@Katiec1 @PinkPlantCase I am almost 26 weeks and came on to ask the same! First baby but when I woke up this morning there was dry flakey stuff around one of my nipples and a patch on the bed of something similar at the right height to be from my boobs. But I though this didn't happen until the end 🤣.

Katiec1 · 20/08/2023 19:25

@FlyingHighFlyingLow @PinkPlantCase thanks for reply ladies 😌 I guess it’s normal and nothing for me to worry about so. Have heard about leaking but thought it was closer to the end that it started 🙈

I went out with my DH tonight for tea to celebrate his new job and was asked when I’m due by 2 different people in the restaurant and they were shocked to find out that I’m not due til November due to how big I am.
I have been saying for weeks that I feel huge and I know I was measuring above 97th% when I was last checked at 26 weeks, but having strangers be shocked at how big I am has really thrown me.
I will be back in work on 4th September after 6 weeks of summer time off and I am dreading having this conversation over and over again with other members of staff and with the kids that I teach. I have always been quite self conscious about my body image and I am really feeling it at the minute.

I feel massive and I'm 26wks this is my 3rd baby , but when k went to my app at 24wks I was measuring one week behind , I wouldn't let it get to you , embrace your body your carrying a extra very special person that you've created , I look in the mirror every week and think why am I big & am I going to have a big baby I'm not due till end of November myself , I know how you feel when someone comments on your belly and stating how big you are , xx

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 21/08/2023 00:14

Only my first but I've had so many comments about how big I am, am I sure there isn't 2 in there, how I'll clearly need a csection to get baby out because so big (will be c section anyway due to medical issues), how they were never this big at this stage etc. Equally bump is currently very front facing, from the back no one can tell.

I've had so many medical issues this pregnancy, at almost 26 weeks I have had over 15 triage visits. Every one necessary. I also still haven't got back up to my prepregnancy weight despite my bump size. I may be admitted and kept in until birth at some point fairly soon if no improvement. It's been tough and all I want is to keep baby in long enough to hopefully come out healthy. If I'm the size of someone carrying a football team by then so be it!

PinkPlantCase · 21/08/2023 07:28

People just like to make shitty comments once your pregnant.

I’m tall and a size 8 usually but I make big bumps 😂 It generally measured just over the 90th percentile with DS. I had all the comments last time, are you sure there aren’t two in there. Baby must be huge, they’ll never come out on their own etc etc.

Actually DS was born on the 40th percentile and at over a week late he was just under 8lbs. Born in a pool at home quite simply. The placenta was huge though which did contribute to the bump size 😂

I’ve got better at replying to the crappy comments. Mostly because I can say oh I just make big bumps, it was the same last time but everything was just fine.

Or saying yeah it’s because I make huge placentas normally shuts people up. Nobody wants to hear about placentas!

If it’s someone I know well who really should know better and they make a comment about babying huge or needing a c-section they get a much curter response where I ask them if that’s a helpful comment and how I have every confidence in my body’s ability to birth the baby it has made. They usually don’t go there again.

Sorry you’ve had a difficult time of it @FlyingHighFlyingLow it much be such a lot to deal with. Are you working too?

BabyBabyBaby123 · 21/08/2023 08:38

@PinkPlantCase I actually had a dual lobed placenta with my youngest DD, which they told me was big and unusual, so maybe that is contributing to my massive bump.
I always measured bang on with my other 2, they were good weights at 8lb 9 (41+1) and 7lb 3 (38+3) but they are both girls and this is a boy, so I am also telling myself that could be a factor.

Rebs23 · 21/08/2023 09:38

@Katiec1 im exactly the same as you, 27+5 today and I’ve noticed this in the past few days! The nhs website says it’s normal and nothing to worry about so I’m going with that :)

JoyApple · 21/08/2023 10:38

Hi have any of you decided not to have the whooping cough vaccine?

I've been delayed with as had different health issues and there just wasn't a time where I could easily get it and not have to worry about getting potentially ill. I've just come out of hospital due to low blood pressure & abdominal pain etc and I'm booked in for the jab in a week. Not sure I've got the strength to cope with being sick again from the jab ... Feel like just giving it a miss ...

Katiec1 · 21/08/2023 10:45

@JoyApple I was never offered any flu or whooping cough vaccines during my last pregnancies and both me and babies were fine.

I do feel for this pregnancy I’m constantly being asked into getting them (flu, whooping cough and covid).
Each to their own but I’m not going to get them, I suffered quite bad after my first 2 covid jabs (really bad migraines, back/chest pain) and I really don’t want to have to go through it all again being pregnant and with 3 other kids to care for too.

Hi, first time posting on this thread, I'm 29 weeks today!

If it helps, when I had my whooping cough vaccine the nurse said it's not a live vaccine and therefore there shouldn't be any side affects. Thankfully I didn't get any at all.

Sorry to hear you're feeling run down, hope you feel better soon

Katiec1 · 21/08/2023 10:47

@Rebs23 thanks 😊 I’m going to go with that too! Just another of the many joys of being pregnant I suppose 😊

JoyApple · 21/08/2023 10:57

@Oreopie good to hear you didn't have any symptoms :)

@Katiec1 thanks. I suffered really bad after my two vaccines too, in fact I'm pretty sure I ended up with long COVID symptoms after it. I think I'm going to go with my gut and leave it.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 21/08/2023 11:09

@JoyApple they don't just give whooping cough, its a diptheria, tetanus, polio and whooping cough booster as the whooping cough doesn't work well on its own. It's inactivated. I had a sore arm for a couple days (likely the tetanus!) but no other symptoms.

