Lovely to hear about positive scans! I have mine later this week (8 weeks). @AllAboardTootToot I only have one ovary but have been having discomfort on the side where there isn’t one! I think our bodies play tricks on us or it’s just generally everything stretching and pulling (in my case it may be scar tissue).

Thank you. Think our worries are just heightened right now, every little twinge I panic and no chance am I googling it, will be booking myself in for all sorts then 😂

Ebonythoughts · 18/07/2023 10:57

Hi all,

I had some bleeding this morning with clots and it has me in a real panic. I’ve left a message for my midwife and waiting to hear back. I don’t have any pain but the clots in the blood really scared me. I’m 10+6 weeks and had a little bleeding at the beginning but that was only when I wiped and lasted 24 hours. Has anyone else had bleeding with clots?

That's such wonderful news @Mangotango39 congratulations to you and @MummyTo4BoysXXXX x

I'm getting a bit concerned now as I'm 10+2 and had my first midwife appt over a week ago and haven't received anything to tell me when my 12 week scan will be, is that normal?

Yeah I'm still waiting for my letter and I'm over 10 weeks also.
Have between 12-14 weeks to be scanned, with my first I got my letter a week before

Meeting · 18/07/2023 11:20

Thanks @Sunshineclouds11 that makes me feel a lot better!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/07/2023 11:45

@Ebonythoughts I hope the midwife gets back to you quickly. I haven't but a friend did, and it was all okay. However she was very stressed seeing the blood.

DmcinT · 18/07/2023 11:50

Anyone else on progesterone just sleeping constantly? I go to bed around 9/10 & get up abt 10/11 in morning… I go back for a nap an hr later and sleep 2 hrs then a second nap in the afternoon for another 1-2 hrs🙈 I just can’t keep my eyes open, I think it must be the progesterone. Like I’m sleeping about 16 hrs of a 24 hr day everyday and just feel so awful all the time 😔😕

Mangotango39 · 18/07/2023 12:07

@Ebonythoughts I have had lots of spotting and one day had clots - they have just scanned me today and no issues at all. The gynaecologist said it just happens to some and no real reason .
have you had a previous scan?
hopefully the midwife will book you for a reassurance one because of the bleed xx

MrsC2711 · 18/07/2023 12:49

Afternoon lovelies!
had the nhs scan today they are measuring baby smaller that private scan on Sunday but. It’s literally a mm a week atm isn’t it so I’m not stressing! They are happy and have basically discharged me from epu now so I will get another around 10 weeks because my nerves just cannot cope waiting four weeks lol! Hats off to you ladies who’ve gone to 12 weeks!!

QQ to the ones with other children. How/when are you telling them? My 8yo is such a mummies boy and literally wants to lay on top of me for cuddles but then on the other hand wants to kick balls straight at me while I stand in goal….. so I’m not quite the ‘fun mum’ I was a couple of months ago. My cyst is causing me some pain so I am just blaming that atm but I honestly can’t wait to tell him.
he goes away with his dad in two weeks for two weeks so should take me up to my 12 week scan so I’m going to hold out until then but the urge to just tell him is real 😂😂. He’s football mad so we’ve ordered him a football kit with big brother 1 on the back to tell the news ❤️
x

Goblet93 · 17/07/2023 18:37

That’s my worry too! Do you have any plans on when you might tell them? It’s so hard to know what to do for the best

Tbh my current thinking is to leave it until I absolutely have to tell them at 25 weeks 😬😬. Do you think that’s a bad idea? I really want to “establish” myself in the org first and at least get through my 3 month review (my probation is 6 months 🙈 so no hope of passing that first).

Golaz · 18/07/2023 12:59

Congratulations @Mangotango39 💕💕🥳

Ebonythoughts · 18/07/2023 13:12

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @Mangotango39 thank you. I had a scan a week ago that was ok but I know anything can change in the space of a week.

Midwife said to go to A&E if it gets worse because EPU aren’t answering the phone. I’m trying to reassure myself with the fact I have no pain and still have nausea.

I can only pray for the best.

We’re going to tell the kids after our scan on Tuesday. As long as everything is OK, I’m going to do them a little scavenger hunt with the scan pictures as the last clue.

My kids are going to be so so excited but I am worried about jealousy from my youngest when the baby arrives 🙈

How do you all think your kids are going to take the news?

I don’t think that’s bad, it’s totally your choice! If I can wait that long I would too, but I think I’m going to show earlier than my last pregnancy haha. I think that’s really sensible to be honest, you need to secure your future with them in the best way possible. As much as it’s against the law, pregnant women do get discriminated against but it’s not always obvious

Mangotango39 · 18/07/2023 13:22

@Ebonythoughts it's tough seeing blood. My mind always goes into automatic panic it's horrible!! And natural I think .

The way these put it to me today was that lots of woman experience all sorts of bleeds in the first trimester and go on to have healthy pregnancies with no issues. Lots of woman have no blood at all and unfortunate miscarriage (like my last pregnancy) . Blood isn't always bad at all and very positive having no cramping . I'm thinking so many positive thoughts for you x

MrsC2711 · 18/07/2023 13:33

@Golaz i think it’s perfectly ok to wait until 25 weeks if you can (bump dependant lol!) and it’s not even sneaky in terms of passing your probation as that’s 6 months like you say. I reckon just say you found out late. get yourself established and irreplaceable 😉

@sherbertlemon17 ive lost track of dates sorry, will that be your 12 week scan next week? I feel guilty as I’ve always said my little one would be my one and only and then met my hubby and he is desperate for child so my views changed. He will be over the moon but I have the worry he might feel left out when it arrives but hoping to get him hands on and involved as much as possible. He will make the best big brother 😍

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/07/2023 13:38

@DmcinT are you off work? I'm so jealous! I'm working from home as often as I can, interspersed with random holiday days. I'm not on progesterone but I'm so tired all of the time, and often going to bed after putting down my toddler at half 7.

