@WitcheryDivine Was just thinking because it's the middle of the day on Tuesday and I've already used the Doctor's excuse twice in the past week, I feel terrible lying!

Matildahoney · 28/06/2023 13:13

I work in a small team and everyone knew I had miscarried, so knew we were trying, plus I was on a meal replacement diet which I said I'd only stop once I'd lost the weight I wanted to lose or fall pregnant! So they have all known since I was 5 weeks!! Scan finally on Mon at 13+5!!! So scared it's going to be bad news

Lraine86 · 28/06/2023 13:47

Tell me about I haven’t been in 8 weeks and debating cancelling my membership as I prefer walking or swimming atm. Well done you though 💪🏾🏋🏾‍♀️

CarnelianArtist · 28/06/2023 13:58

@Matildahoney so sorry you had a miscarriage. I hope your scan goes well ❤️

@greengreensummer I was nervous telling my boss, but I emailed him because I was ill. He was very nice about it but being older he said, do people normally tell people at what, 20 weeks (I told him at 9). And I just felt a bit daft. But never mind. You just tell them when you want to. I'll probably tell the team between 12 and 16 weeks.

@Kalodin I didn't have time to get or make curry. I just made a quick lentil chilli instead. Twas good. Well done for going to the gym. I hardly feel up to exercise, just a bit of walking a 10 mins yoga.

Hi all, hope we’re all doing well. Lovely to see so many scans popping up!

I have my scan next week. Hoping some of you lovely lot can help me out… I’ve been given no information as to whether blood will be taken for the screening at the same time as my scan. Should I have heard about that? Or will it be a separate appointment another time that I just haven’t got a date for? Or…would they use the blood I had taken at my booking appointment?? So many questions I know! Just feeling super nervous about screening results and would like to know the outcome asap.

I had said yes to screening but didn't get any info about bloods - when I went for my scan the sonographer told me that I'd have to wait and have blood taken afterwards which tbh I'd completely forgotten about. So don't worry they'll tell you what to do.

sashastuck · 28/06/2023 15:39

Congratulations @greengreensummer ! I felt exactly the same about telling my Head at school but she was lovely and I haven’t even spoken to her/seen her much since so haven’t felt awkward 😂 I do feel nervous about telling my line manager, no idea why, his partner is also a teacher and they have a toddler so will completely understand. But it’s just like… HOW do I bring it up?

sat in the waiting room for my scan now! I came half an hour early and they tried to bring me in but my partner is still on his way so I’ve stalled … hopefully he comes asap!!

suz2285 · 28/06/2023 16:13

@RaspberryTime I asked my midwife last week the same thing, she said they'll fake bloods for screening at the scan, other bloods they take at the midwife were just for full blood counts etc but I reckon it might not be the same everywhere!! 😂

I got asked by the Sonographer if I wanted the screening. She measured the fluid then I had my blood taken afterwards 😊

RG9895 · 28/06/2023 16:31

How quickly did you all get your results back for the combined screening after the scan and bloods?

FirstT1meMum · 28/06/2023 16:32

Currently sat in the dentists waiting room feeling the most nauseous I have for 12 weeks! Felt really sick all afternoon. Hoping it's just nerves for the dentist and my scan tomorrow combining! 🤞

Hope all goes well for your scan @sashastuck and DP made it!

Mushroo · 28/06/2023 16:40

@RG9895 they told me I’d get a call within 7 days if bad news, and could be up to 2 weeks otherwise, but I got the official results (good news) today at 8 days post the scan.

I think generally if it’s bad they do tell you asap, my letter was dated 22 June (2 days after the scan) so suspect I’d have got the call then.

greengreensummer · 28/06/2023 16:53

@sashastuck haha that's exactly it, it's just a how do I even start that conversation! It's weird because I know they'll be really happy for me and really supportive so I don't know why I'm so nervous!

Hope it went well with your scan!

CarnelianArtist · 28/06/2023 16:55

I mentioned in a separate post that I feel really anxious since pregnancy. It's not really about the babies health which would be more rational. But I just feel this sense of doom like something is about to go wrong. We've had issues with our new house but I'm blowing it out of proportion and having nightmares. I didn't have this with my 1st pregnancy.

I'm taking deep breaths which helps but are there other things I can do? I wonder if its exacerbated by remote working. Any advice?

Mummyme87 · 28/06/2023 17:10

Daily naps is definitely a thing for me right now. Just dosed for an hour post school run on the sofa and felt so much better for it.

@sashastuck good luck for scan. Hope it’s going well!

Luhou · 28/06/2023 17:23

Did people take a urine sample to their booking or do it there? I know to take one but haven't got a pot to piss in 🤣

Hummusanddipdip · 28/06/2023 17:50

@Luhou they'll give you one there if you don't take one (I forgot to)

I understand the sense of doom @CarnelianArtist I sat in the car with dh this evening and said can we actually afford to do this? My wages are no longer surplus to requirement and now almost being completely swalled by household expenses. I'm a ta, so on a low wage already, he's on a good wage, but not loads. We've been talking about getting a second car, and then there's nursery fees when I go back to work. It's made me feel really sad that I think I'll be back at work in September because money...

I'm scared we won't survive, but then I know we will make it work, but right now, it's scary.

sashastuck · 28/06/2023 17:57

Thank you @Mummyme87 @greengreensummer @FirstT1meMum - scan went really well! It was a long one, baby was not cooperating but all good. New date 4th Jan 😍

Here’s a picture for anyone interested in nub/skull theories! I’m not sure at all!

Due January 2024 🎉 PART 3
sashastuck · 28/06/2023 17:57

@Luhou did mine there!

suz2285 · 28/06/2023 18:07

@Hummusanddipdip I haven't even started thinking about all that yet, but everyone says 'you'll cope' and it's true, people do, I think I'm in a better financial position and older than my parents were when I was born! But we live in a small 1 bed flat but we'll make it work 😂 everyone's got different challenges and circumstance! My mum slept in a drawer when she was born as she already had 4 siblings 😂

@sashastuck yey for another great scan! Can't see the nub on that one (not that I'm any good with those anyway!) I've just been googling gender scans today 😂 impatient!

@Luhou my midwife gave me a pot to take back next time, but I'm sure they'll just do one there if you don't bring!

RaspberryTime · 28/06/2023 18:24

@WitcheryDivine @suz2285 @MrsJ6921 Thanks for sharing, hearing other experiences on here is always so reassuring.

Hummusanddipdip · 28/06/2023 18:32

I know @suz2285 I think it's the doom and gloom of CoL impacting me and making me anxious. I think it was the realisation that we've had a year of no nursery costs (bar food) for ds as funding kicked in last Sept. But from this September we'll have to find the money for wrap around care with school (at least it'll only be until Christmas) and then when I go back to work it'll be nursery costs in addition... it wouldn't be so bad if we hadn't moved house last year 🤣 but we moved so we had space for a second child 🤣 catch 22s suck!!!!

Mushroo · 28/06/2023 18:43

@Hummusanddipdip i feel the same about cost of living. Where we currently live we can make it work but we need to move (currently in. A flat with no garden) and the bigger mortgage plus nursery fees is freaking me out.

I think I’ll need to get a new job but the step up I’ll need to take will be a LOT of extra stress and I just don’t want to.

Im sure it’ll all work out but prices need to stop rising!

FirstT1meMum · 28/06/2023 19:24

@sashastuck amazing news! What a gorgeous scan picture 😍🥰

CarnelianArtist · 28/06/2023 19:52

@sashastuck what a lovely scan picture, it's very clear. Cute little cheeks.
