Has anyone else got a UTI? My urine analysis from my booking appointment has come back and they've said I've a raging UTI, have got antibiotics, but I'm so worried. On top of that, after going through 10 miscarriages and finally getting to 8 weeks with no spotting, I was few rather smug, only to discover that even if I have miscarried, my progesterone supplements will probably mask any bleeding anyway :( was also meant to have a rescan within 2 weeks after an inconclusive scan at my RMC, but they now can't see me until the 31st! So a very worrying time.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/07/2023 08:17

@Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly do you have any symptoms of a UTI? So sorry to hear about your miscarriages. Is there a chance you can get a private scan? They're about £60 here. Waiting over two weeks for one sounds a lot

LavenderSweetPea · 15/07/2023 09:21

@Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly sorry to hear you have to wait so long for a scan, it's so stressful waiting.

If it helps at all, I am also on progesterone and although it can increase the chance of miscarrying without bleeding, it's by no means the most likely thing to happen. My experience is with a previous unsuccessful pregnancy was I bled anyway, I've also bled a lot this pregnancy although scans so far have been fine. If you're not bleeding I'd take it as a very good sign.

@permanentlyshattered1 congratulations lovely! Do twins run in the family?

I think ours are MCDA as they share a placenta but she could see a thin membrane between them but I’ve been referred so they can confirm what type they are. It’s so overwhelming.

I think we will be Jan too now, I’ll get my date in a couple of weeks as was too early last week and they said for MCDA it’ll likely be 35-37 week delivery depending on growth which seems so soon!

how are you getting on? Tiredness calmed down? I can’t believe the exhaustion!

No twins that we know of in the family so definitely was a shock. Hopefully yours have separate sacs so it's a wee bit safer. I thought the tiredness was getting a bit better now that I'm on iron tablets but I still feel so tired. Also if I'm on my feet for too long or doing too much then the bottom of my back is quite sore. Similar to last time except much earlier. I also feel like I'm showing loads for 11 weeks 🙈

Danni33 · 15/07/2023 09:50

@Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly I had a UTI about 3 weeks ago now, I was prescribed antibiotics which I was hesitant to take but I finished the course and I’m glad I did. Have you got any symptoms of a UTI? I just felt like I could not empty myself and I was going even more. I bought myself the test strips to check it it was and done one at the end of the antibiotic course and it has gone

Cheetocat · 15/07/2023 10:55

They discovered a uti at my first appointment and I was given this powder to mix with water and drink. Apparently it cleared me up!

Oww sorry you’ve got such a long wait till your next scan! Hope the antibiotics clear your infection asap though x

Meeting · 15/07/2023 11:24

Sorry to hear people are struggling with UTIs :(

Has anybody told anybody yet? I'm starting to think about when/who to tell. I was adamant I wasn't telling a soul until 12 weeks due to previous MC, but I'm starting to want to tell close family. I also feel like it's a bit of a spiral of once you've told this person, you have to tell that person etc and all of a sudden everyone will know!

MrsC2711 · 15/07/2023 11:48

We’ve told our parents and my best friend.
I think it’s good to have support if you can trust people. Good for childcare help if needed too x

moosey89 · 15/07/2023 12:04

I've been so emotionally all over the place that we've told loads of people because it was hard to explain why I haven't been myself, but it's not a celebration for us sharing the news, it's "I'm pregnant but it's not looking good and that's taking a toll on me, please bear with me until I know what's going on". Not exactly how I wanted to share it but for me it lessens the blow of telling people I've lost a baby (the people I would tell that to anyway). I'm glad to have the support of my close friends too during a really difficult time x

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/07/2023 12:23

We told close family and friends very early on - from six weeks ish. I hate doing the whole lying about why I can't eat and drink much and don't want to go out much. Also having had a miscarriage before, I've told the people I would want to know anyway.

Work on the other hand, I'm holding off telling as long as possible!

Un7breakable · 15/07/2023 12:57

@Meeting told my parents at 4 weeks as I'd want support if anything happened. Told two people at work at 6 weeks because the morning sickness affected work. Told my DPs family at 8 weeks after our first scan. Planning to not tell anyone else until 12 weeks.

