@bookbathnap exactly this, mine are big anyway so the increase is not welcomed!

I can’t wait until I have a ‘proper’ bump and it’s autumn so I can wear tights and knitted dresses with boots. I struggle with summer dressing anyway so this bloated stage isn’t enjoyable in the slightest.

Also mindful I go on holiday next week and I’m just going to look pudgy sigh

(Aware I’m just whining, but good to have an outlet!)

Beans1982 · 28/06/2023 11:06

@Mushroo Yes most definetly grown out of most of my clothes already and am only 13 +5 today. For now I've gone up a size from my usual but I'm starting to notice that even these are now starting to get a bit snug. It's my first pregnancy so I'm surprised that I'm growing this much early on, but it might be because I'm 5ft 3 and it's likely to be podge/bloating.
I've also noticed that most of the bigger fashion brand shops around me only stock Maternity clothes online 🙄Anyone else experience this?

I found an online retailer yesterday who sell maternity clothes but not sure of their quality/reputation - anyone heard or bought anything from Happymama.co.uk?

@Flower35214 I got my 20 week scan letter through the other day (it's not until 11 August so quite a wait) but yes, we want to find out the sex. I've been trying to look at my 12 week scan to try guessingbut babies legs are crossed so can't see anything.
I get a sense that I'm carrying a boy though, no idea why it's just a feeling (which will probably be end up being wrong 😆) Either way I don't mind boy or girl as long as healthy and happy.

Mushroo · 28/06/2023 11:10

@Beans1982 exactly the same, im 13+4 today but only 5ft 2 so don’t think there’s much room in there. I’ll take a look at happymama as well, be good to take any recommendations from those who have been through it before.

NoodleQueen90 · 28/06/2023 11:33

I've been in maternity stuff for a few weeks now for sitting all day at work...I got black jeans from H&M (the only maternity range I could find in store), sized up so that they last longer and I just fold the waistband down just now. Leggings and dress from new look online maternity and got a bunch of stuff from shein, some maternity and some just sized up. I've never had any boobs at all but they've been bigger from early on...most of my tops were too tight at the chest and too short from like 7-8 weeks 🙈😂 I borrowed some blouses from my mum for work and got more casual stuff from shein.

Flower35214 · 28/06/2023 12:01

I have my scan on the 27th July and will be finding out even though I'm not 100% sure I want to! We have so many boy clothes from my toddler that need sorting so best to find out!

I'm finding this stage really difficult in the sense of not looking/feeling pregnant but gaining weight! I'm just waiting on any kind of flutter or movement. I'm 16+2 but not sure what time to roughly expect first movements in second pregnancy.

SMG1992 · 28/06/2023 12:06

@Flower35214 I've got a private scan tomorrow 16+1 and will be finding out the gender but not telling anyone until after 20 weeks in case it isn't accurate!
I couldn't wait for a surprise at birth, it will still be a surprise tomorrow just 20 odd weeks earlier

wannabemum38 · 28/06/2023 12:44

@mushroo I've been living in my dresses at the moment long and shorter much more comfortable but I bought a few bits on vinted basics really a pair of jeans, a dress for my hen do and a stripey dress and a swimsuit. I also need to get some leggings. Other than that think my normal clothes will work.
We had a private scan at 16 weeks mainly to put my mind at rest we were told to close our eyes incase they showed gender as was looking at babies bits and bobs in detail. We have our 20 week scan in just over 3 weeks won't be finding out but everyone asks us! Just happy to be still pregnant at almost 17 weeks.
Telling rest of my work team next week only my manager knows at the moment.

@wannabemum38 thank you, yeh I think I need to stock up on dresses but it’s a bit chilly here atm! The hot weather was actually easier than this.

Good luck with telling work next week, I’m sure theyll be super excited for you.

FirstMondayInMay · 28/06/2023 14:04

Anybody that’s looking to get some maternity clothes, H&M have got a sale on at the minute. I’ve just ordered 3 dresses and a top online for less than £30!

