Thank you @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @Meeting @Mummapenguin20

Good luck to anyone with scans over the next few days.
Hope those with nausea etc are feeling a bit better x

Mismatc · 21/07/2023 10:28

I had my second scan at EPU today following episodes of bleeding (but no bleeds since the last scan). I’ve been on lots of anti-emetics but in the last 24 hours those symptoms suddenly stopped and I haven’t needed to take any.

I was 6+5 10 days ago and it has grown to 7+6. However, the sac is a bit smaller then expected and my symptoms have suddenly stopped so I’m going back again in 10 days for another scan.

I feel a bit nothing and like it’s just a waiting game, what will be will be and I can’t control it. My partner does not appear to be coping well, not sure how best to support him.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/07/2023 10:52

@Mismatc I'm really sorry you're in limbo following this latest scan, and so sorry you're having to wait another ten days. Hopefully the symptoms mean nothing, as you've had growth. I've been there before and waiting on the scans is horrible. Sending hugs

MrsC2711 · 21/07/2023 12:27

@Mismatc so sorry to hear you’re in limbo. I had a scan two days apart. And the first one said I was seven weeks and the one 2 days later said 6+5…… please try to think positive as they are literally dealing with millimetres in these measurements. What they measure on one scan they might get different on the next x sending positive thoughts x

Meeting · 21/07/2023 12:41

@Mismatc sorry you're experiencing uncertainty. If it's of any help my symptoms are always coming and going. Your partner is entitled to be upset but he should be supporting you through this, not the other way around x

Nemo145 · 21/07/2023 13:38

@Mismatc Sorry to hear about the uncertainty. When I went to EPU she said anything within 5 days growth either way is “normal” especially if you’re scanned a number of times early on.
As @MrsC2711 said they are so tiny and depending on position they could be a mm or so out and each mm is a days growth.

DmcinT · 21/07/2023 13:55

@Mismatc im sorry ur in a bit of limbo but it does sound positive that its grown by roughly the correct amount. Were they able to see a heartbeat and all? I know at my scan they took a few different measurements of CRL and had 3 different sizes all within days of each other, she explained how difficult it is to get an exact measurement with them wriggling & bouncing about❤️ I’m very hopeful everything is good for u xxx

Clomid1 · 21/07/2023 17:13

I’m in two minds about getting an early scan. I want one so I know that the baby is okay because I don’t want to find out at 12 weeks but at the same time I don’t want to pay £90 when I know that if a scan goes well now it doesn’t necessarily mean I am definitely out of the woods. What do you guys think? Is anyone else waiting for the nhs one at 12 weeks?

DmcinT · 21/07/2023 17:29

I had a scan today at 10 weeks and omg it was so amazing to see them jumping and bouncing around. The sonographer let us listen to the heartbeat too which was so amazing🥰 I was terrified, didn’t sleep a wink last night, just had myself convinced there’d be no heartbeat. It has really reassured me so I’d deff recommend it if u can @Clomid1 , how far along are u now if u were to wait for 12 week scan?

I think it’s such a double-edged sword! My early scan revealed 2 issues that now worry me so much I just feel anxious all the time and want to scan every week! On the other hand, I’m now prepared for the worst, which I think I’d prefer to having a total shock at 12 weeks. Tough call x

Wise0wl · 21/07/2023 18:08

Checking in to say that unfortunately at my early scan today, it turns out I’ve had a MMC. Baby had no heartbeat, and stopped growing at 7+4 (should be 10+2). A bit of a shock but I’m glad I know now rather than at my 12 week scan, after which I was planning to start telling everyone. I’ve had no bleeding and still feel pregnant (sore boobs, nausea from time to time, fatigue) so if anyone has had the misfortune to experience this and can tell me what you did next, I’d really appreciate it.