MrsC2711 · 15/07/2023 13:20

Oh em gee I’ve found a game changer which I know won’t be for everyone but…. I’ve been craving a hot drink but gone off tea, really wanted a hot chocolate but I have a gastric bypass so too much sugar makes me sick. Yorkshire yea decaf bedtime brew is bloody lovely! A hint of herbal tea so won’t be for everyone but it’s hit the spot ❤️

In other news I’m bloody knackered, emotional and have the usual cold/sinus issues I’ve had in previous early pregnancies. Had a bit of spotting on wiping but holding out for scan tomorrow as nothing heavy at all. I thought I’d pass the first trimester away by decorating our bedroom…. Already regretting it but have the plasterer coming in today then we can crack on…. Maybe 😂a wall a night at this rate.
Happy Saturday ladies, hope it’s treating you well 😘

Kelb79 · 15/07/2023 13:20

Hey ladies! ❤️
can I join you?
I’m 8+2 from my first round of DE IVF. We’ve been TTC for 4 years, had 1 MMC and 3 rounds of failed OE IVF. So it’s been quite a journey! Cautiously over the moon but feeling quite disconnected as I’m so anxious of things going wrong like before.
Had a 7 week scan showing heartbeat and measuring 9.2mm ❤️
and am horribly nauseous from the second I wake up until I go to sleep… and soooo tired!
so it’s all going good so far and im just so grateful for every single day!
xX

Nemo145 · 15/07/2023 13:39

Those of you with a UTI, how did it feel?
random question I know but I have got a pain in my vagina area / lower abdomen that has been coming and going for a few days.
Its worrying me now. After 5 miscarriages anything worries me.
Just wondering could the pain be a UTI or things stretching or something untoward?
Anyone else with similar pain?

Nemo145 · 15/07/2023 13:39

I should have said, I’m 10 weeks today.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/07/2023 14:43

@Nemo145 I'm ten weeks on Monday and have been wondering about lower abdomen cramping and also some weird cramping tingling feeling into vagina. It's nothing too painful but noticeable. I've had a bit of lower back ache as well. I'm hoping it's stretching

Nemo145 · 15/07/2023 14:52

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 That is exactly the same as me. Hopefully it’s a 10 week thing. I’ve got another scan on Tues and first midwife apt on wed.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/07/2023 15:31

@Nemo145 Maybe it is! I've been wracking my brains to think of I had this with my son. I don't remember specifically but do remember there were lots of weird aches and niggles all over that area for quite a few weeks

Hankthehonk · 15/07/2023 15:35

When it comes to telling people I'm the same as @moosey89 - I've told quite a few folk but it's really letting them in on my anxiety rather than making a celebratory announcement. I've been at weddings and nights out not drinking and I don't have the extra energy to lie - or the energy to pretend I'm not feeling like crap. After my miscarriage I know that I'll need quite a lot of support if things go wrong again.
There's no right or wrong, this approach just feels right to me. I'm telling people close to me as I see them.

Danni33 · 15/07/2023 15:53

@Nemo145 when I had my uti I just knew it was. There wasn’t any pain but I know you can get that too, mine was just needing to pee all the time and I felt like I wasn’t emptying myself properly. I did but test strips from Tesco, I think they was only £3 but this confirmed I had the uti.
Ive got back pain now, which comes and goes but it’s not hurting me if that makes any sense? I mentioned this to my midwife aswell as tummy pains like stretching in my stomach and she said it’s all just part of it basically. I’m not as worried as I have been

C1E · 15/07/2023 15:54

I’m 8+2 and currently it’s just the two of us that know. My mum is coming to stay next weekend and we’d normally catch up over lots of wine so we’re going to tell her. Similarly to others, I’d want my mums support if things went wrong.

It does feel strange though not telling other family members - I don’t want to offend people if they think I didn’t want to tell them earlier, but equally it’s not about what other people think. Will otherwise be waiting for the 12 week scan. I day dream about how I’ll tell people though!

SmartiesParty · 15/07/2023 16:06

So despite gushing blood for the past three days I went and had a private scan today and the baby is all healthy!

There doesn't seem to be an obvious reason they could see for all the blood

The due date has also slipped into January as I'm measuring nearly a week ahead. I have my NHS dating scam in two weeks so I'll guess I'll get an official date then

MrsC2711 · 15/07/2023 16:29

Fabulous news @SmartiesParty! So pleased for you.

Congratulations @Kelb79 and welcome

those on about UTIs I also went to the drs this week thinking I had one because I felt like my bits were burning! And just didn’t feel normal lol. No uti and apparentely can be a symptom due to increased blood flow to the area…. If not a uti of course x
