still got half of this pregnancy to go!

Also struggling with what to wear, don't want to buy any further summer stuff either, but also no idea what i'm going to wear at work in a few weeks, I've got dresses and i'm just hoping they will fit, but I dont wear dresses at home, so it's stretchy leggings for me - that's why I was excited about Autumn before this heatwave happened!

Luhou · 05/09/2023 12:31

My favourite bits are from Asda. Got a few dresses that could be worn now and then with tights later on in the year.

Had my 20 week scan this morning. All fine, I was quite nervous. Head measurement seems on a lower percentile compared to others, but been told it's still within normal range.

PartRadish · 05/09/2023 13:08

Just come for our fortnightly cervical length scan. Not good news unfortunately. My cervix has shortened to 13mm (should be around 40mm at this stage) and is opening from the inside (funnelling).

I'm being admitted and looking at going to theatre tonight for an emergency cervical stitch. Consultant is hopeful of getting us to 26 weeks+ but obviously also had to explain the risks and that we might lose her. I'm 21 weeks today so 3 weeks until viability. I'm terrified and just gutted tbh, I think I'd really convinced myself everything would be okay 😔

Onedayatatime24 · 05/09/2023 13:35

Sending hugs and all the luck @PartRadish so sorry to hear that!

Onedayatatime24 · 05/09/2023 13:38

I've had some weird comments on having a boy too! Mostly that boys are easier than girls 🤷‍♀️ and that do I wish I was having a girl (I actually wanted a boy but wasn't bothered!).

We're in Italy on our last holiday before baby and I'm trying to enjoy it but I'm hot, tired, hips are aching and I am terrified of eating something wrong! Already googling listeria symptoms like a mad woman and I've only eaten a croissant and a pizza so far 🤦‍♀️

Hormones also hitting me hard this week for some reason (21 weeks), woke up the other night and couldn't get back to sleep and ended up sobbing for 2 hours straight and I am not a cryer at all!

Flossiepot · 05/09/2023 13:39

Sending hugs @PartRadish - gosh can't imagine what you're going through xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/09/2023 13:46

@PartRadish I'm so sorry you're going through this. Good luck for the surgery tonight

lilluce95 · 05/09/2023 13:47

@PartRadish so sorry to hear that, sending lots of love and positive thoughts your way! Xx

suz2285 · 05/09/2023 13:50

@PartRadish really sorry to hear that, what a worry! hopefully the stitch will help, someone i know has had one recently after cervix issues and seems to be doing well.

@Onedayatatime24 just enjoy your holiday, most of the food will be totally fine, and remember we never worried about or ever got listeria before! Well i certainly haven't had it!

@Luhou glad your scan went well 😃
