Hi all, I couldn't see a new thread and the last one looks full so starting part 6. Hope that's ok! Have tagged as many people as I could, really sorry if I forget anyone.

This must be another a thing that has turned on its head since I had my others years ago because Baby Bjorns were known as 'crotch danglers' back then and not recommend by sling libraries etc. And facing a baby outwards in a sling was almost considered a crime 😆

Wrap slings/ring slings or soft structured carriers like Tula or Ergobaby were the in thing then. I have a cheapy stretchy wrap for the newborn days and a Lenny Lamb ring sling packed away somewhere so hopefully I can dig those out. I did have a Tula but sold it when we were done but I might look at getting another because it was so, so comfortable and DH always preferred using buckles over the wrap/ring sling.

Mummyme87 · 27/08/2023 10:31

@PartRadish they still are crotch danglers, unless you get the new one which is more hip friendly. I was looking at a Tula also

Salamander91 · 27/08/2023 10:31

I've had so many slings over the years lol but I always favoured my connecta (think they're called integra now). They're nice and lightweight and I get hot so easily so they're perfect for me. I never liked the big bulky waistbands of some of the other brands like Tula.

Hummusanddipdip · 27/08/2023 10:50

I couldn't get on with any sling with ds, I had several from various family members but none of them felt comfy, dh on the other hand really liked the tula, my cousin currently has ot for her dd, but it may make its way back here for him.
I didnt feel confident in the wrap round one, always thought ds would fall out 🤦‍♀️ however a couple of friends have one with a structured back and seat support and they seem quite good, no idea on brand or anything to do research though... I should ask.

sashastuck · 27/08/2023 11:16

@Mummyme87 thanks, will defo visit there! This is a silly question but… do you go and try them all on whilst you’re still pregnant? Or once baby arrives? 😂

Lots of you said Tula - going to look into that now. I also get hot really easily @Salamander91 so the one you mentioned sounds good too. I had completely forgot about needing one of these lol

Mummyme87 · 27/08/2023 11:35

@sashastuck you can do pre baby and they will advise. They are really good up there. Think you can book appts if you want or just walk in. They also sell some cute clothes and other bits. It’s between Tooting Broadway and Tooting Bec station

Lightningrain · 27/08/2023 13:46

We went to order our travel system today and the soonest delivery was mid-December! Hopefully the baby won’t come early.

We’ve also ordered a Snuzpod and nursery furniture which had a 2 month delivery time. I’m sure we’d have still got something suitable if we left it later but I’m glad it’s sorted as it’s one less thing to think about.

I think I might have felt my first flutters of today at 21+3. I’m really looking forward to being able to feel definite movement.

FirstT1meMum · 27/08/2023 14:11

It's so exciting hearing all about everyone ordering things! We went with the oyster 3 travel set and a tutti bambini modena furniture set in grey. We could choose when we wanted it delivered (this was a couple of weeks ago) so we went for October for the furniture and December for the travel system (I'd heard something about not having a pram in the house?!). Can't wait for the carpet to go in the nursery on Tuesday now it's all painted and then the furniture to arrive! 😍😍

The next thing we need to look at is a moses basket and a next to me cot, looking into all options but there's so many!

MrsJ6921 · 27/08/2023 14:35

@FirstT1meMum Pram twins! What colour did you opt for?

FirstT1meMum · 27/08/2023 14:39

@MrsJ6921 I absolutely adore it! We went for moon, what about you? 😊

lucya66 · 27/08/2023 15:25

@Bims2019 what do you think to the bbhugme pregnancy pillow? I have got it too but have not really been enjoying it. I can’t get comfy with it. It’s a shame as there was a lot of hype around it.

maybe it’ll be better for me when I’m further along.

MrsJ6921 · 27/08/2023 15:26

@FirstT1meMum such a lovely pram isn’t it! We’ve went for Butterscotch.

I think it’s an old wives tale that it’s bad luck to have your pram in the house before baby is here. My nana has religiously told me this! 🤣

FirstT1meMum · 27/08/2023 15:34

@MrsJ6921 it just seemed so much easier than the others I tried too. Ooh a gorgeous colour! We debated that one too!

I knew I'd heard something 🤣 Already told my dad it may need to be stored there 🙈🤣

Mummyme87 · 27/08/2023 22:41

Forgot to update on my painful jaw sitch i mentioned last week. Saw dentist on Friday and he’s referred me to kings college as they have a clinic there that specialises in it. Need an X-ray to have a look at what’s going on. Will see when that happens.

also think the heartburn is starting. Just have that burning sensation at the back of my throat, but further down .

Bims2019 · 27/08/2023 22:42

@lucya66 like you I'm not sure if I'm far enough along yet to feel the full benefits. Have napped with it a couple of times and found it ok, and it's lovely for sitting up in bed! At the moment it's a very expensive cushion 😂 But maybe we'll appreciate it more when we're a bit bigger and need more support. Are you usually a side sleeper?

OP posts:
Mushroo · 27/08/2023 23:17

@Bims2019 @lucya66 i have it too and the first week I just thought it was ok.

However I’ve grown to really like it, it’s so supportive when I’m on the sofa. I then make it a bit more ‘floppy’ for bed and I find that works better for going between my legs. (I ordered it in pink and My DH keeps calling it a giant penis….after reading that sentence maybe he has a point 😂).

My only problem with it is that I change sides quite a lot as I sleep so I seem to lose it in the night.

Touchwood though I have zero aches or pains so maybe it’s doing something right!

Hello, I wondered if I could join here also. I'm due in Feb, but midwife has said I'm likely to be induced early again, and so I'll likely be in third week of Jan.

Things have been okay symptom wise the last couple of weeks, just tired! But I lost a bit of my mucus plug last night I think. No spotting, just a hard jelly piece. With the bank holiday it's hard to get through to triage or midwife. Have any of you had that?

Mummyme87 · 28/08/2023 07:47

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 welcome! I haven’t had that but as a midwife I know it’s not abnormal as long as it doesn’t have fresh blood in it.

Kalodin · 28/08/2023 08:13

Hey @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Yes, with all my pregnancies I find I lose bits from quite early. Only when it's blood streaked and a rather large lump has it then been followed by labour. It does grow back too. For peace of mind, give your MW a call tomorrow.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 28/08/2023 08:17

@Mummyme87 and @Kalodin thank you so much. @Mummyme87 I recognise your name from another thread, hello 👋

Kalodin · 28/08/2023 08:18

Good luck with the xday and jaw @Mummyme87

Hopefully baby doesn't come early @Lightningrain - what gestation will you be when it gets delivered? So lovely to feel the movements isn't it!

Family BBQ today, we are hosting! Spent until quite late tidying and cleaning - house still feels a complete mess though because we are in middle of renovating. And a bit upset that 4 of my sisters won't be coming, 2 having let me down only yesterday.

Mummyme87 · 28/08/2023 08:21

Yes @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I recognised your name also from the TTC boards! I was there for a year and a half 😬

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 28/08/2023 08:24

@Mummyme87 I remember! Was thrilled for you when you got your positive test. Good luck for your x ray today and jaw stitch. Hope it all goes smoothly.

@Kalodin have a lovely time. So sorry your sisters have let you down. People have been flakier since Covid I think. How many sisters do you have though if 4 are not coming??

Kalodin · 28/08/2023 08:42

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 7 🫣 (my parents split when I was younger). Tbf, it does mean less prep as 3 of the 4 not coming have kids too now!
