Just got my bfp yesterday and EDD is early April 2024. Anyone else similar and feel like keeping each other company?

@LouH93 loratadine is fine and the default one for pregnancy/breastfeeding

Piriton is also considered safe but the packet will say consult a dr

www.nhs.uk/medicines/chlorphenamine-including-piriton/

I'd take it for a food allergy because not taking it is really bad but I do loratadine first because it's not drowsy but you might want the help going back to sleep?!

Just saw that pregnancy makes you extra attractive so might be worth hiding 🙈

Hope you can get some more sleep.

sugarplum33 · 18/08/2023 06:57

@olderthanyouthink I read that as pregnancy makes you extra attractive in general. Sitting here all bloated and with tired bags under my eyes I'm thinking 'really, people go for this look?!' 🤣

Sounds like some of you had some very dramatic births in this group!

Hope everyone slept okay. I seem to be waking up at 3am every single night which is weird but I did at least manage to get back to sleep again. 4+6 today, so close to 5 weeks!

Ooo I’ve been having exactly the same with waking up loads in the night and struggling to get back to sleep. I did read insomnia can occur in pregnancy so it all makes sense. I’m only at 4 weeks today based on LMP.

SurreyPsych · 18/08/2023 07:30

@Angloitalian83 yes, work :( I’ll be going back after 6 weeks and my husband will take shared parental leave. Driving is the only option.
Not sure how I felt after my previous birth, there will be 10 years between them.

@LouH93 interestingly, the Dr has prescribed antihistamine for morning sickness! So some of them must be fine :)

Welcome @Frankos

PigPug · 18/08/2023 08:12

Just 4+ 3 weeks here and relieved period hasn't shown up. Did a digital test along with HCG strips and all coming out well.

I am struggling with really sore and tender breasts. Already had Montgomery glands have come up (the spots/bumps around nipple) although my areoles are small and I have always had issues with this area getting chaffed easily. I feel like my body is being absolutely pumped with hormones.

SlovenlyUnwedMother · 18/08/2023 08:33

Hi everyone and congratulations! I got my BFP last week and I'm slowly starting to believe it's maybe actually happening. This is my second baby and I had an early miscarriage before my first so I haven't wanted to get too excited.

Can I please have an updated link to the FB group? I was in one with my first and it was invaluable 🙏

sugarplum33 · 18/08/2023 08:39

@SurreyPsych Your work situation sounds tricky. How do you feel about going back at 6 weeks?

@PigPug My boobs have started to get quite sore too. DD likes to snuggle on them like they're pillows when we are reading and I'm flinching as she bops her big head towards me haha

@Frankos Congratulations and what a great set of symptoms you have 🤣 I have no idea what you'd say your dates were. My hospital did have an 'unknown' LMP option on the booking in form so I guess that would be your situation.

Giles1008 · 18/08/2023 08:44

@Poppins2016 yes I did get an apology and nice private room for the night, we had to stay in because my son was in shock from the quick birth. Thankfully everything was fine but it was pretty traumatic actually and they mistakenly told me my ‘child was sick’ and rushed him away after the birth. I was having a cannula put in whilst pushing 🤯 still had my trainers on. Awful. He was completely fine except raised white blood cells but we never got to hold him until over an hour later.

CinderRosie · 18/08/2023 08:47

@sugarplum33 I'm excited to turn 5 weeks tomorrow!

Anyone else absolutely boiling? I keep saying to DH our bedroom is really hot at night but he's saying it's nice and cool. I'm usually freezing at work too in the air conditioned office but since my BFP I feel just right 😂

Giles1008 · 18/08/2023 08:53

@Angloitalian83 i feel your pain with childcare in London. We have recently just left London and wouldn’t have had anyone that would have got there in time.

Frankos · 18/08/2023 02:26

good night/morning,
I came off the pill on the 11th July and having big old positives past couple of days. Convinced myself I have everything possible going on from ectopic pregnancy to an incarcerated uterus so thought this feed would be better for my mental health on the late night insomnia scrolling. Symptoms so far: sore boobs, cramps, wild sense of smell, constipation. What a party. Don’t have a clue on ageing the pregnancy since the pill stopped my period, no idea on ovulation either. Was a surprise to be pregnant so quickly.

hope everyone is well. Going to spend the next while of the insomnia reading through the feed but just wanted to introduce myself in case any other night owls are up!

Did you have a withdrawal bleed after you stopped? In any case, you probably ovulated 2 weeks after stopping the pill, just like clockwork.
So youre probably between 4 and 5 weeks along. But Im sure once you get a scan theyll date it properly!

I had my first scan yesterday! Little bean is alive and well, strong heartbeat, and measuring at 6+4/5 (though I am now 7 weeks, but thats ok)

Having horrendous food aversion these days. No proper nausea, only when I eat something I don want LOL. And all I want is chips. Its been a tricky few days so far!

sugarplum33 · 18/08/2023 09:07

@CinderRosie Yay due date buddy!

