Hello!

I got a BFP this morning and think that I am approximately 4 weeks pregnant.
Whilst I am of course delighted, I had a chemical pregnancy last month and so my initial elation has quickly been replaced with fear and wishing that I didn't know so early!

Just wondering if there is anyone in the same boat? If really appreciate some company and morale support during the wait!

Thank you x

Hey! It’s at 5:15, I’m sooo nervous! I haven’t really had many other symptoms either. Occasional nausea on an evening but nothing excessive! So that makes me worry more😂 what about you? Oh is that right, maybe that’s why then? No one warns you about the constant worry you feel as soon as you see that positive do they! X

jodie000 · 08/09/2023 14:52

@Charliebarley34 I'm 8+2 and have experienced the same thing, last week I wouldn't have dared walk about the house without a bra (or sleep they were that tender) and today I'm so happy to be bra free in this heat! @CinderRosie thanks for the info this is good to know x

DizzyM43 · 08/09/2023 15:54

@WordyShapesOfWomen congrats 🥳

@jodie000 you need to have a bowl of crunchy nuts 😂 I haven't had much of an appetite either and I love my food also maybe that's one of your pregnancy symptoms? I am however able manage crunchy nuts no probs every time lol, my nausea is def in waves and seems to be better if I keep dry snacks on me to graze on 🙈

@Mrsttcno1 over the moon for you congrats on seeing the heartbeat 💓

Is anyone really suffering with heartburn? I'm sure that's why I'm feeling sick but not sure what to do to ease it

CinderRosie · 08/09/2023 16:18

@DizzyM43 yes to the heartburn, especially when lying down and it has woken me up at night before. I've been taking gaviscon tablets even though they are disgusting 😷
I had a wave of nausea really bad at work earlier and when I ate some crisps and popped a gaviscon, it's been pretty much ok for the rest of the day (so far!)

Albrook · 08/09/2023 18:14

@Mrsttcno1 I have my scan tomorrow and I am so nervous! I should be exactly 7w +4/5 days so we're very similar! Also have my first midwife on Tuesday!

Mrsttcno1 · 08/09/2023 18:43

Good luck @Albrook !! I’m sure it will be absolutely fine! Xxx

DizzyM43 · 09/09/2023 08:24

@CinderRosie thanks will give it a try along with my snacks and see if I can stomach it 🫣

@Albrook good luck with your scan

netflixandnochill · 09/09/2023 13:17

My scan went well - still two of them! 😵‍💫 The sonographer reminded me that no amount of worrying is going to change the outcome either way so I should try and relax. ‘What will be will be, there isn’t anything you can do at this point’. Of course, I know that but it’s sometimes easier coming from a third party. Think I can now hold out until harmony at 10 and a bit weeks. Wishing everyone luck in their scans x

WolfMother326 · 09/09/2023 13:43

Congratulations @netflixandnochill! Yes I've been trying to tell myself the same thing. Whatever will be, will be. I can't control it so just trying to relax and love my baby everyday. What date is your harmony test? Mine is on Mon 25 Sept. I will be 10+2.

netflixandnochill · 09/09/2023 13:48

@WolfMother326 Thank you! I’ve not booked yet but I’m thinking 10+1 or 10+2 so 22nd or 23rd Sept x

Mrsttcno1 · 09/09/2023 13:49

Congratulations @netflixandnochill !!

I’ve just noticed you and @WolfMother326 mention a harmony test, is this something that my midwife will mention? I haven’t heard anything about it, but do have my booking appointment on Tuesday. X

netflixandnochill · 09/09/2023 14:01

Thank you @Mrsttcno1!

(I think) Harmony is the branded name for NIPT tests which look at the three trisomys, sometimes you get a scan with it too. It’s basically just a blood test but it can flag any potential areas of concern from 10 weeks. It can also tell you the gender if you’d like to find out.

The NHS do a basic version at 20 weeks. The private ones aren’t cheap and are not offered (or really discussed) on the NHS. I had one with my first and found it really reassuring x

WolfMother326 · 09/09/2023 14:01

@Mrsttcno1 it's not a standard test on the NHS, unless your combined test (blood test and nuchal translucency) comes back high risk at the 12 week scan, most women don't have it. I'm not sure about @netflixandnochill, but I'm having it privately and it costs about £500. I'm older and just want peace of mind. I did it in my last pregnancy too (I was 37 then) and felt it was worth the extra reassurance, but I think the majority of women do not have it.

Mrsttcno1 · 09/09/2023 14:06

thank you both for the info! I’ll look into it and discuss with DH to see if that’s something we might also look at, both DH and I are 25 and first baby so both very naive about these things I suppose! X

jodie000 · 09/09/2023 15:57

@Mrsttcno1 I'm also 25 (partner is 30) first baby for both of us so in the same naivety boat!!

Yep, mine will be £400. I look at it similarly to the 4D scan in that it’s a luxury extra thing but as I don’t plan on having ten kids (especially if they come in doubles…) I like to do as much as poss each pregnancy. And I just ‘girl math’ anything in pregnancy as my booze/food I’m not allowed budget 😂

Greenvelvetdress · 09/09/2023 16:25

How's everyone feeling today? I feel so so sick 🤢 11 weeks today and it's not letting up at all. I've had three previous miscarriages so trying to see it as a positive but it's also tricky 😫

jodie000 · 09/09/2023 16:35

@netflixandnochill girl math 🤣 love that! And you're right, do what makes you happy 💕

@Greenvelvetdress sorry to hear your not feeling the best, you're ahead of me by about 3 weeks, hopefully by 2nd trimester the nausea goes! Hang on in there x

Albrook · 09/09/2023 17:11

@Mrsttcno1 & @DizzyM43 thank you! The scan went really well, measuring spot on at 7w + 4. We saw the heart beat and he said it was lovely and strong. I do however have a haematoma on the left side which they mentioned I need to be cautious off bleeding but it could also be reabsorbed x

Cinderz123 · 09/09/2023 17:18

Feeling nackered today!! Constipation is ruling my life right now it's awful I just want to pooh!!! 😩 iv been eating apricots, grapes drinking orange juice and it's not budging!! I feel so full of pooh 😫😫😫

roro87 · 09/09/2023 20:27

@Cinderz123 Doctor told me orange juice can make it worse. Raw carrots are good, so are green smoothies and worst case lactalouse is safe for pregnancy. It's horrible I've had it until today and then today I've gone like 5 times don't know what I did differently

Cinderz123 · 09/09/2023 20:34

Really orange juice makes it worse?? 😫😫 its been awful today I keep trying but I can't go I'm so uncomfortable, if u figure out ur secret please do share I'm desperate xx

jeepjeep4 · 09/09/2023 21:27

@Cinderz123 could it be the iron in a pregnancy vitamin tablet? I've found that messing with my stomach. I switched to just folic acid alone and I've been ok since then.

Cinderz123 · 09/09/2023 22:09

I didnt think about that, iv been drinking plenty of water getting fibre but it's just not budging if I still cnt go tomorrow I'm off to the chemist lol xx

WolfMother326 · 09/09/2023 23:10

Sorry bit random and cheesy, but just looked at my 6+4 scan photo again and felt so happy about this 2nd baby, I'm really grateful to be pregnant. I was 8 weeks today and for the first day in a while I didn't feel anxious, I think it's just hearing so many rough stories and also a lot of close friends have had mmc. But today was a good day, and I tried to picture what the baby might be like for the first time and felt happy (and nauseous 😄)
