Hello @Janeykat @missmae 💚 so nice to see you here

Olivia199 · 13/08/2023 11:59

@Baby3please - I'm sorry you've got some bleeding and absolutely understand the stress. I'm taking progesterone pesseries and a couple times I've bumped my cervix with it which has caused bleeding. Your cervix is so vascular at this point so I think it's fairly common to have a bit of blood after DTD.

Tagging here xx

Hey all!! Thank you for tagging @HelloMoon87.

im 13DPO and found out I was pregnant last 3 days ago!!

sugarplum33 · 13/08/2023 13:27

Congratulations @BlossomTree123 and @Janeykat :)

@Baby3please Wow you are on the other side of the world :) If your midwife has offered another blood test and it would reassure you, why not go for it. Sounds like you get much more attentive care over there!

SeasideSunshineSussex · 13/08/2023 15:10

Want to ask this sensitively as totally appreciate many have been through difficult journeys to get to this point and are so valid to feel anxious and want reassurance, but have a question around scans!

It seems (from this thread and countless podcasts/first trimester vlogs/influencers) that going for a scan before the traditional NHS 12 week is now extremely common - in fact I've not seen anyone say they are waiting until 12 weeks? Is this the new standard? Is it ever offered on the NHS or do people go private?

We a) can't really afford the private early scan and b) wouldn't have even thought of it if I hadn't seen almost everyone on here be booking one in.

sugarplum33 · 13/08/2023 15:33

@SeasideSunshineSussex I think private early scans are very common now but then so are things like very early testing and tracking test progression. You could argue all of them fuel anxiety really.

Some countries feature early scans as part of routine pregnancy care but you won't be offered a early scan on the NHS unless you've had previous pregnancy difficulties/loss or you're experiencing symptoms such as pain and bleeding.

If you particularly want one and can afford one then it can be good to break up the wait but you wouldn't be in any way unusual to not have one. You also have to remember that mumsnet isn't necessarily representative of real life and there will be plenty of women not engaging in forums and not having early scans etc. When you're on a forum where other people are having extra scans it can be more tempting to have one yourself, as you're finding.

Housenoob · 13/08/2023 15:34

Not saying I'm 'jealous' of anyone that has insomnia or is waking super early as obviously that's not fun. But I'm the total opposite, shattered once it hits 2pm, going to bed super early then waking normal time and feeling like I could sleep for another 24 hours and still not feel refreshed. Can't remember how long this lasted in my last pregnancy but I hope its not the entire first trimester!

Monday55 · 13/08/2023 15:38

Hi guys, joining in the thread. Got an unexpected bfp 3days ago, I wasn't tracking ovulation so I'm only going off the first day of my last period which is 10th July, therefore, due date should be mid-April.
I had just stopped breastfeeding and just recently got my periods, so was tracking to see how frequent my periods where.

This will be our 2nd baby, we have a 13months old girl. It's nice to get a bfp out the blue as we had to do IVF for our first one and I've had my fair share of miscarriages in the past.

Hope this little one sticks and looking forward to making this journey with you all x

SurreyPsych · 13/08/2023 17:58

Hi all, nice to see the thread so busy today! Big welcome to the new comers and congratulations.

@SeasideSunshineSussex I didn’t go for an early scan last time, but I’m preparing for some horrific meetings at work surrounding my mat leave request and my husband’s shared parental leave so we decided to go ahead and get a date asap.
I use the Flo app and according to LMP I’m 6wks 5 days today but I did an ovulation test on the day it’s suggesting I conceived and it negative, so even a few days either side would make a big difference to my work situation. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be getting one. I’d rather wait for the less invasive type 😁

Heads up for all suffering with nausea. I’ve been feeling sooooo rough lately, I tried travel sickness tablets today and it’s either working/ luck/ placebo but I’ll take it. Does say not to take during pregnancy on the leaflet but in a previous pregnancy a GP told me to get them, so worth getting advice first.

Olivia199 · 13/08/2023 18:26

@SurreyPsych - So glad it's helped for you. The GP has prescribed me cyclizine which is safe in pregnancy and something I relied on during my last pregnancy too. Absolutely worth getting for anyone suffering!

faban · 13/08/2023 18:29

@Baby3please I know it's a worrying time but I think this is really common. I haven't had sex yet as I'm abit scared... also cba 😂

@SeasideSunshineSussex my sister is due in Oct and didn't have a scan. I've already got mine booked in... irs just personal preference and they are expensive, I wasn't going to book one last month then I had a cp, this month I've got one booked in for 8 weeks but I'm feeling so impatient already!

Welcome to all the new joiners, congratulations! There's a fb group if you'd like to join

Sorry to hear about your miscarriages. Congratulations on your pregnant ❤️

DizzyM43 · 13/08/2023 19:04

Hi there congratulations everyone, can I join please? I'm older and did a clear blue test on Friday that said I'm
2-3 weeks hoping this one sticks x

Rainbow890 · 13/08/2023 19:54

Hi everyone. Congratulations to you all. I've been following this thread but never posted. I think i'm 5+5 but had chemical in June. So grateful for threads like these helping my anxiety. Pregnancy after loss is no fun! This will be my first and i'm just desperate to get reassurance things are going well.

Only symptoms are sore boobs/sensitive nipples and tiredness. I've never napped so much!! Also got that unsettled sleep a few of you have. No major aversions or cravings and no nausea 😬

Bugdem123 · 13/08/2023 20:30

@faban i was also really nervous about sex but was brave (lol) and we did it yesterday as I knew it would become “a thing” for me if I didn’t. No bleeding or cramping after and was actually nice to have sex without thinking about whether I was ovulating.

