What are people doing about the covid booster? I've only ever had two boosters and wasn't planning on anymore, but just remembered the midwife mentioned at my booking appointment they advised a booster jab

Beans1982 · 26/06/2023 17:13

Yey I found thread No. 4! I wondered why it had all gone very quiet.

@Nclktnntt Glad your scan went well! I had mine last Wednesday and had to jiggle around quite a bit/go to the toilet to get baby to turn but he/she didn't want to play ball. Baby was upside down but was moving and all seemed okay.
Just waiting for blood test results to come through now.
New due date for me as well, 29 December.

Can't believe the second trimester is already here! I hope morning sickness symptoms have eased or at least are beginning to ease for everyone who's been suffering!!❤Mine seems to be slowly easing up for the first time since around week 5.
Not sure if I have a bump yet, I've been permanently bloated since finding out I was pregnant but my boobs are definitely bigger.

I read somewhere that you may be able to feel movement from as early as week 13, but think this only applies if it's not your first pregnancy - Has anyone felt any early movements yet?

NoodleQueen90 · 26/06/2023 17:33

@Beans1982 I've not felt anything yet but it's my first...some people have said that if you've already had one then you feel it earlier because you know what to look out for but I don't see how this can be the reason 😂 if I felt anything at all I'd be thinking it was the baby and trust me I've been paying close attention...I think it's more likely to be an anatomical reason? Just like people tend to get a bump earlier with 2nd onwards compared to first. Could be wrong but that's just my thoughts. I'm really looking forward to being able to feel the baby though, it will be a reassurance every day instead of weeks at a time not knowing how things are!

smldnlove · 26/06/2023 18:40

Wow can’t believe we are talking about nursery already, scary! We have to move house first (in the process now but still a few months away) so wondering if they will accept our enquiry bare in mind we don’t live in the area yet. Planning to do 10 months maternity, then transition to grandparents/nursery.

Has everyone now told work?

Pitstop1986 · 26/06/2023 21:15

I felt movement for a couple of weeks, but haven't felt anything for a week or so now. I just presume that baby has wriggled itself into a corner and is all tucked up for now. It's still very early- I'm 16+4 with baby 2 so it's still tiny in there. Was definitely more reassuring when I was feeling regular flutters though!

As for cravings, mine is chocolate. Dark, milk and white, in cake form, as chocolate overnight oats and as a brownie. Can't get through the day without something chocolaty, or I can barely function for thinking about it!

Nclktnntt · 26/06/2023 21:36

Charlielechat · 25/06/2023 14:50

I definitely don't have a bump (13 weeks) but have definitely put on weight! Nothing fits me round the middle and hasn't done for weeks 🙈 Have gone up a cup size too!
Someone said your ribcage expands in pregnancy...can this happen without a bump? 😂

Hi - your rib cage does expand because your diaphragm moves up higher to make room for everything moving up the way - I was reading about this today

Nclktnntt · 26/06/2023 21:38

My mom and husband think I'm showing, there's a definite bump but it's just that fluffy squishy bump so I just feel I've put weight on my tummy only 😂

ThomasinaLivesHere · 27/06/2023 16:23

@Beans1982 Occasionally I’ve felt something but don’t know if it’s genuinely the baby. After I gave birth for a few months I felt phantom kicks.

Luckily where I am there are nursery places. It’s crazy that some people have to plan that far ahead.

Nclktnntt · 27/06/2023 20:35

Anyone getting hiccups as a symptom? But not normal hiccups, you know when you eat a burger and take a drink and hiccup... like that but way after I've eaten anything! They're really annoying.

Undercoverunicorn · 27/06/2023 20:58

@Flowers90 hope your leg pain is easing. Worth mentioning to your midwife and perhaps asking for a physio referral. I'm getting lots of stabbing pains in my vulva/vagina/buttock area and v worried its the start of spd again...I had it really badly last pregnancy from about week 34 and I was on crutches (which also messed with my birth plan). Covid made it more manageable with wfh but won't be easy this time with a toddler and working 4 days in ventral London with an 1hr+ commute each way 😢

@Beans1982 I've been feeling some movements, but like others this is my 2nd

@NoodleQueen90 I think feeling movements earlier in 2nd pregnancy is also to do with everything being a bit looser already 😅

@17caterpillars1mouse if I'm offered the booster I'll take it, just as I will the other vaccinations. I ended up with quite a few boosters before as I had a PE after birth and was deemed vulnerable. Are you worried about it particularly?

wannabemum38 · 27/06/2023 21:07

I already had my 3 doses of covid so don't need anymore. But what I will say is that in my last pregnancy during covid (ended up a MC) I was advised to get the covid vaccine but in 2nd trimester which we all are now I think. Reason being that as we are due in winter when covid infections rise if we were to catch it obviously our lung capacity is reduced because of baby so could be an issue with breathing and end up in hospital. But I debated for a long time about having it done as such a new vaccine it's a very personal choice.
I need to have my whooping cough and then flu as soon as I can. I found out my baby.is rhesus negative like me so I don't need anymore anti d injections which is something.

