@J2023xx amazing news, so pleased for you

For those who've had their booking in appointment with Theo midwife, how soon after did your 12 weeks scan appointment date arrive? Or were they able to tell you in your booking in appt?

Hankthehonk · 14/08/2023 12:53

Congratulations to everyone who had good scans recently! We had our 12 week scan on Friday and everything was great. I feel such a shift, I can finally look ahead and feel excited and hopeful. I won't say the anxiety is 100% gone but it's at a low and manageable level whereas it's been dominating my life for the whole first trimester.
I have booked a 16 week scan because it seems worth it for ongoing reassurance, and we're desperate to know the sex.
I'm not going to do a social media announcement yet, maybe I will at 20 weeks. I'll be 20 weeks during baby loss awareness week so I'm thinking I might wrote something about the whole journey...Will see how I feel at the time, but reading posts like this from other women helped me with my loss.

Hankthehonk · 14/08/2023 12:55

I should say I'm not keeping quiet until 20 weeks entirely, some family and close friends already knew I was pregnant, and after the 12 week scan I told work and now just telling friends as I see/talk to them

ChloeN · 14/08/2023 15:24

@J2023xx lovely news on your scan🥰

I wasn’t going to announce on social media but then I felt almost like I wasn’t enjoying this baby because I felt bad about the one I lost? It was weird! I announced a little while after our 12 week scan. Baby girl is over 2 weeks old now🥲 I can’t believe it’s going so quick!

suz2285 · 14/08/2023 16:21

@Nmvasey85 mine was about 10 days after booking in to get my letter but everywhere is totally different 😂

@Hankthehonk great news on the 12 week scan! Def agree getting the 16 week scan is a great mid point, we did the same and now my 20 week is only a few weeks away!

We had also told close family, a couple of friends and I just told work at 16 weeks too, well I say work, 2 people plus HR! But I'm off for 2 weeks now and I've got a bump so people will figure out real fast when I go back 😂

@ChloeN hope you're all doing fine! 💖

Brokenpancreas94 · 14/08/2023 18:04

@suz2285 I don't know if it's a mix of lack of caffeine because I've cut down or poor sleep because my back and hips are so sore too! It's rained all day here but so humid! X

Brokenpancreas94 · 14/08/2023 18:46

@ChloeN it flies by once they're born 😭xx

suz2285 · 14/08/2023 19:33

@Brokenpancreas94 it's just hormones 😂 well that's what mine is anyway! And sleeping weird!

I've cut the grass and weeded the front and back garden today but my hips and back feel ok so far, see what they're like tomorrow now 😂😂

tulipsunday · 14/08/2023 19:52

Also got the achey hips. Not much fun! So glad all went well @J2023xx hope all is going well with baby girl @ChloeN

@suz2285 probably that aswell 😂il mention it Wednesday at antenatal just incase! X

Ladyinpink1 · 14/08/2023 21:15

@J2023xx so glad all went well with the scan for you, hoping you can feel a little more relaxed now and your 12 week scan comes round quick. x

Hi @ChloeN 2 weeks old! Hope you are getting lots of snuggle time and that you are starting to recover a little from the birth. x

@Brokenpancreas94 That's nice 🙂 Yes they have the balloons and cannons etc. Lots of fun ideas online x

congratulations @Hankthehonk on all going well at the scan, that's brilliant news 🙂 x

Brokenpancreas94 · 14/08/2023 21:37

@Ladyinpink1 I will have a look online!

Had my first proper kick/movement tonight, it made me jump lol! X

tulipsunday · 15/08/2023 09:48

So glad the scan went well @Hankthehonk

Aw that's exciting @Brokenpancreas94 mine gave me a fright the other day when I did a big stretch back at the time it moved 😂 gave me a shock as most movements have been quite gentle.

Had a good night sleep with the new pillow. Thankful for that as my son wasn't feeling well with cold/cough/blocked ears etc so took ages so go down 🥱

suz2285 · 15/08/2023 10:21

@tulipsunday haha yeah I'm the same mostly when I'm lying down cos I reckon it makes the skin thinner (not covered by my fat belly) and the movements feel stronger!

