@Hummusanddipdip this is our first baby but we’re planning to do the same and use the carrycot part of the travel system when we’re downstairs and have a Snuzpod next to our bed for nighttime.

We have a dog and I’ve been looking at what I can use to have baby higher up so that we can put them down briefly while we eat/cook etc. I’m thinking about one of the high chairs with the lie flat newborn attachment on top. Has anyone had one before? I know the Stokke Tripp Trapp has the option and I am tempted as I know they last well into childhood but they’re not cheap and any accessory seems to be an extra cost.

Mushroo · 25/08/2023 19:58

@Lightningrain I also would like a lie-flat high chair but don’t want to pay a million pounds.

Hopefully someone can recommend something :) I might go look at some in person as I find some high chairs really cheap looking and ugly (I realise that’s very superficial!)

sashastuck · 25/08/2023 20:02

I’ve also had a cry today! Got my new car, but I hate driving really, so every time DP gave me a ‘tip’ whilst I was driving back from the dealership (took 6 hours…) I had to hold back the tears. Collapsed in a heap on the bed and had a good cry just now 😢

Those trousers look good @Mushroo thanks for the link although I know it wasn’t for me! I’ve also bought some dresses for back to work, way more comfy

We are also going to get the tuttibambini!

Glad your scan went well @TunnocksTCake x

Luhou · 25/08/2023 21:14

Joining you with a cry. Full on day at work, followed by some work on the laptop this evening once DD was in bed, dropped my laptop on the floor. Think it's completely fucked. Now in the bath crying. I've also managed to really bruise my leg which is concerning me. I know it's nothing but just feel like my anxiety about everything is ridiculous. Everything miniscule seems like a life changing issue. Gives me some comfort to know I'm not the only one struggling with emotions. Hoping we can all get a good nights sleep and a fresh start tomorrow.

Luhou · 25/08/2023 21:22

We had this highchair which lays reasonably flat.

Mushroo · 25/08/2023 22:09

@Luhou hope you’re feeling better, that sounds like a really crappy day. An early night will fix it hopefully.

That high chair looks perfect, thank you!

Luhou · 25/08/2023 23:01

@Mushroo thank you. I am finding being able to come on here and vent a real support.

Pleased to help find a highchair. Xx

Onedayatatime24 · 26/08/2023 07:59

I liked the look of this highchair, not super cheap but looks like it has a load of uses!

Bims2019 · 26/08/2023 09:04

@Luhou sorry you had such a rubbish day, hope you're feeling a bit better today. I totally get what you mean about anxiety, everything causes such a worry at the moment and I'm sure I end up overthinking everything. It really does help to have this thread though.

All this talk of buying things for baby is making me nervous that we haven't got anything yet! We are hopefully borrowing a Chicco Next2Me crib from friends once their little one isn't using it any more, so just need to get a new mattress for that. No idea about prams, I'm trying to persuade DH to book a John Lewis appointment soon but he thinks we can wait 🙄

@Lightningrain I really wanted the Stokke trip trap too and took to stalking Facebook market place etc. I got one from a neighbour with a cushion and baby harness for £25! The base/main unit is made of wood and there are so many available second hand there is absolutely no reason at all if you want this to pay the full price, or actually, even buy an alternate.

Good luck!

Lightningrain · 26/08/2023 09:16

@Luhou @Onedayatatime24 thanks for the high chair links. They both look like they’d be perfect for what I need.

I read some reviews of high chairs and people’s main bugbear seems to be crevices for food getting stuck making them hard to clean (and non-dishwasher safe trays). I’m now looking at every chair thinking about how practical it is in terms of cleaning!

This is the main thing! I bought a cheaper highchair prior to that Silvercross one and took to wrapping the straps in cling film before each meal. Otherwise they just got gross!!

