@Bims2019 I was induced at 39 plus 3 with DD. If I have to be induced again I will be opting for an elective C.

Pessary was painful to insert and did nothing for me.

Waited days on drip to then have my waters broken

Contractions have no gradual build up so they seemed to come about very fast. Dd's heart rate also dropped when they broke my water so que emergency button!

I then did dilate reasonably quickly and an epidural kept pain at bay.

After pushing for an hour, they realised DD's head was in the wrong position. I won't ever know but wonder if this was due to being forced suddenly down birth canal after waters broken.

They did a manual turn, baby was struggling at this point was a minuite away from emergency C, they then used forceps without an episiotomy due to the need to get the baby out. Lots of pediatric doctors in room etc but fortunately baby came out screaming.

Lost a lot of blood and then fainted in the shower 🙈

Sorry if that's scared you, sure a lot of people will be along with some positive induction stories.

Gorgeous scan pictures @JaffaCake123 , another boy too!

What is amour tally now on Boy vs Girl vs Not finding out?

We had Google Doc spreadsheets to keep travk of this stuff in the threads I was previously on.

Oh my @1992H glad they got there in the end!

My cervical scan went well today, was actually a pretty funny scan. DR had another student in again (I actually don't mind students, I've always had a really positive experience with them). Anyway, DR inserts the scan wand and there's no baby. I know baby is in there as I can feel baby wriggling about but DR couldn't find baby using the wand. She said "well we know Kalodin is definitely pregnant as we saw at last scan, plus she is saying she can feel baby". I then said "baby is hiding up here" and pointed to where I could feel baby. Sure enough, an abdominal scan found baby in that location right away, hugging the top of my uterus. Just shows you how much room there is in our uterus at this gestation.

So those of you who can't feel baby moving yet, it's because they're hiding away in some other corner.

Anyway, cervical length has shortened again BUT Dr reassured me that 3.8cm is still well within the normal range and some shortening is expected.

You'll get positive and negatives from both sides @Bims2019 - TBH I think best thing for you to do, is to read up around both, what the stats are for both scenarios, how you can make each the best possible birth, and then see which one feels more comfortable for you. Oxytocin plays a huge part in birth (and yes in csections too) so you be best on thinking what route can you best support that, where will you have less fears. What fears do you have to work on.

I've started working up my birth plans. I've mostly done my VBA2C and ERCS plans but struggling with the EMCS

buckingmad · 30/08/2023 20:30

Is there such a thing as too much movement? DD was very active too but my god this one hasn’t stopped all day. It feels like she’s doing a drumroll it’s so fast

PartRadish · 30/08/2023 21:13

Thank you @Mummyme87 @Mushroo @Bims2019 I did give triage a call and got a totally different response than I'd had from the community midwives. They said immediately they wanted to give Anti-D and would order it ready and to just go up whenever I was ready. Was fully checked over, they had a listen in and a good feel of my tummy, took some bloods and gave me the anti-d. Felt really well looked after and reassured. So glad I asked here and rang now 🙂

@Kalodin mine was 3.8 at 18 weeks too! What a bizarre thing to want to offer a high five for 😂

Matildahoney · 30/08/2023 21:27

Oh wow @Kalodin mine is 3.5cm at 22 weeks, she said the next one is likely to be my last with them! She did also say her cut off point was 25 so I have nothing to worry about!

FirstT1meMum · 30/08/2023 21:38

@PartRadish glad they got you sorted and reassured you, they sound lovely!

Wondering if anyone else has had a similar sensation? Not too long ago I was sitting on the sofa like crossed legged and not sure if she was moving around or not (sometimes it's obvious sometimes not) but I had a strange sensation like down below like a thudding. It literally felt like she was kicking me down there internally...🫣 Lasted about 10 seconds. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something to worry about? Not even sure if it even was baby or just the way I was sitting 🙈

Kalodin · 30/08/2023 21:56

Glad they reassured you and all is okay @PartRadish (And high five for the matching lengths 😂 )

Yeah I think generally speaking they do end the cervical scans at around 24 weeks don't they anyway @Matildahoney , and great that yours is at 3.5cm at 22 weeks, that's a good length for that gestation from my understanding talking to the Dr.

I think that you may be referring to "lightening crotch" @FirstT1meMum - a sort of sudden feeling like you've been kicked in the cervix from the inside. Least that's how I describe it. Or like short and sudden downwards pressure? I was surprised to be having it so early, so asked DR today and she reassured me it's all within normal. However, I do always beleive in asking your MW of you are unsure

FirstT1meMum · 30/08/2023 22:10

@Kalodin yes it does feel like that! I never really knew what lightning crotch was, naively I thought it was more a stabbing or burning sensation! It was over so quickly!