I got up too fast yest and felt like my uterus ripped in half so that's a good sign to move more carefully now!

Made the mistake of weighing myself a few times and considering I didn't put on anything in the first trimester I feel like I'm piling on the weight now! I'm not doing anything different to usual tho so much just be bump! 🤰🏻🤷‍♀️

Brokenpancreas94 · 15/08/2023 10:22

@tulipsunday it was a shock but also a relief to feel something as I keep getting paranoid something has gone wrong 🤦🏼‍♀️
Slept slightly better last night but I slept in my daughter's bed as her mattress is slightly firmer than ours!

sweetpotato29 · 15/08/2023 13:31

Hey all, @Hankthehonk kindly recommended this thread to me. I had a miscarriage in March which was my first ever pregnancy and have just woken up to a BFP today. It is still a faint line, but just feeling all over the place emotionally.

We have a private scan place down the road so I have them a ring and they recommended coming in on week 7 as would be able to tell more then so that's two weeks away. Not sure if I'm moving too fast with all this, but I don't want to be left in limbo again. I had a missed miscarriage last time so didn't find out until the 12 week scan which was horrendous. Reading all your posts is really helpful and reassuring, please keep everything crossed for me! 🤞🏼❤️

Brokenpancreas94 · 15/08/2023 14:24

@sweetpotato29 first of all congratulations!! It is a scary time, I had a missed miscarriage too, and only found out at the 12 week scan. I didn't have a private scan, but a lot of the ladies on here had early private scans too, so don't feel bad about having that booked! All your feelings are valid and even after the 12 week scan a lot of us if not all of us are still paranoid wrecks! Fingers crossed everything will be okay for you! Xx

Brokenpancreas94 · 15/08/2023 14:25

Apparently I'm snapping a lot 😂😬😬 so I'm in bad books, I can't tell that I'm doing it though!

suz2285 · 15/08/2023 16:37

@sweetpotato29 welcome! Your story sounds very similar to mine, first pregnancy and miscarriage in March, currently 18 weeks pregnant with our son we conceived shortly after!

All over the place emotionally is totally normal, scans are hard! I had 2 early scans before my 12 week and husband thought it was overboard but I needed the reassurance... I do thing the first 12 weeks are the hardest as it's so unknown - keeping everything crossed for you! And keep posting... we've all been there in various ways x

tulipsunday · 15/08/2023 17:42

Welcome @sweetpotato29 I had a seven week scan this time following two miscarriages and it definitely helped to bridge the gap between finding out and the 12 week scan. Have my 20wk scan next week so thankfully things seem to be going ok this time round. Will keep everything crossed for you.

Thank you all! It's such a comfort to hear from others who've been through similar & understand how it all feels. Will let you know how it goes :)

KsMumma · 16/08/2023 09:09

Does/did anyone else have symptoms that change severity? I’m just 7 weeks but for the past couple of weeks I’ve had no appetite and felt very nauseous. However the past couple of days I’ve felt hungry and am worried it means something is wrong?

suz2285 · 16/08/2023 09:59

@KsMumma yeah mine came and went, I had days of feeling horrendous and crying cos I felt awful and couldn't eat then a few days of feeling more hungry, then back to feeling rubbish, for weeks! 😂 I think it's normal for the symptoms and feelings to change all the time early on but I know what you mean it's worrying the early stages....

Hankthehonk · 16/08/2023 10:08

@sweetpotato29 glad you found this thread! As I said on the other one, the only things you can do are book scans, keep busy and take it a day at a time. Thinking of you!

Brokenpancreas94 · 16/08/2023 10:15

@KsMumma it's normal, this pregnancy has been a bloody rollercoaster for me...I've had a few days where I've felt great and then around weeks 10-13 felt horrendous again, then it settled a bit and now it's just headaches again and I'm 17 weeks! Pregnancy is a wild ride 🥱😅