I had it, will also have the flu one (already booked for end of Sept) as I do every year without issue. I've decided against covid vaccine though for the minute. The original ones made me very unwell, 39 degree fever etc and really screwed up my periods for months. I don't want to take something I know will make me that ill and I know affected me reproductively in the past while pregnant. There is apparently a new covid one that's more 'old style' rather than mRNA (Nuvaxovid) so I'm keeping my eye on that one.

Shaker21 · 21/08/2023 12:01

@JoyApple I had my whooping cough vaccine after my 20 week scan and other than a sore arm for a day I felt absolutely fine. I think I would have the flu jab also if offered it but not the covid vaccine as the same as @FlyingHighFlyingLow I also got quite ill from the covid vaccine and feel like it did make my cycle longer the month I had it so wouldn't want to risk having it while pregnant

DollyGx · 21/08/2023 12:25

I had the whooping cough vaccine at my 16 week appointment and had absolutely no side effects afterwards, but go with what you feel is best for you. Not been offered a covid or flu jab but don’t think I’d bother with the covid one as like some of the others the last one I had left me feeling quite unwell for 24/48 hours

PinkPlantCase · 21/08/2023 13:19

I’ll have the Whooping cough vaccine especially because DS will still be in nursery and though he’s been vaccinated against it there’s still a chance he could bring it home and it’s so dangerous for tiny babies.

I’m declining flu and covid this time. Like others the covid jabs have always made me feel odd for a week or so and I’ve never liked how the flu vaccine is just a guess at what this years stain will be.

Spareincoming · 21/08/2023 15:21

I’ve had the whooping cough at 16 weeks - no symptoms at all - much like previous pregnancies. It’s a solo vaccine and not a “live one” so shouldn’t cause side effects, other than the standard sore arm!
Flu and covid is a seasonal vaccine here so I missed out on both of those this time. Not too fussed about those to be fair.
We also suspect we had covid as a household back in May for the third time; symptoms were the same and I felt the same horrible mess I had done when I definitely had it both times before but it was was milder than last time round and passed through the household faster.

medicmumma · 21/08/2023 18:59

What prams are people thinking of getting?

BabyBabyBaby123 · 21/08/2023 19:11

@medicmumma I have ordered a Mountain Buggy Duet, because I will need a double this time.
I had the Venicci Tinum V2 with my DD and love it and will be using it again this time when I am taking the baby out without her.

Oreopie · 21/08/2023 19:13

@medicmumma we have gone for the Babylo XTI from Smyths Toys

LeeanneD11 · 21/08/2023 19:45

I've gone for a bugaboo this time
Round , had a double icandy before due to my kids being 10 months apart xx

Thack · 21/08/2023 20:41

I had no problems with whooping cough vaccine this time or with my first. Barely a sore arm!

I'm considering getting the flu and covid jabs. I had a cold around two months ago and it knocked me for six. Took two weeks to get over it and it wasn't even a bad one.

We have the cosatto quad bundle from older DC. It is really nice, but if I were to buy now, I'd get it all seperate.

I didn't take DC1 out in the car seat much, so although it was handy to put it on the same base it wasn't much bother to take the pram top.
As a buggy, it is bulky and doesn't fold down much ,so a bit of a pain to take on days out. I'd have been as happy with a simple, lightweight, folding stroller

Psqueak87 · 21/08/2023 21:11

@JoyApple I am not getting the vaccine, but for different reasons. Unfortunately the pandemic turned my boyfriend into a conspiracy / joe rogan junkie, and he is now untrusting of health experts. I am not of the same views, but for his mental health I am declining it. He had quite a bad mental health breakdown during the pandemic, to the point I was scared to leave him alone for even an hour.

he’s in a great place mentally now, but I know me getting that vax could send him right back. It’s unfortunate as I’m the one who has to say all this to my OBGYN and I am so embarrassed.

he also doesn’t want our baby getting any vaccines, I’ve tried advocating for it but it ends in a huge argument. As much as I adore him he’s very stubborn and very much the strong personality in our relationship.

I’m actually dreading that discussion after labour more than I’m dreading the labour. And then we have the whole problem that our child may not be admitted to daycare when the time comes. He doesn’t think that far ahead though, but I’ve warned him that if she can’t get into daycare due to this, that I will be going back to work as planned, and he has to deal with the consequences of his decisions and stay home.

@medicmumma i am planning on going for the Thule urban glide or a BOB jogger. I want something that can handle trails well. But I won’t buy it till spring as it’ll be snowy here in Canada.

Spareincoming · 21/08/2023 23:30

@Psqueak87 Don’t get a BOB! We’ve had two and they’ve both been dreadful!
They go rusty quickly around the bolts and the steering front wheel jams in anything but perfect weather.
The first one was a recalled one too and they replaced the whole
thing so technically we’ve had 3! The third was a newer version of the previous two and looked greatly improved… we were given as a farm pram for DP to take the kids to the farm with him. We skipped it because of the above issues - cosmetically it was much improved, usability however…
Mountain buggy or Out n about is my recommendation now!
I think I’ll get the new out and about nipper and dp will use our old one on the farm.