@Ebonythoughts it's awful seeing blood but if you have no cramps and still feel v sick, it's seeming positive. Can you leave a message for EPU or book a private scan? Had the bleeding stopped now?

@Golaz I'd be inclined to leave it as long as you can! I didn't say til about 17 weeks with my first and I'd worked there years. Will try to get that far with this pregnancy but see how I go.

Has anyone had a few days break from feeling terrible, and then it's all come back so much worse? I was hoping placenta was taking over at ten weeks and that's why I felt better but now I've been so ill the last two days. Can barely eat, thinking of eating or moving makes me gag, and brushing my teeth is awful. Don't know how I'll be able to get the train tomorrow like this and then sit in the office, miles from the loo

Strawberry06 · 18/07/2023 13:54

I'm so sorry to all the ladies experiencing sickness and exhaustion and not being able to function properly. It sounds really awful. I've felt completely fine the whole time. Not had any aversions and my appetite is bigger than ever! Not sure whether its a good or bad sign tbh, still hanging out here at 11 weeks (scan is next Friday)

The only symptoms I've had are bloating and sore nipples. But when I don't wear a bra (like this weekend) even they are fine.

I might feel more tired but I'm not sleeping great so putting it down more to that.

LavenderSweetPea · 18/07/2023 14:13

@Ebonythoughts I had a significant bleed last week (at around 9 weeks) that started bright red, and then went to dark red with loads of clots and a small amount of cramping. It was very scary, I assumed it was a miscarriage, EPU scanned me the following day and said everything was fine and they couldn't find where the bleeding was coming from, and a day later the bleeding stopped (although still having some brown discharge and spotting). I'm sorry you're having the same. Hopefully it's nothing, particularly if you aren't cramping.

LalalaBubs · 18/07/2023 14:20

@Meeting @Sunshineclouds11 Also in the same boat 10+4 and no date for 12wk scan either😔

Strawberry06 · 18/07/2023 14:27

@LalalaBubs @Meeting @Sunshineclouds11 Do you have Badger Notes? I don't know what its like where you are but my date for scan was on there the day after I had my booking in appointment. Had I not been looking I wouldn't have known until I received the letter some time later!

Meeting · 18/07/2023 14:31

Fingers crossed we all get them soon @LalalaBubs x

I haven't heard of badger notes so I'm assuming I don't have it! @Strawberry06 my midwife said in my appointment that I'd get a letter in the post x

LalalaBubs · 18/07/2023 14:33

@Strawberry06 I just quickly checked my app and nothing there unfortunately. But thanks for letting us know that, I'll defs keep checking there too😊

DmcinT · 18/07/2023 14:47

@Ebonythoughts i hope ur doing ok, I can’t imagine the worry of seeing blood but as so many have experienced it here and everything has been perfect I’m really hoping the same for u❤️

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’m a teacher, we start our summer holidays in May and term doesn’t start again until Sept so I’ve been off for all of this pregnancy so far, I’ll be nearly 16 weeks when we go back so it’s been such a blessing, I honestly don’t know how I’d function having to teach all day at the min. My doctor rang and my progesterone is on the high side so she’s reducing my dose which I’m just so delighted about, I can’t wait to feel somewhat normal and not like I’ve been sedated constantly 🙈
Do u have to go into the office on certain days? Is there anyway you could get wfh for a few weeks?

i have my 12 week scan at 13 weeks and my midwife/booking in appointment the week after at 14 weeks, thought it was a bit weird to have that afterwards but it might just be the way they do it here. I’m in Ireland btw 👋🏽

Ebonythoughts · 18/07/2023 15:06

Thank you all. Still no answer from EPU but the bleeding is a bit lighter now so I’m praying it stops by itself. I had a reassurance scan last week and really don’t want another one private so soon after but I’ve only just had my booking appointment yesterday and I don’t think I’ll get confirmation of my first scan for another 2/3 weeks. I know some people go for frequent private scans for peace of mind but I’m also worried that scanning too often will just make my anxiety worse so I’m trying to hold off for now.

If the bleeding continues by this evening I’ll ask my husband to take me to A &E but if it stops I think I will just hold my breath, pray and wait for the scan. It will be longest 2/3 weeks of my life x

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/07/2023 15:23

@Ebonythoughts I'm so glad the bleeding is slower, and please hoping that continues. I know what you mean about just waiting as well. There's a limit to how many scans etc will help. When I had some spotting in my last pregnancy, they said implantation bleeding. I thought that was crazy as it was weeks after when you'd expect it to be. But they said that when the placenta is forming (around ten weeks on average) it can cause some bleeding as it embeds in further.

@DmcinT I'm even more jealous, what perfect timing! Teaching would be awful feeling rough, on your feet all day, and not able to hide in the loo when feeling terrible. I have to go in 3 days a week, but I've been reducing it down with a day or twos holiday a week. Then still sending my son to nursery and getting chores done and resting where possible. Good luck on reducing the progesterone and hope you start to feel better
