Fab news @Brokenpancreas94 I do feel so much more relaxed now I've had the 20 week scan, almost like I'm on the home straight (even though it's technically only halfway lol). Baby movements have started feeling like proper kicks now which is also reassuring 😊. Yeah I seem to be the only one expecting a girl at the moment haha. Congrats on having a boy though, boys are absolutely lovely 😊

Brokenpancreas94 · 06/09/2023 20:53

@WhiteHorse92 I'm still not completely relaxed, we have to go back next week for our fetal echo again because the consultant who was scanning me couldn't tell if he has a hole in his heart, whether his chambers are all the same size, or if it was simply because he kept lifting his hand up to his chest...he wasn't behaving (consultants words) 😂 💙

tulipsunday · 06/09/2023 21:02

Congrats @HopeAndStrength -

@Brokenpancreas94 Was it just that they couldn't get a clear image of the heart due to position? My sister had to go back for a follow up scan after her 20wk recently as they couldn't check the spine fully due to baby's position. All was fine. Think they just want to be doubly sure all is well 😊

Congratulations too @HopeAndStrength 💙

@tulipsunday we could see the heart beating and the 4 chambers but she spent about 20 minutes trying to look at the blood vessels and the chambers in detail! But he kept moving his arms or he would lay in the most awkward position. She wasn't even certain herself and didn't want to say that it's all okay

ChloeN · 07/09/2023 05:48

@Brokenpancreas94 amazing news🥰 hopefully he behaves at your next scan!!🤣

suz2285 · 07/09/2023 06:00

@tulipsunday I had to go back twice too, they got everything apart from the brain and heart the first time - was in for about 45 mins! second time she only took about 20 mins to do the heart and brain and it was really fast! 😂

@HopeAndStrength welcome to the boys club! 💙

@WhiteHorse92 glad at least one of us is having a girl 😂💖

SparkleFly · 07/09/2023 08:30

I remember when I had my now 3 year old boy, the 20 week scan was mental he was doing somersaults and I had to go out in the corridor and do some star jumps to get him to move the right way. Little monkey, he's the same now, won't keep still! 🥰😂

SparkleFly · 07/09/2023 08:33

I just need reassurance that if my pregnancy symptoms have really kicked in a week after I noticed faint blood when I wiped, everything is ok isn't it?! My body wouldn't be giving me all the symptoms to be cruel if it had gone wrong?
Yesterday was my day off with 3 year old and by the time my husband came home I felt like I'd run a marathon. Absolutely exhausted and so so hungry, that's a good sign, right?
I'm terrified for Tuesday when I have my 7 week scan.

suz2285 · 07/09/2023 08:47

@SparkleFly ah yes I've done many a star jump, never makes him move 😂 I'm sure he'll be the same when he comes out, awkward and hyper like his dad 😂🙈

Eugh I wish I could say something reassuring, only that it's more likely that everything is totally fine 🤞 I really hated the early stages it's so anxiety inducing. Symptoms seem like a good sign though 🤞🤞🤞

Brokenpancreas94 · 07/09/2023 10:44

@ChloeN I hope so 😂 I thought my daughter was bad enough with her scans but nothing compared to this little monkey 😂💙
I still can't believe I'm going to have a boy!

@SparkleFly I think that's a good sign yes, but don't take my word for it incase I'm wrong, hoping I'm not though, and all is okay! ❤️

HopeAndStrength · 07/09/2023 13:58

Aww @SparkleFly I can only speak from my own experience but I had a bit of blood around week 13 and all was well.

Thank you for the lovely messages ladies, I'm excited to join boy club.

Brokenpancreas94 · 07/09/2023 17:13

@SparkleFly I had brown discharge/bleeding around 7/8 weeks and it terrified me so EPU scanned me and said that I had a bleed next to the pregnancy sac but it wasn't affecting the pregnancy, and we saw the heartbeat then too. Hope it's the same for you, but it's so scary isn't it. Sending you lots of love ❤️

SparkleFly · 07/09/2023 18:22

Thanks everyone, the only sign I ever had of m/c previously was the tiniest amount of blood post 7 weeks so as soon as I saw it at 4.5 weeks I panicked. Each time I had no proper bleeding even weeks after it happened, and had to have medical management. So I feel totally in the dark right now!
Hospital called me to check how I was doing and I explained what had happened, they said they could get me in earlier if I wanted but it wouldn't necessarily ease my mind as sometimes you can't see the heartbeat before 7 weeks so it ends up being more stressful 🥺
Less than a week to go until I'll know. Fingers crossed it will work out this time 🤞🤞🤞

Brokenpancreas94 · 07/09/2023 19:59

@SparkleFly my missed miscarriage was exactly the same, had a tiny tiny bit of brown a few days before my 12 week scan, so when I had it this time I thought the worst straight away! X

SparkleFly · 07/09/2023 20:24

@brokenpancreas94 oh that's given me a bit of hope, thank you 😘

Brokenpancreas94 · 07/09/2023 21:26

@SparkleFly I have everything crossed for you 🥰❤️

HashB · 07/09/2023 21:50

Hi all,

hope you’re all well. I almost feel like a cheat chiming in here because in comparison to some ladies, I realise I could be in a much harder position.