MLN89 · 13/08/2023 21:10

@CinderRosie another one in the crap sleep club here. I actually fall asleep fine and get back to sleep pretty quick. But I'm walking up 5+ times a night and it's exhausting! I had terrible pregnancy insomnia with my first but that didn't happen till the 3rd trimester and I was just wide awake half the night so this is very different.

@Giles1008 I honestly wouldn't stress too much about the clear blue. Like @sugarplum33 said the normal range is so vast that it's impossible for the test to really know unless you're bang average. If it helps my friend from my previous pregnancy group got 2-3 at 6 weeks with her current pregnancy and got super worried and upset. She's now 34 weeks with a perfectly healthy baby boy and her dates were right. The CB was wrong. If it'll make you feel better take another in a week but I wouldn't worry.

Congratulations and welcome @BlossomTree123 @Monday55 ❤️

@Housenoob you have my sympathy. It hasn't happened (yet) this time around but that's how my entire first trimester was with my daughter and it was honestly awful. I'm praying this time isn't the same as I honestly don't know how I'd cope having to be a parent when that exhausted 😭

Bluesky85 · 13/08/2023 22:42

@SeasideSunshineSussex I’m just going to wait until the NHS 12 week scan and just have faith that I am pregnant! If I’m not I guess I’ll find out then (or earlier). I think for me personally I’d rather not have the build up to extra dates where I need to be worried/ excited. Plus there is the money too. But everyone is different and I know many find extra scans reassuring x

Baby3please · 14/08/2023 01:46

@Janeykat welcome! Sorry to hear about your losses, hopefully a sticky baby this time!

@missmae I actually had some nausea first thing this morning and was struggling to make breakfast for DS. So that was fun. 🥴 I'm 5+4 today.

@Olivia199 yeah it was probably just my cervix getting irritated. 🤞 I'm telling myself to chill out about it.

@BlossomTree123 congratulations!

@sugarplum33 sure am! I'm feeling a bit more relaxed about it now so I'm not sure I'll bother with bloods. Or maybe I will. Oh I don't know haha. The level of care really depends on who your midwife is, luckily mine seems to be great so far. We don't have an EPU here so if you have bleeding etc in early pregnancy you're kind of just left to it. My first pregnancy ended in an early miscarriage and the midwife was terrible and all I got was a txt to say yeah sounds like a miscarriage go to the hospital if it gets really heavy and take a test in a weeks time.

@SeasideSunshineSussex in NZ you're only offered an early scan if there's good reason, like having irregular periods so not knowing how far along you are etc.

@Monday55 congratulations! What an exciting surprise!

@faban I was scared too because I was sure that would happen. Also yeah can't really be bothered most of the time, I'm knackered. 😂

@DizzyM43 congratulations!

@Rainbow890 congratulations! I feel ya with the tiredness, I want to nap every day!

Roxyroxy11 · 14/08/2023 06:25

Hi everyone

Joining as I got my digital bfp yesterday at 10dpo, EDD is the 25th April ❤️❤️❤️

Praying that this one sticks after an early miscarriage in April and a suspected chemical last cycle xxx

FingersCrossedXXX · 14/08/2023 07:23

Hello Everyone!

I'd love to join if that's okay! Been reading through some of the thread and seems like a nice supportive group to be a part of!

I got my bfp last Sunday and due around 18th April. I have a son already but have had 2 ectopic pregnancies in the last 12 months while trying for a second! I had a tube removed earlier this year and didn't expect to catch again so quickly but extremely lucky and pregnant again.

I have an early scan around 6 weeks due to previous losses. I need to call EPU to get booked in. Feeling much more positive about this one but obviously still checking the loo roll for blood every time I go the toilet! I can see there's several others here who have had losses which I am sorry to hear about but happy we are now all on this journey again!

Are people planning on finding out the sex? I think I will as I'm so impatient!

BlossomTree123 · 14/08/2023 07:43

@FingersCrossedXXX congratulations!!! I think I’m going to find out the sex this time, I’d like to experience finding out!

Congratulations! Sorry you've had such a stressful year!x

I'm not going to find out, I didn't with my daughter and loved the surprise and my husband telling me, but I am abit tempted this time just so I can sort out clothes etc. but I think I'll hold off!

Do you guys have any preference? Last time I really wanted a girl but I actually don't care at all this time. I'd absolutely love another girl and love my daughter to have a sister but also, my daughter is quite boisterous and she'd love a brother 😂 boys are so sweet that I'd love a boy too. It's such a nice feeling cos last time I did put quite a lot of pressure on myself to have a girl which is bonkers!

missmae · 14/08/2023 07:57

@Baby3please oh no 🙈 hopefully the nausea doesn’t get too bad for you!! I don’t feel sick this morning just super hungry!

@FingersCrossedXXX congratulations! Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough year. 💖 I definitely will, with my last I found out at exactly 14 weeks, wasn’t planning to i just wanted a scan but they offered the gender too and they didn’t even need to tell me. Was very clear it was a little boy 😂🥰I’ll probably do it at 14 weeks again 😂

I would really love a boy tbh.. since I lost the last one all I can think about is having another boy. If it’s a girl that’s fine too! But… boy please 🥺🩵everyone I know tells me I look more like a boy mum than I do girl. Whatever that means 🤣