Wishing you all the very very best luck for your pregnancies, I am off to have a big glass of wine. Xx

Bali200 · 21/07/2023 18:13

@Wise0wl so sorry to hear this, what heartbreaking news, life really isn’t fair. Sending lots of love ❤️

User0224 · 21/07/2023 18:16

I’m so sorry Wise0wl. Thinking of you x

Musicalitymum · 21/07/2023 18:22

Really sorry to hear that @Wise0wl hope you enjoy that glass of wine. I’m ten weeks today. Waiting for the twelve week scan x

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/07/2023 19:04

@Wise0wl I'm so so sorry. What an awful shock. I wasn't ten weeks along, but I chose to wait a bit and see if it managed naturally. In hindsight I'm not sure it was the right thing to do because it took maybe ten days to two weeks and I was constantly worried it'd happen at work, on way to work etc. So needless stress. And still had to go back to hospital anyway to check no retained products etc.

Ebonythoughts · 21/07/2023 19:07

Hi all,

Went to EPU this afternoon for a scan following my 3rd bleed this pregnancy. Thankfully baby is ok and bouncing around with a strong heartbeat. But they said I still have a haematoma and I have a low lying placenta so may bleed again and they’re going to monitor it. Relieved but still some uncertainty.

Has anyone else been told they have a low lying placenta?

I have my dating scan booked for 31st July ❤️

Hankthehonk · 21/07/2023 19:33

@Wise0wl I'm so sorry you are going through this. There is a whole miscarriage/pregnancy loss section on mumsnet which helped me when I had my loss earlier this year. I did not have a missed miscarriage like you, mine started spontaneously after a positive scan, but lots of others have been where you are and can I'm sure share their stories. Sending strength x

Golaz · 21/07/2023 20:36

@Wise0wl im so sorry to hear about your news 😔, it’s so cruel finding out that way. I had a MMC at 12 weeks, baby had stopped growing at 10.5. I opted straight for a surgical procedure as I had had no bleeding, I didn’t want to wait, I was worried about the process/ pain of passing the feotus naturally and I was told that even if I did wait and bleed naturally , I might end up needing a procedure anyway if it didn’t all “complete” properly, which can be common. I have to say I felt I made the right decision for me, my procedure was booked for two days later. I was asleep through the process. Although I bled afterwards there was no pain. Wishing you all the best for whatever you decide 💕

Foreverhoping33 · 21/07/2023 20:45

@Wise0wl im so sorry to hear your update. I hope you are doing ok and being cared for!

I had a mmc in January, caught at 7 week scan so earlier than yours. I tried to wait for it to happen naturally but after 10 days with nothing happening at all I instead opted for the surgical management. I called my EPU for a scan to confirm mmc and then was booked in for appointment the next day. It was all very quick and I didn’t have any pain afterwards either. I actually felt a lot of relief for it all then to be done. It took another 2 weeks from then to test negative. if I had another mmc I think I would go surgical route right away again.

sending lots and lots of love. Such a tough time so be kind to yourself. Xxxx

DiscoBallEmoji · 21/07/2023 20:48

@Wise0wl thinking of you, I’m so sorry 🌹

Ebonythoughts · 21/07/2023 20:58

@Wise0wl I’m so sorry for your loss.

Un7breakable · 21/07/2023 21:07

@Wise0wl so sorry to hear this

Mangotango39 · 21/07/2023 23:07

@Wise0wl I am so sorry to hear this. It is so cruel 😔
Personally I chose d&c for my MMC as I had no prior signs and therefore no clue how long it would take naturally. I found it easier to move on this way as I knew straight away it all removed correctly and fully complete. They were lovely at the hospital during.

It's personal preference though.

DmcinT · 21/07/2023 23:29

@Wise0wl I’m so so sorry to hear this, I had a MMC in March at 11 weeks, it’s heartbreaking, be kind to yourself, it’s a lot to process. I chose a D&C as there was no sign of it naturally passing. The procedure was very straight forward, no pain, you wake up and it’s all over💔 I bled for 4/5 days after but it’s a straight forward procedure. Sending so much love and hugs to you this evening xxx ❤️
