Thank you ladies💕
I’m okay, but you know how it is when your so hormonal and really trying not to cry when someone’s being a dick!
Glad you’re okay, ugh yes know exactly what you mean. Good for you for going to hr, hopefully they’ll be all over it as it opens them up to a legal minefield if that behaviour continues!!

@Meeting oh no! You defo need your DH to speak to MIL and nip this in the bud now, set those boundaries and be clear they are non negotiable.

after my first (emergency section) we had so many visitors in the first few weeks, some just popped in, we’re perfect visitors - made their own tea, brough biscuits or even their own lunch with them (for us too!) didn’t expect anything and left after an hour or so. some even hung out the washing, or put the pots away which was so lovely.

My in laws expected lunch, didn’t move off my sofa, didn’t help or even make a cup of tea for themselves expected my husband to do it all and then wouldn’t give me back my back my baby when she cried - tried to sooth her themselves. I was so polite at the time but I look back and I was in pain, bleeding heavily, boobs on fire, emotional etc I didn’t want to have to get dressed to see them let alone sit on my sofa uncomfortable so they could Oo and ahh take photos put them on social media (despite us asking not too) and totally outstaying their welcome.

I’ve already set very clear rules this time, no hospital visitors other than husband and my first DC. No visitors once we are home until we are settled and comfortable and we will then let them know and work out a good time to visit that works for everyone, and even then no one will be staying over and we won’t be cooking main meals for anyone in the first couple of weeks! It might sound extreme to some but it really ruined my first few weeks of my newborn bubble :( I can’t let that happen again.

anony1111 · 10/08/2023 20:40

@Tilly18101 oh gosh that sounds awful! I don't think it sounds extreme at all, you have to do what's best for you as a family! Everyone else can wait!

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 10/08/2023 20:43

@DmcinT it was £12 I think for a response within 2 hours of they charge £9.99 for a response within 12 hours I think those were time frames lol

There’s some great tips in here for visiting others with newborns! My SIL is also pregnant due October and I’ll make us dream guests by bringing lunch/goodies for all 😂 perhaps others will see and learn and it will benefit us back 😂

I sound so ungrateful don’t I in that response - clearly still harbouring resentment aren’t I! I was so grateful to have visitors, and show off my new baby and catch up over a cuppa but after an hour or two max I was shattered. I needed people to leave so I could feed, change and get baby to sleep so I could nap too. I didn’t get more than 1-2 hrs straight the first few weeks it was absolutely brutal all while my insides were falling out of me!

I was so grateful when someone brought round the biscuits or messaged ahead to see if we needed anything to save us going the shops like milk or wipes etc. Getting things like biscuits and cake in was bottom of our list to do for guests, and I normally provide but not 4 days PP! Haha.

I didn’t expect anyone to do any jobs round our house but when they did it just made me so grateful for the little bits of help. I remember my sister hanging up all the washing for us and chucking all the towels/kitchen bits and bath mats in for us to make sure they were done - things you just don’t think about in that newborn blur. I always try to find something to do to help out the new parents now I’m a mama - I know 5/10 mins of my time makes a world of difference to them and I never stay longer than 1-2 hrs. X

pregnantnewbie · 10/08/2023 21:59

Hi all, I know this is a little late in the game but I'd like to join you. I'm new to MN, although a longtime lurker! I'm 13 weeks and just had my 12 week scan yesterday - EDD 15/2/24. Lovely to see all your scans. Mine went okay and I finally feel ready to accept that I might be having a child (1st baby) in the not too distant future! Very grateful to have some company in you all.

Thewildthingsarewithme · 10/08/2023 22:01

Has anyone had low Papp a? Feeling really upset about it tonight

Yes I had it in my last pregnancy. It honestly was fine, I just had extra scans and had to take baby aspirin. In the majority of people it causes no problems, and it didn't for me. I didn't realise it's pretty common - now know of where hire a few others who had it and also had no issues

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/08/2023 22:38

Is anyone getting sharp twinges on top of bump? Maybe it feels like round ligament pain a bit, as it goes away after a few seconds. However it's high up, and I remember it being lower last time

LavenderSweetPea · 10/08/2023 22:46

@Thewildthingsarewithme what papp-a number did you get? Mine seems low (0.4 MOM) but I haven't heard anything back from the midwife about if I should be taking aspirin so I'm a bit unsure.