They’ve got lots of cute baby bits on sale too☺️

Nclktnntt · 28/06/2023 14:35

@SMG1992 that's what they're like - I've never had indigestion but it's what I imagine it to be without the burning part people describe. I thought it would be too soon too, but it's been the last few days but every day about the same time (usually when I'm cooking my dinner).

@Flower35214 we've always said we'd like to wait, I'm semi tempted for planning purposes but my friend said to me on é and it stuck 'we don't get many true surprises in life, and this is one of them' also I don't want to only dress my child in blue or pink and my friends sons just had a little one and did a gender reveal and every single item they got given before baby was here was blue, and obv everything new now will also be blue.... which is fine, but personally I want them wearing all colours, soft colours, neutrals and yellows, and pretty boy or girls colourS, I think the fact my husbands family have kind of inset girl roles and boy roles in the house and we are both dead against that side of things that I've become over the top about it the whole thing 😂

@Mushroo oh my life yes! Nothing fits, I also can't find any decent maternity clothes in store - bras especially and I don't know what size to order so I'm falling out of my pre-pregnancy bras. I've never had much of a chest and they're annoying me, in the way when I'm trying to sleep, not so bad now the tenderness is easing but I wanted to chop them off last week 😂

@FirstMondayInMay I can't wait for autumn winter time when I can live in leggings and oversized jumpers or jumper dresses! I brought a couple bits yesterday but it's slim pickings out there, nothing maternity wise in stores , I didn't try H&M, seems to all be online which is hard because my bumps not a bump really so I don't know what to order and how they look on a soft mushy bump. Definitely going to get bits from shein though.

jadey1991 · 28/06/2023 16:55

@NoodleQueen90 aww how lovely.. I've been keeping good thanks. Although the heat has got to me. I've not had a baby so close together in age gap wise. So I think it's taking a toll on me.. how about you?

Flower35214 · 28/06/2023 17:07

@Nclktnntt I think that's such a nice saying to be fair, I agree about the whole boys/girl toys, clothes etc. They'll probably he chucked in anything hahaha

Undercoverunicorn · 28/06/2023 17:10

I'm definitely in maternity clothes, my bump is giant. I've got my clothes from DD down from the loft, but mainly autum/winter stuff so have also topped up with some summer dresses and tops. Mainly from h&m and new look this time round - I did have to order online and have had a couple of attempts of trying things and sending them back which has been annoying, but found some comfy bits to see me through 😀

DaisyMay25 · 28/06/2023 17:14

@Mushroo I'm lucky I lost 3 and a half stone before getting pregnant so still got room in my clothes now 😂

I'm not finding out the sex either, I'm having a planned section and terrified so I want something to focus on.
Family also slightly annoyed as they want to buy stuff but reminded them it's just before January sales 😂 but also there's so much neutral stuff now. A friend is currently sitting through her baby stuff and putting neutral stuff aside for us, with three friends having/had babies before me I doubt I'll need that much baby clothes new anyway!

smldnlove · 28/06/2023 19:02

@Mushroo Yep feeling very meh! Back in the office once a week and the struggle to find an outfit is really real! I actually bought a pair of maternity trousers with an elastic waist from ASOS at the weekend and they have worked so well today, have felt really comfortable and not self conscious.

Still haven’t told work so it’s floaty shirts at the moment and some of my floaty dresses getting me through.

smldnlove · 28/06/2023 19:06

@wannabemum38 I still haven’t told work! For some reason I am so nervous! Only 14+4 but a colleague announced 2 weeks ago in our small team of 4 and now I just feel like I need to give it time to breathe. Our managers also been promoted so recruiting also for him so feels like an inconvenience for them now. Probably being stupid… how were yours, excited for you I imagine?

