Just joining, due v end of Mar - second one for us. Thought it would take a while longer so was rather surprised 😀. So far experiencing mild nausea when I'm hungry!

BBno4 · 22/07/2023 08:01

I told my children yesterday!

My 8yd was very happy but my two boys 12 and 13 were not.

They think they will get no attention and the baby will change things, I even heard them discussing it amongst themselves in their room. Upset me a little bit but at least they are getting their feelings out.

Its a very big age gap for them.

Symptom wise, I am getting full and bloated so quick. After lunch I feel like I over ate when I haven't. I also fell asleep at work 😴
Putting the children to sleep in the sleep room, the exhaustion is real.

Is anyone calorie tracking? I have been going to the gym and weightlifting for a year now, I'm scared to give it all up and pile on the pounds. I put on a lot of weight with my second child and it was very hard to lose.

I'm currently 7+2 weeks pregnant. I was doing some baking last night and found my back felt a little achy after. Today I seem to have a pain at the top of my left buttocks, almost like nerve pain, and i cant do anything yo ease it?! Is this related to pregnancy/has anyone experienced similar this early on?

Sorry am panicking now as I did a post about this and someone has suggested it could be ectopic

Nmvasey85 · 22/07/2023 11:14

@Khanga27 your ligaments all soften up in pregnancy so you're more prone to strain and injury. I went to a festival last week and I was stood for hours, my leg was dodgy for a few days afterwards. Ectopic I'm sure you get pain in your shoulder blade.

That's what I thought too but this person replying has me so panicked to the point of me calling 111! I'm hoping it is just that I've pulled my back from too much standing.

Nmvasey85 · 22/07/2023 11:18

@Khanga27 why people say things like that is beyond me, as if it's not stressful enough already.

Me neither. They said was based on a friend's experience, but there's no context in terms of other symptoms etc to really put into context without sending panic.

Rang 111. They didn't seem to think was emergency and have a call back with clinician within 24 hours and advised to take pain relief in meantime. It actually doesn't feel bad enough for pain relief, it's just that it's a new area of ache that slightly concerned me.

LeopardLover · 22/07/2023 11:59

@Khanga27 Sorry you were spooked 😔 I had lots of pains like this with my last pregnancy but not this early. I do have tons of other cramps and pains going on though! At least if you get an extra scan at the EPU it'll just give you peace of mind. X

Khanga27 · 22/07/2023 12:03

@LeopardLover thanks. I haven't been offered this, just a call back from a clinician. I do think (hope) it's from standing and twisting too long when I was baking (including 2 lots of pastry making) last night for a party, after sitting at desk all day for work. Its not a bad pain, just feels a little bit like nerve-type pain. I did notice when I'd been standing too long last night my back was feeling achy so needed to sit.

LeopardLover · 22/07/2023 12:06

@Khanga27 they might offer you it, but it sounds like you've found the cause! You actually reminded me, last pregnancy I convinced myself I was having an ectopic because I had shoulder pain! Turns out it was because we'd had a new kitchen arrive the day before and I was lugging it all around 😅 it's such a fear though, it's what I'm most concerned about. Hope your feeling a little reassured x

Khanga27 · 22/07/2023 12:16

@LeopardLover thanks yes I am a little. Seeing post from @Nmvasey85 that they had similar from a festival has eased my mind a little. We have a private scan booked for next week at 8+2 so fingers crossed that goes okay and eases this panic about every little thing.

ScottishStardust · 22/07/2023 12:21

So I ended up at our EPU last night due to pain and my previous ectopic in 2018.
Eventually got a scan and they could se something in my uterus but couldn't confirm it was the pregnancy as no yolk sac could be seen! I'm only 5w 2-4 days so they said that could be normal but still have to treat it as a PUL :-( Had bloods taken and need to go back on Monday AM for more. From that they'll be able to determine roughly how far along I am, and then whether they should have seen or will see anything.

What a mind puzzler. I'm just trying to keep positive about that there is something in the uterus and hopefully just not as far along as I thought! Time will tell...

FinallyMrsT · 22/07/2023 12:35

Oo the symptoms started today. Felt some crappy nausea today. And no appetite. But it seems to be easing this afternoon.
I hope your OK @ScottishStardust @Khanga27 please keep us up to date.

LeopardLover · 22/07/2023 12:38

@ScottishStardust What a stressful experience that must've been! 😔 Sorry you're going through this - crossing my fingers it's just really early on (also, so easy to get dates wrong). Not long until Monday. Thinking of you Xx

LeopardLover · 22/07/2023 12:44

@Khanga27 Oh so pleased you have a scan booked in!

MrsHolder09 · 22/07/2023 13:11

Hi everyone
I'm Kelly and new to the group.
I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant and very anxious due to 4 previous miscarriages. I've had 2 private scans already and all was well so far - it's taken us 11 years to get pregnant again we had accepted that it wasn't meant to be and then 2 weeks ago we got the positive we had wanted - really nice to meet you all x

ScottishStardust · 22/07/2023 14:06

Thanks @LeopardLover and @FinallyMrsT - got a mind set of there isn't anything I can do and what'll be will be (hoping that my (pretend) chilled approach pays off!)

My cycles have been a bit varied over the last 6 months so hoping that! I just don't want it to be another ectopic and needs treated with medication as then we'd have to 3 months!

LeopardLover · 22/07/2023 14:11

@ScottishStardust This is a great approach to take! Crossing my fingers for you.

It seems it's relatively low risk to have a second, so hopefully it won't be that and it's just your dates - especially since you have irregular cycles. 💜X

krissy12 · 22/07/2023 14:48

@ScottishStardust have they offered you another scan if not I'm sure you could ask for one? I was at epu on Wednesday and it was too early to see a heart beat im 5 weeks to so they automatically booked me in for 2 weeks to look for growth and a heartbeat

With my first pregnancy I had awful pains in my back and tailbone. I was just told it was my body preparing for the pregnancy and not to worry. Now have a healthy little girl so try not to panic!

blodyn91 · 22/07/2023 17:51

@Khanga27 @Hiddenvoice I saw a pelvic health Specialist who was amazing and explained it all to me so well
Cause is hypertonic pelvic floors (so it’s all too tight) so the tight and pulls on the SI joint and instability round the pelvis

Cause of sharp pain in glutes/tail bone pain.
Its normal but also treatable! There are yoga poses that you should do all through pregnancy.
I experienced it so bad with my 1st I stopped running at 20weeks, experiencing it this time at 6weeks!!
So getting on the yoga

Are both of you quite active/fit? very common in athletes

I had it really bad with my first but was a regular in the gym then. This time around there’s a bit of back pain but much more manageable- I’ve not been to the gym for a long while with my 15 month old 😂

blodyn91 · 22/07/2023 19:32

@Hiddenvoice Im helping a friend train for a 50 milk walk, got a route planned for tomorrow, and really looking forward to a walk in the hills for a few hours with the dogs, toddler free. But my husband is telling ne not to go, because ill be in pain later on 😫 I know he is right, but then- pain is sometimes worth it 🫣