@Undercoverunicorn leg pain still bad. I've been day off today but have struggled with my toddler. I work in a physical job too, so hoping it doesn't impact on work. I hope your pain eases soon and that it isn't spd. Will mention to the midwife, I'm not due to see her for another 2 weeks but will call if it doesn't ease by the weekend.

Justanothercyster · 27/06/2023 21:38

@Pitstop1986 crazy how cravings all differ, I'm usually a chocoholic but can't stand the stuff now!

@Nclktnntt could well be! This is me a couple of weeks ago, not even 14 weeks 🙈 bigger now!

jadey1991 · 27/06/2023 22:52

Hello can I jump on. I'm 16 weeks today with my 4th baby.. due 13th December

FirstMondayInMay · 27/06/2023 23:18

Had my 16 week consultant appointment today, cheekily asked the doctor to listen in to baby’s heart rate because I hadn’t heard it yet. Was really surprised that she was able to find it so quickly!

NoodleQueen90 · 28/06/2023 07:36

@jadey1991 snap, same due date but only my 1st lol 😊 welcome!
How have you been keeping?
@Undercoverunicorn yeah I'm sure it will be something like that, I sometimes feel like I have gas and wonder if it's actually the baby I can feel but then 5 mins later im like...nope, just more gas 😂 so glamorous this pregnancy business!

Nclktnntt · 28/06/2023 07:39

@Justanothercyster mines similar, a little smaller but similar shape, I'm 14 wks today. I was surprised because I'm tall 5'8" and it's my first and everything I've read suggests I'd show later. I don't fully get the tall part because our organs grow to the size of our body surly, so there's still no space lol.

Pitstop1986 I'm the same as @Justanothercyster normally a chocoholic, or when having puddings I go for chocolate sickly but I've not wanted any! I've gone off more than I've wanted, I've gone off all my normal foods and drinks and the only thing I've actually craved is really cold water.. I also don't like tape water, and even more so now so I've had to get a britta filter for the fridge 😂 normally I wouldn't want cold anything!

Couldn't find the covid question to tag you, but I've had all 3 and if they offered me a fourth I'd take it. I'll have the flu one too. Do you have concerns around it?

Nclktnntt · 28/06/2023 07:39

jadey1991 · 27/06/2023 22:52

Hello can I jump on. I'm 16 weeks today with my 4th baby.. due 13th December

Welcome 🤗

SMG1992 · 28/06/2023 07:56

@Nclktnntt I have the hiccups symptom too! It is odd it's a bit like indigestion but without having eaten anything.
It feels too early for the pregnancy to affect our diaphragm but who knows

bookbathnap · 28/06/2023 09:20

I’m 17+4 today and the symptoms are finally easing so to anyone who’s struggling, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I remember feeling like the sickness and exhaustion would never end! I have a small bump and have been feeling feathery tickles which I think is the baby wiggling around.

Have had some pain in the sides of my bum which is apparently quite common in pregnancy 😂.

How’s everyone coping with social events? I’m finding them hard after a couple of hours. Everyone wants to ask questions about the pregnancy which is lovely but draining also. I feel a bit like public property sometimes. Wishing everyone on the thread healthy and happy pregnancies.

Flower35214 · 28/06/2023 09:48

@bookbathnap I get what you mean about the public property haha. I'm social awkward at the best of times so am finding it difficult!

I know the 20 week scan is quite a while away but has anyone decided if they're going to find out the sex? I know the 20 week scan isn't primarily for that but..

ThomasinaLivesHere · 28/06/2023 10:14

@Flower35214 I just got my letter for 20 week scan yesterday 😊 and we are planning on finding out the sex. We waited until birth for first pregnancy and since it ended up in an emergency section there was no nice moment of finding out like I hoped for. I was just relieved everything was ok.

NoodleQueen90 · 28/06/2023 10:39

My 20 week scan is on 26th July but we're not finding out. Lots of friends/family are frustrated as they want to know 😂 but we want to keep it a surprise so tough!
Quite a few people in another group I'm in have private gender scans at 16 weeks for those who are desperate to find out.

Mushroo · 28/06/2023 10:43

Is anyone else already finding their clothes don’t fit? I’m feeling a bit meh / fat / gross today and have a big meeting at work tomorrow which isn’t helping.

It’s not even really bump, but my jeans are tight around the waist and my boobs are massive so anything fitted on the top half is just tight and uncomfortable.

It feels early to be buying maternity clothes (especially as I don’t want to spend loads on summer wear). Spending the day in leggings and a t shirt but feel like a slob.

Anyone else the same? I know the answer is buy some new stuff but just needed a moan! Should buy some shares in h and m maternity!

bookbathnap · 28/06/2023 10:46

I didn’t realise my boobs had got bigger until I popped out of a button up dress the other day. It’s not fair, they were already huge before pregnancy ☹️. Stretchy dresses and leggings are my best friends at the moment.
