@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thank you. At my first private scan (7 weeks) they saw a SC Haemotoma but when I went for the second private scan last week they said it had shrunk and was so small it was nothing to worry about. Fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about x

anony1111 · 18/07/2023 17:13

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes, I felt better for a few days and feel like I've been run over by a lorry today 😫 I've been in bed all day! Everything is making me gag and brushing my teeth is awful too!
I just want to feel "normal" again and be able to eat and drink properly.
I'm 9+6 today and praying the nausea ends soon!
I hope you feel a bit better soon too x

sherbertlemon17 · 18/07/2023 17:49

@DmcinT Teacher here too and I can confirm teaching in the first trimester is hell! A lot of deep breathing through nausea and “throat sweets” in lessons to try and get the taste out of my mouth because I can’t leave to be sick. Everyone thinks I’ve been ill for about 4 weeks 🤣 On the plus side, at least the day goes quickly because you’re so busy- although I definitely need to move to a school where the summer holidays start in May!

@MrsC2711 How old is your son? I remember feeling really guilty when I had my second, but although they annoy each other and squabble, they are beat of friends. Your DS will be amazing ❤

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/07/2023 17:59

Thanks @anony1111 not fun to be joining this club, hope you feel a lot better soon too!

@sherbertlemon17 wow well done for getting through that. I'm seriously so grateful I can work from home half the week

Mismatc · 18/07/2023 18:03

I’ve been off work for a few weeks and am only 7+5, I don’t know when I’ll be well enough to go back. Hats off to those of you working through feeling so unwell. I’m on three antiemetics and spend all of my time lying down!

DmcinT · 18/07/2023 19:04

@sherbertlemon17 absolutely, come to Ireland, we’re crying out for teachers 🎉🙌🏽🙂 do u think anyone in ur work suspects? When will u finish now for summer?

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I deff know how lucky I am this time around, my last pregnancy I was so so sick, I’d be heaving into a bin at my desk & couldn’t leave until break time or a free period, it was pretty grim🙈

@anony1111 and @Mismatc im so sorry ur so sick also, it’s just the pits isn’t it. Have u both been puking? My problem is I’m just so nauseous and can’t stop retching but I’m not actually being sick.

CrazyRosa · 18/07/2023 19:47

@DmcinT Where in Ireland are you? CUMH are running really behind for 12 week scans, looking to be more.like 14/15 week scans. Hopefully the delays aren't too bad where you are!

The sickness and nausea is the worst, hopefully everyone starts to feel better soon.

Sorry to see all the news of the upsetting scans, I won't tag anyone but I'm thinking of ye xx

sherbertlemon17 · 18/07/2023 19:57

@DmcinTThat’s very tempting! We’re massively struggling for teachers in England too. Gone are the days when you’d turn up on interview day and there would be 12 of you vying for the same job!

I’ve told my HOD and Head of College just because if I’ve needed a hand, they’re the people who’d be able to help. Apart from that, I don’t think anyone else suspects. I had to make excuses and not go to my department’s end of year bottomless brunch we’d organised, I just couldn’t face it but have had massive fomo ever since 😣

Are you primary or secondary?

Strawberry06 · 18/07/2023 14:27

@LalalaBubs @Meeting @Sunshineclouds11 Do you have Badger Notes? I don't know what its like where you are but my date for scan was on there the day after I had my booking in appointment. Had I not been looking I wouldn't have known until I received the letter some time later!

Yeah I've been checking all the time incase haha!
I think it's my hospital tbh, I only got the letter a week before with my first

LalalaBubs · 18/07/2023 20:51

Just out of interest, are any of the Scottish mamas on here going to be going to Princess Royal Maternity in Glasgow?

Hrps · 18/07/2023 20:54

I had my NIPT blood test done today and they did a little 5 minute scan. Baby is measuring 11 weeks which is just bit ahead. I'd got myself worked up into such a stew that something had happened it was such a relief to see a little heartbeat 💓 Going back for the proper scan that comes with my NIPT package in two weeks time as my womb was so tilted backwards she wouldn't be able to do the nucal fold measurement properly next week as my womb will still be so far back. It's quite nice really that I'll get to see them every week for 3 weeks with the private and the NHS 12 week scan. Hopefully that calms the nerves a little!

Hankthehonk · 18/07/2023 20:56

@LalalaBubs I'm in Ayrshire now so will be giving birth at Crosshouse but I had my daughter at Princess Royal in July 2020! We lived in Glasgow then. So I might be able to answer questions if you have them, although things were different in the dark covid days.