Dannic2018 · 30/08/2023 23:21

@FirstT1meMum for me little jabs from the inside I think is the baby kicking/punching my bladder or cervix is how I take it as it’s not painful just more of a internal kick of your bits. I get it more off her when I need a wee so always assumed it was her kicking my bladder area 🤷‍♀️🤣

Matildahoney · 30/08/2023 23:25

@Kalodin I'm not sure, it's my first so I've no idea what's normal/what to expect!
@Dannic2018 @FirstT1meMum I also get it when I need a wee!

buckingmad · 31/08/2023 06:37

I got lightning crotch yesterday. Definitely earlier than with my first 🙄

I’ve also got a bumpy itchy rash under one boob 🙄 I really need to get some bigger bras.

Mummyme87 · 31/08/2023 06:39

I got lightening crotch in my bum on Monday when I was walking. Random joys of pregnancy.

FirstT1meMum · 31/08/2023 07:00

@Dannic2018 @Matildahoney thank you! Never experienced it before so nice to know it's nothing unusual. Yeah no pain or anything just strange sensation 🤣

sashastuck · 31/08/2023 08:26

@Mummyme87 I also got it in my bum the other day 😂

Mummyme87 · 31/08/2023 08:58

waiting for my bum scan. Whhhyyy 😖😖😖 it should be quick though, not sure if they will be able to give me any information or findings initially. Perineal midwife appt not until 32wks which is forever away but need to know well before then

Inmydreams88 · 31/08/2023 09:15

I’m 22+1 and baby is moving loads now. I can physically see my stomach moving from the outside too! My husband saw it for the first time last night. Anyone else?

Bims2019 · 31/08/2023 09:45

@Inmydreams88 DH has felt baby from the outside but not seen it yet! I'm getting lots of movement too now at 22+2, it's so nice to feel them.

Think I've had a bit of lightning crotch, the itchy nipples were back for me last night though with a vengeance! And my skin is so dry, it usually is anyway but I'm noticing it loads more at the moment.

Thanks so much for everyone's thoughts on inductions and caesarians, I will definitely look at all the stats and information then decide what I'm most comfortable with.

We're off for a long weekend away today, flying for the first (and probably last) time while pregnant. Have some very sexy compression socks on and feeling very glam! 😂

OP posts:
Mushroo · 31/08/2023 09:51

@Bims2019 enjoy your holiday! The compression socks are awful aren’t they. I went on a group holiday in July and everyone was laughing at them 😂

Also feeling more movement today (finally!). I actually felt her stretch this morning as I had pokes on the left and right hand side.

DH still keeps missing her, so that’s the mission this week! She seems to stop everytime he puts his hand on my stomach!

Onedayatatime24 · 31/08/2023 09:54

I think I might be feeling more movement in the last week or so (20+4 today). It's not like flutters though, it feels like pulses/when your heart skips a beat but in my pelvis! I can't tell yet if it's a kick/punch, just feels kinda weird like something is bubbling in there. Generally seems to happen around the same time of day too. Could this be baby or am I cooing over gas again? 😂

RG9895 · 31/08/2023 09:59

Im 21+2 and been feeling proper movement for 2 weeks but still can't see or feel it from the outside but I do have an anterior placenta so maybe be a few more weeks! Can't wait for my husband to be able to feel her 🥹

buckingmad · 31/08/2023 10:32

I’ve just had a big shock (very unexpected family death) and had a panic attack/went into shock I dunno at work. Baby will be ok right? She’s been moving but I feel a bit sore and odd. I imagine from the shock.

FirstT1meMum · 31/08/2023 11:18

@Bims2019 have a lovely holiday! The compression socks are just the best..the looks I got putting them on in the airport! 🙈🤣 The itchy nips are back with a vengeance here too! Also noticing my skin on my tummy is getting a bit dry, I suffer with eczema to start with so who knows!
I'm feeling more movement too and am convinced if DH was awake the other night he would've felt her kick! He was gutted she didn't do it again last night!

@buckingmad I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure baby will be fine but if you are worried about the pains could you give your assessment unit a ring just for some reassurance? Again, so sorry 💐

sashastuck · 31/08/2023 12:48

@buckingmad really sorry for your loss, I imagine finding out at work makes it even more hard to deal with. Maybe give MW/assessment a call just for peace of mind? Sure baby is okay though ❤️

@Bims2019 enjoy your holiday! I’ve got dry skin too, I’ve got a patch on one leg and one wrist that literally flakes off like dandruff, ew.

I’ve been feeling stronger movements for almost 2 weeks now (22 weeks today), can see/feel them on the outside. It’s lovely but also nerve wracking because I know they say not to bother monitoring movements until at least 24+ weeks, but I am picking up on patterns now! @Onedayatatime24 I have the same feeling, no flutters, it’s always like a big pulse feeling!

LittleAlien24 · 31/08/2023 12:53

@buckingmad sorry for your loss.
@Bims2019 enjoy your holiday

Im 20+5 but still no regular kicks or movements 😏

Kalodin · 31/08/2023 13:05

I am so sorry @buckingmad . Do take it easy, give your MW unit a call, I'm sure they'll see you just to check for peace of mind

Hope all goes well @Mummyme87