I had a MMC in July, and I also had a miscarriage at 19 without even realising I was pregnant. I never ever think about the miscarriage at 19, I buried it away because the whole thing was very confusing and I didn’t want to be a mum then anyway.
anyway, flip forward to today, and I have a BFP for a very much wanted pregnancy.

The thing is, after my surgery to deal with my last MC, the doctors sent me packing and told me there would be no need for any further treatment

I can’t help but think that after two miscarriages, I clearly don’t have a problem conceiving but maybe there is something wrong when it comes to staying pregnant.

Is there anything that I could ask the midwife for, test wise, that might shed some light or rule matters out?

I’ve seen in other threads that if you’ve had just one miscarriage you can now ask for progesterone, but I’ve also read a lot of women say that they’re still denied it. Does anyone know what the situation is there?

Thanks Girls xx

TheBirdintheCave · 07/09/2023 22:12

@HashB Yes you can ask your GP or local EPU for it if it's self referral.

tulipsunday · 08/09/2023 07:22

@HashB think different trusts have different protocols. I have had two miscarriages following a healthy pregnancy and they said this time round that they would give me progesterone straight away if any early pregnancy bleeding but otherwise wouldn't as didn't feel it would be a benefit.

Tommy's website has more info about progesterone and when it can be useful

Hi all, my first post here! Got a positive on Wednesday morning, wasn't expecting it as my period has been so irregular since l miscarried July last year. I'm guessing I'm around 6 weeks, as my boobs started aching 2+ weeks ago. I have a few other symptoms on and off, mostly being in a foul mood due to not sleeping well and memories coming back of my miscarriage 😣. It's lovely reading all the messages, and makes me so happy for those of you who are well into your pregnancies now!

suz2285 · 08/09/2023 10:03

@cat9 welcome! And congratulations... hope you're doing ok, it's def an anxious time in early pregnancy with a lot of feelings and emotions! I also slept rubbish at the beginning too... glad you're here ❤️

@HashB like tulip says there's so much variation in what help you get, I called the gp as soon as I found out I was pregnant again and someone called me back- not sure If gp or midwife but basically said unless I'm under the care of the EPU I wouldn't get any progesterone... it made me even more upset to have asked and be told no! But that was before these new rules, as I understand the rules you have to wait until you've had a scan with a heartbeat and baby in the right place anyway, which you'd have to go to EPU for anyway that early on... so I'm not sure if these new rules will make much difference! Even during all of our pregnancies we're all being given differing advice 🙈

HashB · 08/09/2023 10:52

@TheBirdintheCave @tulipsunday @suz2285

Thanks for your replies. I called my nearest EPU and they told me regardless of previous losses, if I wasn’t bleeding I wouldn’t be considered for progesterone so to call them back if I was to start bleeding.

I then stupidly realised my nearest EPU isn’t the hospital that gave me the surgery following my MMC, so I called them and the midwife was lovely. She has booked me in for my bloods at 6 weeks, told me from there I’ll be booked for a scan and then from there will be considered for progesterone depending on their findings.

I am sure these 2 hospitals are in different trusts which goes to show the variance.

suz2285 · 08/09/2023 11:03

@HashB that sounds a much nicer experience with the midwife and perfect that they will check you out and consider it

If it helps at all, I didn't get the progesterone and it doesn't seem to have made any difference! So I guess it really just depends what the issues are in the first place! 🤷‍♀️ but considering they don't do any tests to find out until you've been through so much loss then it's really difficult to know what the best thing to do is!

tulipsunday · 11/09/2023 12:01

@HashB that's great the midwife was supportive. Hope the wait until the scan goes quickly xx

Just sharing my experience as I went private to get the progesterone as soon as I had a light second line, as GP said in the best case nhs would give it to me after 6 weeks scan and recommended me to go private to get it straight away.
After my 7 week scan I told at the epu that I'm on progesterone from private so could they prescribe to me so I don't have to pay for private prescription what they did (weirdly double the amount so I have heaps left). I can say I'm 18 weeks pregnant now, and even if progesterone prescription wasn't the reason I got there it really helped me mentally to feel I was just doing something extra (on top of Accapuncture, weird smoothies and everything else I tried)

Wishing all the best to everyone and just believe it will happen, and if you need any mental support let GP know as I never felt in such a low mental state as I did after mc and when getting that light line.