LalalaBubs · 18/07/2023 21:00

@Hankthehonk I had my daughter in Feb 2020 and son in Nov 2021 both in PRM, was just having a wee nosey🤣 to see if I might bump into anyone at an appointment or even later down the line when we deliver!

My daughter was right before the covid lockdowns, I cant imagine what it was like delivering in hospital during those crazy times!😭

Hankthehonk · 18/07/2023 21:06

@LalalaBubs Hope you find some PRM pals! It's quite unlikely anyone else on here is down my way, it's a much smaller hospital.
I spent half my pregnancy terrified that my husband wouldn't be able to be there for the birth or allowed to visit (he couldn't come to any appointments with me) but the rules relaxed a bit just a couple of weeks before my daughter was born. It was tough but I was so relieved to have him there that nothing else mattered. He was only allowed to visit for half an hour a day and the partners all had to book in their slots in advance so they were staggered.
This is not necessarily a popular opinion but I was actually quite glad that nobody else had the option to visit in hospital. Those early days were tough and I didn't want to deal with anyone besides my DH, and it also meant the ward wasn't full of other people's visitors, mostly just the mums and babies.

MrsC2711 · 18/07/2023 21:11

@sherbertlemon17 hes 8….. will be 9 when this one comes along 😍

LalalaBubs · 18/07/2023 21:12

@Hankthehonk
So glad you were able to have him with you! And yes you're absolutely right, I think even now I would get a lot of peace of mind knowing that I wasn't going to have visitors in hospital

Cheetocat · 18/07/2023 21:16

It's so interesting to see how pregnancy is handled in different countries. I live in the south of Europe now. I found out I was pregnant on the 14th of June, emailed my gp and told her, had an appointment scheduled by the next day for 26th of June. At that appointment I did a urine pregnancy test and got a prescription for blood tests, got all my GP visits for the pregnancy scheduled and also got the date for the finger pick for trisomies and a date for an 11 week scan. They also gave me a waver for free health care for a year and three dentist visits, I didn't apply for it and it's not means tested or anything. To be honest I find it quite crazy, so different from Ireland.

Cheetocat · 18/07/2023 21:18

I think an age gap of 8 or 9 years between kids is so beautiful. I became an aunt at age ten and was just smitten with the baby, we're still very close at 20 and 30. I bet a sibling relationship with that gap is just as special!

DmcinT · 18/07/2023 21:21

@CrazyRosa I’m up the very north of Ireland, I got my scan dates a couple of weeks ago but because of recent MMC I’ve had a few reassurance scans already🥰

@sherbertlemon17 its crazy how hard it is to get teachers, we had one member of our department leave this year and only 1 person applied (& got it) so I’m a bit nervous about telling them. I teach secondary and a scarcity but compulsory subject so hope I’m not leaving them stuck🙈 great u were able to tell a few in your department for that bit of extra support.

my dinner had peas in it this evening so I’ve discovered peas are a big no no 🤢🤢🤢

Nemo145 · 18/07/2023 21:25

@DmcinT I’m on progesterone but it’s not made me sleepy, I wish it did! I keep having insomnia but some of that could be anxiety related!

KittyKat1989 · 18/07/2023 21:54

I had my dating scan today. I am 12 weeks today based on LMP but I knew I ovulated a few days late. They couldn’t get the measurements because of baby’s position and/or size. We did see a heart beat and baby bouncing around, but I’m super stressed now I have to wait for a re-scan. They wouldn’t give me any indication of how the measurements that they did manage to get looked. I just feel like something is wrong. It’s going to be a long week 😪

Cheetocat · 18/07/2023 23:29

@KittyKat1989 That sounds really stressful, I had similar happen at an early scan last week, they just couldn't get a good view or measurement, just a glance and baby with a little heart beating away. Hope you get your re-scan really soon. I'm back in on Monday for another look.

Wishaw General for us.

I didn’t know that hospital was still open, I thought it was Queen Elizabeth now in my ignorance.

Meeting · 19/07/2023 08:17

Morning all, is it alright if I have one cup of tea a day? I have switched to decaff since finding out but still struggling with constipation. Yesterday I was in agony and had a normal cup of Yorkshire tea and the caffeine really helped things. Really worried as I know you're not supposed to have caffeine but it's the only thing up to now that's worked!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 19/07/2023 08:38

@DmcinT wow that sounds awful! I'm guessing the children aren't too sympathetic either.

@Meeting yes of course. You're allowed 200mg of caffeine a day. Im a coffee drinker and that's two coffees (not strong espresso based ones) a day. I just googled and black tea had roughly 50mg per 8 oz cup.

I sadly can't stomach a coffee yet, but try to force one down every now and again to help with constipation