Thewildthingsarewithme · 10/08/2023 23:02

Thanks @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it’s so difficult not to worry and I’ve got myself really panicked. Mine was 0.36 @LavenderSweetPea and I think anything under 0.415 is considered very low but it might be 0.4 in the NHS it was unclear online, mine was private as the country I live in doesn’t offer the screening xx

Mangotango39 · 11/08/2023 01:16

@Meeting oh Jesus - I feel for you - I would hate someone turning up every day even my own mum.
We unfortunately live further away but I doubt they would do this thankfully.

Your going to have to set really clear boundaries and have your DP back you up.

It's really hard when boundary crossing is disguised as 'helping' or 'caring' . Nope !

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/08/2023 06:17

LavenderSweetPea · 10/08/2023 22:46

You need to start the baby aspirin before 16 weeks, so if you haven't heard by then, maybe give midwife a call and check

LavenderSweetPea · 11/08/2023 06:26

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 ok thanks. Maybe I should just start taking the aspirin now, I'm already nearly 14 weeks. Is it 150mg a day right?

C1E · 11/08/2023 06:34

Me! I’ve been told to start 150mg aspirin which I’ve done and will see a consultant at 16 weeks with likely extra scans to monitor growth. My midwife flagged that this is something that sometimes pops up when I was having my bloods done so it didn’t feel as daunting because she already told me it’s something that’s quite common. The leaflet did worry me a bit - it’s easy to get hung up on the increased risks rather than the part that says for most it’s fine

Meeting · 11/08/2023 07:05

@Tilly18101 they sound awful! I'm glad you know better for this time and can put boundaries in place. My MIL is the opposite, she will want to take over my life and do everything for me and to some that might sound lovely but I can assure you she's really overbearing and wants everything done her way.

I've already told DH that she needs to call before turning up and that nobody can know I'm in hospital until after baby is born because they'll swarm to us. Visitors is a cultural thing for me but I'm happy to break tradition for my own sake. I know my own DM will respect my wishes so MIL will have to too!

@Mangotango39 that's exactly what it is!!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Yes, I am. Odd little twinges/ stabby pain, but up near my belly button, not down near where baby is. It started yesterday, I thought it might go after I’d been the toilet or something but it’s still happening intermittently. It doesn’t last long, a split second and isn’t painful. Never had this with my first. No idea what it is.

Welcome @pregnantnewbie! We’re EDD triplets with @DmcinT! It’s also my first and it’s starting to sink in for me too. Feeling excited but also overwhelmed with where to start with preparations!

Sunshineclouds11 · 11/08/2023 08:40

Do the results of bloods tests ever get updated on Badger?
Mine just say not published even for the ones I got done 8 weeks ago

FrostedFlake · 11/08/2023 09:07

I have also now gotten the early glimpse nub theory prediction done! Thanks to @MummyTo4BoysXXXX as I didn’t even know you could do it online!
Looks like we are having a girl 👧

Good luck to everyone getting their scan done today!

Also is/was anyone on progesterone and stopped at 12 weeks? I’m on Lubion injections and I’m petrified stopping them in case something goes wrong 😑

@FrostedFlake I'm not for this pregnancy but was for my first, I was also scared so I weaned myself off them instead of just stopping them suddenly.

FrostedFlake · 11/08/2023 09:14

@Sunshineclouds11 thats what I was thinking of doing, have gone down to one injection from two as was too scared to go cold turkey even though the clinic had said it should be fine to stop at 12 weeks.
How long did you continue on the reduced dosage if you don’t mind me asking?

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 ok thanks. Maybe I should just start taking the aspirin now, I'm already nearly 14 weeks. Is it 150mg a day right?

I'd def give midwife a call to ask. Although having said that, two different midwives gave me conflicting advice, then a doctor stepped in and said I should take it. And yes that was my dose. You just have to make sure to stop it from 35/36 weeks because they don't want the thinner blood for in labour

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/08/2023 09:28

@Nemo145 yes! Just above belly button also and to the sides. First few times I was worried, but it just hurts for a few seconds, then stops when I move. Are you bigger this time around? I'm 14 weeks and in maternity clothes already, so wondering if it's just weaker muscles or something?

@FrostedFlake oh wow! Will you find out the sex to see if correct? Have to say even though it's highlighted, I can't really see the nub myself.

FrostedFlake · 11/08/2023 09:31

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Im the same! Unless it’s highlighted I find them really hard to spot. I do think they align it with the little bladder so maybe that’s what they do when it’s not too obvious.
I don’t know if we will find out, I honestly don’t mind what we have but my DH would love a boy so maybe we will just keep it a “surprise”. Also not sure how accurate these are really.
Will you/have you found out the gender?