Dannic2018 · 26/08/2023 10:46

Morning all hope you’re all good. Well I’ve had no sleep last 2 nights, first night I was awake hours worrying I hadn’t felt the baby move then yesterday she was a lot more obvious then last night my dd went on her first night out to Newcastle! The worrying never ends!
I’m going to get a pushchair off marketplace, I was going to keep the M&P one we had but convinced myself I want something different, so looking for silver cross pioneer, bugaboo or god knows 🤣. We have a Moses basket for the living room and I’ll use the carrycot as well and I’ve got a chicco next to me off ds but I do co sleep as well. High chair I’ve got a ikea one from ds with the seat insert and honestly in terms of cleaning it’s the best

MrsJ6921 · 26/08/2023 13:18

We actually ordered our pram this morning. I’m not sure if it’s the same for every brand but we got ours from an independent baby shop and she said ideally we would’ve only had until mid-end September to order as most brands don’t deliver in December and being due early January that’s a risk I didn’t want to take. So we’re down for a November delivery. We’ve went for the Oyster 3 luxe package in Butterscotch and the Maxi Cosi pebble car seat. So exciting!

Booklover88 · 26/08/2023 13:32

@Bims2019 I’ve not got very much yet either! We have got a pram for £60 from Facebook marketplace 😂still plenty of time to go!

Mushroo · 26/08/2023 20:17

We went baby shopping today and think we’ve settled on a few on the big items.

We’re going for the Bugaboo Dragonfly as the fold system is great - everything collapses in one go including the carrycot. We’re very much city / cafe dwellers so works really well for that.

Than the maxi cosi pro 360 pebble car seat which can lie flat.

Also a BabyBjorn carrier and Maxi Cosi 6 in 1 highchair.

Might bite the bullet and order it all next week.

Flossiepot · 27/08/2023 07:45

I have missed so much on here 🙈
Congrats on all the scans and babies cooking healthily 🥰 We're also starting to look at the big things now - so exciting. Think we're going for the Ocarro bundle with car seat. With the carriers/ slings has anyone used any good ones other than the baby bjorn? There's a chicco one which is much cheaper but don't want to go a lot cheaper if it's rubbish. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Kalodin · 27/08/2023 07:48

I've had various hand me down slings and carriers @Flossiepot And I've found where some friends have raved about a sling, they haven't quite suited me and baby and vice versa. I think it depends on individuals.

I do love a sling for when they're little and then I used carriers up to the age of 3 for when we have done long walks.

Kalodin · 27/08/2023 07:49

Proper felt baby moving last night and from the outside too! So exciting. Soonest I've felt from the outside (18 weeks tomorrow)

Flossiepot · 27/08/2023 08:10

Thanks @Kalodin I'll have to get some more research in I think. Aww how cute 🥰 don't think I've felt anything from the outside yet. So lovely feeling him all the time now though.

Dannic2018 · 27/08/2023 08:45

@Flossiepot we have a close caboo sling and a Egrobaby carrier from our ds and they were both great. Definitely want to use them more this time and be more confident to do it alone, especially having a toddler still

Lightningrain · 27/08/2023 09:11

@Flossiepot we’re going for the Ocarro bundle too. There’s an offer on this weekend in store at Mamas and Papas where there’s a big chunk of money off plus you get a £100 gift card if you spend over £1000.

We’re going for the Ergo baby 360 carrier but I wasn’t sure whether to also get a soft sling for using at home for the first few months to allow me to get things done in the house.

Matildahoney · 27/08/2023 09:27

For those mentioning slings & carriers, my chiropractor, who specialises in pregnancy & baby chiropractic advises the new baby bjorns only as they have the hip support, babies legs shouldn't dangle. But she also says every baby is different so don't get a carrier until they are born, then go to a sling library to try them as they need to be comfortable for baby & you, she had 3 babies, 3 different slings/carriers because they weren't right for each of them

Bims2019 · 27/08/2023 09:35

@Booklover88 glad I'm not the only one! 😂 I'm hoping to get bits from Facebook marketplace too, managed to get a BBhugme pillow on there a couple of weeks ago for a good price. I think the only thing we're absolutely set on buying new is the car seat!

@Kalodin that's so lovely about the movement! I can't wait to feel more on the outside, am feeling it most mornings and evenings now and sometimes a bit during the day. Definitely makes it feel more real 😊

Mummyme87 · 27/08/2023 10:07

I want a new sling this time. I had the ergobaby omni 360 I think but there’s a few others that are raved about. I’m not a baby bjorn fan, didn’t find them particularly comfortable, a bit too structured for the first 6months. Babipur online has lots, and cheaper isn’t better for slings/carriers. Near me in (in tooting @sashastuck ) there’s Wear my baby, they are amazing with a huge range of slings. They try them all on you and your partner to make sure you get the right style
