Just got my bfp yesterday and EDD is early April 2024. Anyone else similar and feel like keeping each other company?

@HelloMoon87 I am so grateful for your encouragement. It will be hard. No doubt. For the first couple of months I’ll be out of the house 4 days a week, but from mid july - end September I’ll be working very flexibly from home 2 days a week, meaning I’m present for 4 days in 7. I have to make it work. How did you manage with just 3 months, if you don’t mind me asking?
With my son I had 6 months (but I was a lone parent, so he was in childcare).

@sugarplum33 being vague so this can’t come back at me, but I have to work a minimum number of days between May and September, so if the baby was due during that time I would have even less time off.

@olderthanyouthink that’s really encouraging to read. Thank you

Hi everyone and congratulations! I got my BFP last week and I'm slowly starting to believe it's maybe actually happening. This is my second baby and I had an early miscarriage before my first so I haven't wanted to get too excited.

Can I please have an updated link to the FB group? I was in one with my first and it was invaluable 🙏

fb.me/g/p_55hEhwSEacDbB5Vm/s4KNcUrA

It's going to expire after 2 more people join so I'll send a new one across.

Congratulations!xx

Anyone else with a toddler, I've played sleeping bunnies all morning because I can pretend to be asleep 😂

We missed our toddler class because I thought my husband had taken the car seat, it was in the hallway and I had passed it 10 times already. Baby Brain kicking in already

HelloMoon87 · 18/08/2023 14:16

@SurreyPsych we got a nanny, as family are in opposite sides of the world. My husband had 2 months off, but because we were first timers, he took them at the start as we still didn't know how I'd labour. Ideally, he would have started parental leave when I started work. It will work ok. If you can afford/trust nanny, that would be a better solution if you're partner has to work as well at some point. Does your partner need to go to work at some point? Going to nursery before 9 months might be tough as they get so sick so often, it'll be stressful to juggle work and childcare. But then needs must and you will find whatever solution that works for your family 💚

SurreyPsych · 18/08/2023 15:03

@HelloMoon87 that’s really interesting.
The plan would be for my husband to start his leave when I return to work (he will be off for a couple of weeks in April anyway, because he’s a teacher and it will be the Easter holidays). He would use the paid weeks of the shared parental leave entitlement and then use the generous annual leave he will have accrued in that time, which gives him almost 2 months at full pay.

If that plan works, he would go back to work when the baby is 10 months.

I have no idea how we will manage the inevitable days of nursery. It’s going to be really tough. My very restrictive work circumstances end in Sept 25, when the baby is 17 months, at which point I’m hoping to go part time and will prioritise making up for all that I’ll have sacrificed :(

Days off nursery*

Sorry for typos, not sleeping well.

Jumping on this thread as I've just got a bfp and due 23rd April 😱

Few symptoms, sense of smell is on point lol! Sore breast and mild nausea! I've never really had nausea before so hopefully this is a good sign it's gonna stick this time 🥰

Congrats! Very exciting :) fingers crossed for a sticky baby for you. Will this be your first?

theodora2146 · 18/08/2023 15:15

@Iamcatmum this will be my second pregnancy, I miscarried last year at 10 weeks so fingers crossed!

olderthanyouthink · 18/08/2023 15:29

@faban I have a toddler and preschooler at home and work from home with them atm. Fatigue hasn't kicked in yet and I pray it stays away.

I am due the same day 😀

Similar symptoms but now on antibiotics as I had a gland on my nipple get infected. At first I loved the symptoms and was relieved to be pregnant but now reality is hitting. I burst into tears this morning with the breast pain and hormones. I also had my midwife appt through... very surreal.

Still some anxiety though as it's so so early. I hope it sticks- sounds like you've had a loss before? I'm sorry.

I think my due date is 24th april🥰 according to the app im 4 weeks 2 days but im going to book a scan at 7 weeks (so another 3 weeks left) just to make sure the embryo is in the correct place. Im so excited but scared thinking im having another miscarriage😖 ive had some tiredness and slight feeling sick but nothing else yet hoping it stays this way as i cant handle puke🤮

CinderRosie · 18/08/2023 19:38

I don’t want to jinx anything but today I have not felt sick or retchy unlike the last couple of mornings. I don’t know if it was a coincidence or the fact that I swapped my morning coffee for tea, had a banana drizzled with honey for breakfast before leaving the house for work, or wore travel sickness bands all night and morning. Instead of feeling like I could gag at any moment I instead felt constantly hungry. I’m still completely off sweets and chocolate which is so unlike me….

Hi all! Pregnant... (God feels strange!!) PREGNANT... with my second!
So so in shock. Not taken any contraception for 4 years so just assumed one of us couldn't have anymore, gave up, planned life without!! Then, spent my birthday (12th August) sobbing, all day, more than usual haha as I am quite an emotional little soul anyway, husband said (as a joke) you need a pregnancy test!!! It got my mind wandering, so to put it at ease bought one the next day and, well, the rest is history 😂I am 29.

My cycles are so messed up, I can go 40 days in a cycle or sometimes 22 days, no telling hah. My last period (first day) was 17th June, so could be anywhere from 8 weeks to 4/5!! My best guess is around 6 weeks though, not sure why just a feeling I have/mixed with what my CB said! Time/scans will tell I guess.

Question is, what happens now I don't know when my due date is or how far along I am? Do I wait until 12 weeks from the 17th, have a '12 week scan' and if I'm earlier go back for another? Or will they arrange a scan to help date at my booking scan?

Boobs sore, nauseous, constipated. The joys of bringing new life!! 😂
Love to everyone x

Sorry that should say booking appointment at the bottom x

Poppins2016 · 18/08/2023 21:05

@Giles1008 goodness, that sounds incredibly traumatic for you, to say the least... Hopefully they'll listen much better this time around and prevent a second occurrence. I would definitely make note of your previous experience in your birth plan for reference.

@olderthanyouthink oh god how are you doing it! Hats off to you!

@Anonmurph ah wow congratulations!! I would get booked in with your midwife asap and see what they suggest. Could you have a private scan to get a better idea of dates?xx

Anonmurph · 18/08/2023 21:59

@faban I could do but trying to count the pennies. I will speak to midwife and if no luck book private I reckon. Still in shock though haha. X

olderthanyouthink · 18/08/2023 22:08

@Anonmurph I had due dates in June, July and august with DC 2. Ime they go by last period which is basically "worst case" and book you for a 12 week scan for that date and if you're not that far along you go back a bit later. This happened with both of my pregnancies because I have wonky cycles but the bracket was ridiculous with DC2.

@faban ummm not very well and hopefully I can quit soon.

Frankos · 19/08/2023 07:34

Two things:

  1. I need your constipation remedies, I really can’t cope with once every few days…
  2. at how many weeks do you tell your workplace?

thanks!!

olderthanyouthink · 19/08/2023 07:40

@Frankos

Errrr don't know, not having this problem but porridge normally helps soften things for me

15th week before the baby is due.... so 25 weeks pregnant so a bit over 5 months? Possibly sensible to do it before then but you don't have to. I told I think at about 12 weeks with one and a few weeks later with the second.
