I couldn't find a new thread open as the old is now full.

Got a few of the usernames to tag, definitely missed people but hopefully they find the thread :)

@UnwieldyRhombus in the south of ireland were i am employed, legally you have to take 2 weeks prior to due date, so i am taking that and an additional weeks AL, so stopping work at 37 weeks, due 13th Nov, last day of work 20th October

WriMum22 · 24/08/2023 11:46

@UnwieldyRhombus I officially go on maternity leave at 38 weeks, but finish work at 36 weeks with two weeks annual leave. I did the same with my son (he’s four) and he actually arrived at dead on 38 weeks so on the day my maternity leave officially started.

I think it all depends on how you’re feeling and if you have annual leave days etc. This is my third pregnancy and with my first one I had terrible back pain so went on Mat leave at 30 weeks, the second pregnancy was better and well this one is probably the worse out of all three but I’m lucky this time because my job is easier than what I was doing during my first pregnancy.

Oreopie · 24/08/2023 11:47

@UnwieldyRhombus due 6th nov and taking annual leave (last day 20th October) and Mat leave starting 3rd November.

I'll be 38 weeks when I break up but work from home so that makes things a bit easier

GreenAventurinee · 24/08/2023 11:58

Hi everyone. I have my glucose test tomorrow. Is it as bad as people say?

JD90 · 24/08/2023 12:23

@GreenAventurinee I had mine on Tuesday, ita wasn't the most fun time but it was fine. It left me feeling pretty nauseous and yuk but that's pretty standard anyways 🤣 the drink didn't taste great but I just downed it in one and then had mu water and its all good. I was one of only a couple of people there by myself which shocked me tbf

TMI2000 · 24/08/2023 13:04

@GreenAventurinee i had mine on Saturday and was so worried but it really wasn’t too bad. The drink is grim and so sugary, it made my tongue go all funny but I had heard it was like thickened water so I was so relieved when it wasn’t! It just left me feeling a bit sick from all the sugar and the hardest part was the waiting. Results back next day which was very impressive considering it was a Sunday!
good luck!

Katiec1 · 24/08/2023 14:01

@UnwieldyRhombus rep. of Ire here too and will be legally finishing up for mat leave at 38 weeks, although work are pretty flexible so won’t mind if I have to finish earlier.
On first pregnancy I finished up 38 weeks but with 2nd I had to finish up at 27 weeks (twin pregnancy)
Will be seeing consultant at 32 weeks so I’ll be taking their advice from there on when to finish up.

GreenAventurinee · 24/08/2023 14:18

Glad to hear it isn’t too bad. It’s At 9 in the morning so I’m hoping it won’t take too long 😊

38andtrying · 24/08/2023 15:31

Had my 28 week consultant appointment, all looking great, baby measuring 3lb 1oz, near top of chart lol does this mean a big bruiser?

Psqueak87 · 24/08/2023 17:26

@AngeloMysterioso I’ve had low blood pressure all pregnancy too, and I’m always on the low end of normal when I’m not pregnant so kinda used to the dizziness. But yeah they said as long as I can cope with the dizziness that they have no concerns as it’s much better than high BP.

@UnwieldyRhombus I have a stressful job too, air traffic control, so I know how you feel, but not taking maternity leave till 39 weeks as I only get 4 months fully paid, so I don’t want to start that 4 months timer until as late as possible. I have managed to use some left over holiday days though so from about 36 weeks I only work 3-4 days per week. Some days are awful and I just want to leave early, but I keep thinking the countdown is on!

Psqueak87 · 24/08/2023 17:29

@GreenAventurinee I have a really sweet tooth so didn’t mind the glucose drink at all. I wouldn’t drink it again out of choice, but it was just like a flat Fanta!

GreenAventurinee · 24/08/2023 17:46

A flat Fanta doesn’t sound too bad!
What did everyone’s 28 week app entail?

AngeloMysterioso · 24/08/2023 19:34

GreenAventurinee · 24/08/2023 14:18

Glad to hear it isn’t too bad. It’s At 9 in the morning so I’m hoping it won’t take too long 😊

I’d allow at least 2 and a half hours… take a good book!

PinkPlantCase · 24/08/2023 20:01

@GreenAventurinee mines next week but midwife said they’d start measuring the bump and do blood tests to check iron levels and to cross check my blood type (again 🙄)

Thack · 24/08/2023 20:40

@GreenAventurinee mine was blood pressure, urine check, doppler, measure with tape and a blood sample to check iron levels. Quite a quick appointment, all been straightforward since I saw MW last.

GreenAventurinee · 24/08/2023 20:53

I’ll update tomorrow with how it went for anyone who has theirs coming up. I always seem to get a bit nervy before appointments.

Spareincoming · 24/08/2023 21:11

28 week appointment for me was Doppler, blood test, wee dip, bump measure and check of my mental health, quick review of my notes. Nothing interesting!

We had our scan and consultant meeting today about baby being very small; and they have confirmed that baby has gained some weight- not as much as anyone had hoped but at the moment things are still viable so we are proceeding with baby purchases with caution - not that we need anything but baby deserves a first outfit that’s theirs not a siblings! Back in 2 weeks to see if there’s any changes. We’re still in a neutral frame of mind rather than positive but that’s better than negative.

GreenAventurinee · 25/08/2023 10:25

Just an update for anyone having theirs - the glucose drink was fine. Baby girl was stubborn though and wouldn’t let the consultant listen to her heartbeat so he had to scan me to find it. I wasn’t concerned as I felt her kick as soon as he got the Doppler out! 😁
I’m measuring 26-27 weeks and I’m 28 tomorrow which apparently isn’t a concern.

Sb86 · 25/08/2023 11:15

Saw you'd made a new thread @crazybrowncow so here you go 😊

Crazybrowncow · 25/08/2023 12:53

Thanks @Sb86! I've been on hols so lost track a bit!

I seem to have suddenly got quite a bit bigger and definitely finding bending more uncomfortable!

@Spareincoming - pleased to see your positive update.

DollyGx · 25/08/2023 14:02

@Spareincoming glad to hear that - sending all the positive vibes your way for the next scan ✨🧡

BabyBabyBaby123 · 26/08/2023 17:49

Had my growth scan this morning 28+3 and although my bump is measuring way above 97th% baby was measuring on 50th% and fluid level was bang in the middle of expected too. So no idea why I’m measuring so big, I’m wondering if I could just be all anterior placenta …
This has really put me at ease anyway and I will go ahead and book a 4D scan to take my eldest daughter to, as she really enjoyed it when I was pregnant with DD2.

foodislife1 · 26/08/2023 20:26

Is anyone suffering from the most intense rib pain?
It has been so bad that it's almost brought me to tears! 😩

Thack · 26/08/2023 20:47

I haven't had the rib pain yet but remember it from DC1. Hoping they move soon for you!

I remember knowing when their head was engaged because I could take a deep breath. They tipped up briefly for two or three nights before arriving. Was just amazing to breathe!

GreenAventurinee · 26/08/2023 21:20

I’ve booked for a 4d scan. Mainly because I want to (triple) check babies gender. Am I being ridiculous? I’m not sure it’s because we’ve finished getting everything this week and it’s all in pink. It’s super rare for them to get the gender wrong isn’t it?