Baby3please · 18/08/2023 09:37

Wow I had a lot to catch up on after not checking this chat for two days lol.

I ended up asking to get bloods done again today and just got my result back, hcg is 42000 and a week ago it was 6950. Midwife is happy with it. It hasn't increased as fast as the previous week so of course it's made me a bit nervous, but it's doubling every 65 hours so I'm still within the 72 hour frame which is apparently fine.

Booked my dating scan in today for the 28th when I'll be 7+4. Was hoping to get in next week but still glad to at least have a date now! I'll have to go alone as DH will have to watch the kids. 😣

Also I'm feeling absolutely rubbish at the moment, the exhaustion keeps getting worse and the nausea is kicking in. I should be doing housework right now but I feel like I can't move. 🥴

SurreyPsych · 18/08/2023 10:34

@Baby3please SAME! I’m laying out on a sofa right now with my laptop next to me but can’t bring myself to work. I wish there was a fix for early pregnancy symptoms, I feel as though the lack of medical advancement in this area is such a telling sign of how low priority women’s health is.

@sugarplum33 yeah, not good. It’s either 6 weeks or a full year and for many reasons a full year is out of the question.

@ASGIRC sorry about the food aversions but great news about the scan :)

@Giles1008 @Angloitalian83 also left London but still without family nearby. I hadn’t even thought about that so thanks for the prompt.

ASGIRC · 18/08/2023 10:54

@SurreyPsych 6 weeks or a full years with no inbetween?! Thats... so ridiculous!
I will probably only have 4 months, as thats what my country offers, on full pay. You can have 5 months at 90%, but not sure if I can swing that, as the "full pay" is also without some benefits you get when at work, like a meal and transport allowance.

Unless I managed to pay off my mortgage, but that is not dependent on me, but on some inheritance money that may or may not come my way (not my inheritance, but close enough that I might be the beneficiary of some help - not counting my chickens, though)

Isn’t it? I am saving a couple of weeks of annual leave to take beforehand, but if the baby is late I’ll have fewer than 6 weeks because I need to be back at work by mid May. I’m in the UK so legally I have much more flex than this, but my work situation is complicated. It’s blls**, frankly

SurreyPsych · 18/08/2023 11:04

Oh, the hashing out of the expletive didn’t work because the asterisks disappeared. I’m sure you know what I mean :D

ASGIRC · 18/08/2023 11:06

@SurreyPsych Yeah, most of my UK friends had at least 6 to 8 months (most took the whole year). 6 weeks is basically what I would expect from the US!

sugarplum33 · 18/08/2023 12:07

@SurreyPsych That's crazy. What would have happened if you were due in May or June?

Last time I had about 10 months maternity but lost most of it to lockdown so I was really ready to go back and have some meaningful interactions during the day. This time I don't know whether I'll go back at a similar point or have a full year as it will hopefully be a completely different experience.

olderthanyouthink · 18/08/2023 12:16

@sugarplum33 I'm sure you look lovely 😊 just wait for The Glow 😅

And yes I keep waking in the early morning, often end up boobing DC2 and putting him back in bed then I'm up for an hour.

@ASGIRC where are you?

@SurreyPsych I know a couple dads who did shared leave, not from as young but they are very good dads and dare I say more engaged in the daily and detailed stuff of their kids lives than most.

olderthanyouthink · 18/08/2023 12:17

@SlovenlyUnwedMother I LOVE your name 😂 congratulations

HelloMoon87 · 18/08/2023 12:30

@SurreyPsych shared leave sounds lovely, I found that after 6 weeks postpartum, dads really do a lot more, and learn so much that early on. Before 6 weeks, it's so hard for them to know what to do. How long was your previous mat leave if you have other kids? It'll be hard (I know because I had 3 months mat leave with my son), but needs must.

ASGIRC · 18/08/2023 12:36

@olderthanyouthink I'm in Portugal

theodora2146 · 18/08/2023 13:08

Jumping on this thread as I've just got a bfp and due 23rd April 😱

Few symptoms, sense of smell is on point lol! Sore breast and mild nausea! I've never really had nausea before so hopefully this is a good sign it's gonna stick this time 🥰

Frankos · 18/08/2023 13:11

@ASGIRC no withdrawal or anything I am thinking about the same timescale wise. I have a dating scan on Friday next week as I have a genetic condition and have to have some tests at 11 weeks. Feel like I will
be holding my breath until then.

@sugarplum33 oh yeah really in full whack of symptoms. Can’t stop thinking about prawn cocktail crisps either which I haven’t had in years! 😂 wild how quickly symptoms take hold
