Hello!

I got a BFP this morning and think that I am approximately 4 weeks pregnant.
Whilst I am of course delighted, I had a chemical pregnancy last month and so my initial elation has quickly been replaced with fear and wishing that I didn't know so early!

Just wondering if there is anyone in the same boat? If really appreciate some company and morale support during the wait!

Thank you x

Is anyone really struggling with early pregnancy, I'm due in May, so wrong thread for me but I'm only 5 weeks 3 days and I feel dreadful, I'm so tired all the time, breast are full achy and heavy, and I feel nauseous at food smells, it helps once I have eaten something but I just feel really crap. I had a MMC in April but I didn't feel like this, must be a good thing though.

Had my viability scan today and baby is in the right place, could see the heartbeat and little hands and feet moving! Measuring larger than I thought I am (9 weeks at 8+4) but so relieved they seemed quite active in there.

@WolfMother326 that is just lovely to hear, so happy for you!

@Lorddenning1 hey welcome :) I can definitely relate to those symptoms of tiredness and sore breasts, but from about 7 wks they reduced A LOT and at 8+4 wks today I feel so energised and like my normal self again, hang in there, hopefully it eases soon 😊

@Albrook fabulous news congrats 🥳
@WolfMother326 awwww that's lovely 😊 be 12 weeks before you know it
@jodie000 Yey congrats that's amazing 🤩 I'm hoping to see 2 little heartbeats on Friday 😊

netflixandnochill · 10/09/2023 19:22

@WolfMother326 So nice to hear 🤍

@Lorddenning1 Yep, get bloody terrible since week 5 and no sign of it easing. I just keep telling myself that it’s a short period in the long run. Mid second trimester/from about 14 weeks is usually fab!

CinderRosie · 10/09/2023 19:47

I also had a visibility scan today at 8+1 but they measured me at 8+3. One baby in the right place with a heartbeat flickering away ❤️

DizzyM43 · 10/09/2023 20:45

@CinderRosie Yey 🥰 how lovely to hear all this good news

WolfMother326 · 10/09/2023 21:00

Congratulations @CinderRosie such greats news ♡

WolfMother326 · 11/09/2023 14:37

Is anyone else feeling crampy? Its not sharp pain, just aching in pelvis and back. No bleeding. 8+2 today.

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 11/09/2023 15:27

Yep @WolfMother326 had quite bad cramps week 4-5 then it seemed to die down now it's back again here and there at 7 weeks.

Perfectly normal, mostly the uterus expanding and the progesterone wreaking havoc.

Unless it's quite bad one-sided pain and/or accompanied with bleeding, no reason to worry.

WolfMother326 · 11/09/2023 18:08

Thanks @XenaTheWarriorPrincess I appreciate it ♡

roro87 · 11/09/2023 21:17

@WolfMother326 I'm the same dates as you and I had it all weekend. I can notice a difference in my stomach today.

WolfMother326 · 12/09/2023 07:49

Thanks @roro87, that's helpful.

I've woken up this morning with a tiny bit of pink spotting. Of course we're away from home visiting my in laws in Wales. Can you only go to EPU where you're registered or can you go anywhere in the UK?

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 12/09/2023 08:53

I think it'll depend on whether the epu is self referral or gp referral @WolfMother326

Give the local epu a call to see, if they say you need a gp referral, you may be able to contact a local walk in centre for a referral.

If the pain becomes severe, you can present at a&e and they'll send you to epu to check for an ectopic.

A bit of spotting in early pregnancy is quite common and not always cause for concern, but if you've not already had an early scan it's always better to err on the side of caution and get epu to scan you to rule out ectopic.

WolfMother326 · 12/09/2023 08:59

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess thanks for replying. I had a good scan at 6+4 (2 weeks ago), so it's def not an ectopic pregnancy. I've had a loss of symptoms over the past two weeks tho, been much more mild. I'm not having severe pain, just light achy cramps and now light pink spotting. I phoned and the hospital said I could self refer. Now I'm not sure what to do as we haven't told my in laws and we'd have to if I go off for a few hours. Maybe I'm overreacting and should wait and see? Or should I just go?

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 12/09/2023 09:23

@WolfMother326 it's completely up to you what you decide to do.

Going to epu and getting scanned won't change the outcome so it's about whether you would rather know either way now, or wait and see what happens.

When I had my 11 week mc, I chose to simply wait and see and then when it was obvious, wait until the worst had passed then get scanned to make sure everything had passed.

I wouldn't worry too much over spotting though, personally. It's incredibly common and usually not an issue (especially if ectopic has already been ruled out), but if a scan would calm your nerves, do it. And in the unlikely event that it is bad news, you can head home in advance so you're more comfortable when it happens.

Absolutely no need to tell your in laws if you don't want to, you can just tell them you and partner simply want a few hours to yourself.

roro87 · 12/09/2023 09:36

@WolfMother326 I had a good bit of spotting at the start. I went to the epu and they couldn't find a reason for it but it may just be more reassuring to go. You could even tell your in laws you aren't feeling very well and just want to get checked over. I've had a loss of symptoms all last week, they seem to have returned a bit now. I haven't been able to have a scan since then but I assume all is well

WolfMother326 · 12/09/2023 09:55

Thanks @roro87 and @XenaTheWarriorPrincess I just passed some red clots. They were small but freaked me out. I have an appointment at the local epu tomorrow at 10.30. I think I'd just rather know what's going on as I don't have a very good feeling. Still have mild cramping and mild nausea.

DizzyM43 · 12/09/2023 17:04

@WolfMother326 hope all is ok with you and your little bean, thinking of you, hoping you get good news at EPU xx

WolfMother326 · 13/09/2023 12:36

So I've just been to the EPU and they confirmed a loss. I'm really grateful to have chatted with you all here, and wishing you the best with your pregnancies and spring babies ♡