Clucket87 · 28/06/2023 19:23

I'd been doing really well but the last few days the sickness is back with a bang. It's like my little Disco has decided that I can't forget about them.
I should be 13+3 but at my scan last week they said they thought I was 11 weeks so got another scan on Friday. I'm not leaving the group though as I will be induced at 37 or 38 weeks (hoping for 37 as would like Disco here for Christmas)
Work knows but family doesn't yet. We have a family party on Sunday and going to tell people then, as long as I don't throw up in front on anybody!
Can somebody give me some hope about this sickness please.
I think I'm just a bit frustrated as DH can hear me being sick, stays out the way and then says "that sounded like a lot" followed by "I suppose you want me to cook tea now".
Yes I bloody well do as I am growing a human and feel crap! Sorry. Just needed a vent. DH has no idea. Xx

Beans1982 · 28/06/2023 20:44

Ah @Clucket87 I feel for you! I'm 13+5 and started to feel a lot less nauseous and able to eat and enjoy some things that I haven't since being pregnant in the past week - like chocolate 😋. I still get the odd day where all of a sudden I have to run for the bathroom which is accompanied by a weird unpleasant taste in my mouth, somewhere between metalic and sour.

I have noticed though that I'm more likely to vomit if I eat porridge (weird right) or greasy/fried foods. Do you think there might be a pattern to when you feel sick?
I hope you start to feel better soon!

As for work, I've told my People manager a few weeks ago as I kept having to take time off with being sick and couldn't sit through meetings without feeling sick and drained (even though I work from home).
But I do feel that I'm now being pushed to announce so they can start to plan for my mat leave cover. I really don't want to announce to my wider team or further until I've had my blood test results back from my 12 week scan.

How did everyone receive their results? I was told during my hospital visit for the scan and blood tests that if I didn't receive a phone call in 10 days then all was good. Did anyone receive a letter with the results?

RG84 · 28/06/2023 21:44

@Beans1982 I received a letter around 10 days or so after. They will only contact you if there is a concern otherwise you will get a letter in the post. Well with my trust anyway.

Is anyone going through a phase where nothing tastes good, you don't know what you want to eat or drink. Loss of appetite really. I'm still eating as I have too but just not feeling the eating situation 😕

Also feel meh...tummy was feeling tight today if that makes sense. Nothing is fitting. Thankfully I work from home as I haven't told my work yet. This pregnancy is a little sensitive as had a MC previously hence don't want to say anything to my work yet. However I'm sure they noticed at a work event last week.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 28/06/2023 21:52

@Beans1982 I didn’t receive letter last time and imagine I won’t this time either although would be good. I just expect to find out at next midwife appointment which is a while away. It’s just a case of they’ll contact you for bad news otherwise nothing from my trust.

Charlielechat · 28/06/2023 22:28

Yeah my trust is no news unless it's bad news, but I think the midwife appointment at 16 weeks goes over blood results etc.

Anyone else been getting headaches in pregnancy? I've had 3 this week. And the occasional one at other times I'm probably not drinking enough water. I took x2 paracetamol one night this week but have just suffered through the rest!

Georgia31 · 29/06/2023 00:32

Has anyone had a bleeding and everything been OK? Sat on My own in A&E, feeling a little sorry for myself and guess I'm just seeking some reassurance

Nclktnntt · 29/06/2023 05:27

Oh @Georgia31 I'm so sorry your going through this stress, I really hope everything is ok. Fingers and toes crossed for you🤞

NoodleQueen90 · 29/06/2023 05:55

At my scan they said they would phone within 7 days with the screening results if there was anything to worry about but my results were uploaded to badger notes 3 days later and everything was low risk. No letter for me. I think all trusts are different.
@Georgia31 hope you've been seen and everything is ok. Thinking of you x

Georgia31 · 29/06/2023 06:01

Thank you, still waiting to be seen. Still bleeding, just not as much. I'm exhausted, I came here straight from work last night.

I hope everyone else is OK
