@Cheetocat thats lovely to hear thank you. I am very very excited for him to become a big brother 😍

Meeting · 19/07/2023 09:02

Thank you @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that makes me feel a lot better!

Musicalitymum · 19/07/2023 09:46

I can’t imagine how hard it is for all you people out at work. I’m so glad I work mainly from home as an instrumental teacher. I have to go out some Saturdays to play at weddings and have coped so far. I’m 9+5 now and having been feeling better for a few days.

MrsW9 · 19/07/2023 10:08

@Meeting I've been having one cup (or occasionally two) of caffeinated tea most days. My understanding is that that is well within the limits. I quite like decaf coffee but less keen on decaf tea.

CrazyRosa · 19/07/2023 10:14

I would recommend everyone get a squatty potty, literally my favourite thing in the house 😄 along with some caffeine and Bran Flakes. So glamorous...

MrsC2711 · 19/07/2023 10:22

@CrazyRosa …. Off to Google a squatty potty 😂

User0224 · 19/07/2023 10:49

Urgh so much anxiety this pregnancy it’s driving me mad! From the borderline low heart rate to the large haemorrhage they found I’m just desperate for updates! Also feeling crampy today which is setting me off. But don’t want to have too many scans :( blergh

Haha oh god and the wind currently. It is glamour all around here

Mangotango39 · 19/07/2023 11:27

@Meeting I am having two cups of Yorkshire a day - I think it's within limits and I space them out!
Gone off coffee!!!

Kelb79 · 19/07/2023 12:19

Hey everyone!
i had my absolute worst day yesterday 😵‍💫 I’m so desperate for this nausea to be over!! I run a seafood tapas restaurant so you can imagine the smells!! 🫣🫣
I ended up crying at work yesterday I felt so bad! Tried to get an early night but had an evil headache so couldn’t sleep…
then, to top it all off, the cat threw up on my bed at 3am!! Cue me legging it to the toilet and throwing up! And the cat running up next to me to make sure I was ok 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️🤣
roll on 12 weeks!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I’ve been trying travel sickness wrist bands but I think they might make me feel worse… 🤔 anyone else find that???

Mangotango39 · 19/07/2023 12:53

@Kelb79 oh no!!! A seafood restaurant ! That is so tough!!!!!!
you poor thing I hope it eases for you.

have you spoke to your doc about anti sickness meds?

Cxjai792 · 19/07/2023 13:03

Hey, can I join this thread please?🤗
I'm not sure how far along I am, roughly 10weeks with 3rd baby but I see this thread and wanted to join as it can get lonely being pregnant!
Will go back and read through!

Strawberry06 · 19/07/2023 13:06

Welcome @Cxjai792

How have you been feeling?

Cxjai792 · 19/07/2023 13:12

Thank you @Strawberry06
Been quite rough with sickness and feeling absolutely shattered! How have you been?

Has anyone else’s employees been harsh about time off during pregnancy. My manager yesterday told me if I have too many absences he can force my mat leave to start at 20weeks…not sure show that works seeing as you need a matb1🤷🏻‍♀️feel like he was trying to frighten me into not taking time off. I’ve been off twice so far and had a doctors note for it. Tried to question him on this but he told me apparently businesses can do this and are protected too. It just sounds like a load of rubbish to me😟

Kelb79 · 19/07/2023 13:25

@Mangotango39 it’s definitely not fun!! 🤣🫣
I haven’t talked to my GP yet as it’s just been nausea so I didn’t think they’d be able to help…. But I’m starting to actually be sick more often this last few days so I’m definitely thinking about it now!!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 19/07/2023 13:28

@Kelb79 that does sound so tough! Poor you.

Welcome @Cxjai792. Wow two days off isn't too many, that seems harsh.

Cxjai792 · 19/07/2023 13:28

@Strawberry06 thanks for that! Honestly pregnancy is stressful enough without having a manager trying to scare you into not taking time off! My sister works for the same company and is currently on may leave. She had never heard this! And this is my third pregnancy working for them and I have never heard it either.

Mummapenguin20 · 19/07/2023 13:29

I’m sure it’s 35 weeks they can force mat leave. Although my last pregnancy was during covid and I started mar leave at 28 weeks for my own sainity (care worker)

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through that, your employer is completely wrong. Keep a note of these incidents with dates and times in case you ever need it because they should not be being this difficult.

The earlier you personally can choose to start maternity leave is 11 weeks before your due date. They can’t make you. The earliest that you could be “made” to go on maternity leave is if you had a pregnancy related illness in the last four weeks before your due date which would trigger your maternity leave. However any illness, you could just say was not relevant!

Hope you’re okay

Cxjai792 · 19/07/2023 13:36

Thank you ladies💕
I’m okay, but you know how it is when your so hormonal and really trying not to cry when someone’s being a dick!

DmcinT · 19/07/2023 13:39

@Cxjai792 aw I’m sorry to hear your manager is being like this, no one needs that extra stress or pressure, hope ur doing ok❤️ And welcome along🙂

@Kelb79 working in a seafood restaurant is possibly one of the toughest jobs at the min, u poor thing. Really hope ur having a better day today.

i am trying to convince myself to go for a walk here 🤢🙈 literally all I want to do is sleep 😴

C1E · 19/07/2023 13:41

Gosh there really seem to be some employer horror stories creeping up here with sickness and probation. Make sure you’re part of a union if relevant to your line of work and escalate to HR when these things are mentioned. I was considering leaving my union but defo staying put!

My sister works in recruitment and once had a lady conceal her pregnancy at interview, get offered a permanent job and then they said no thanks when they found on. But she got a big pay out for discrimination so there’s always people to fight your corner

Hankthehonk · 19/07/2023 14:30

@Cxjai792 congratulations and welcome to the thread. Your employer is wrong and out of line. Pregnancy is a protected characteristic and you have rights. I agree with pp who suggested keeping a record of these things.
I'd recommend checking out pregnant then screwed for advice and support.

Cxjai792 · 19/07/2023 15:38

Thank you for all the help! Really appreciate it. Going to keep a log of it all, have contacted hr too so will shove their reply in his face. Thankfully he’s moving on after Christmas so won’t have to deal with him anymore
