Just started a previous thread where I mentioned we are going to start TTC towards the end of this year if things go to plan.

Really interested to know how old people were when they started trying to conceive? We are 25, 26 in February. Do you think this is young?

Bluelightbaby · 30/05/2023 22:35

24 and conceived on my honeymoon ! Then 27 with my second. Both times conceived first month of trying

now 43 and been TTC with new partner for 18months without success

dammiejodger · 30/05/2023 22:40

I was 28 when I fell pregnant with DS, we weren't trying as such... I'd come off the pill and just thought we'd see what happens, I was around 8 weeks when I found out. Took around 5 months coming off the pill without tracking anything, hence me not noticing missing two periods Smile he's nearly 7 going on 17!

I was 32 when I fell pregnant with DD, but this was after two losses and knowing my cycle inside out TTC desperately. Thankfully she stuck despite an absolutely awful pregnancy, I look at her everyday and wonder how I got through it - and her to be honest!

No more kids now. I couldn't handle a third. Although I do look at newborns and feel sad I'll never have that again... or breastfeed... but no way 😂

dammiejodger · 30/05/2023 22:41

Oh and my DH was 32 or 33 with DS and 36 or 37 with DD

Vintagecreamandcottagepie · 30/05/2023 22:42

Three in mid to late thirties after meeting the love of my life. Fortunate to conceive straight away each time.

No regrets, it is what it is and we are very happy. I'm not bothered what other families do, it's not my business.

Don't get anyone judging anyone else's choices or lives.

I do see more judgement around having babies later on mumsnet than younger though. People pile on to give the same old crap about older mums especially.

Wish we'd all just be happy for each other really.

Twenties is a great age to conceive, so is 40! It's swings and roundabouts, we all have strengths and weaknesses, some age related, some not.

In answer to your question, you aren't young to be having children especially if settled.

Tulip2478 · 30/05/2023 22:42

Doesn't sound too young to me at all if you feel ready. I was 27 he was 43, concieved straight away.
Good luck.

RhosynBach · 30/05/2023 22:44

No it’s not that young. We were 26 for child one and 29 for child two which seemed quite standard for lots of my friends. I Think under 25 is young but not over 25

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 30/05/2023 22:46

20s would have been way too young for me. I travelled the world in my 20s and
30s. Had baby in 40s. But everyone is different. If you're ready now, you're ready. Just do what feels right for you.

Moro93 · 30/05/2023 22:47

I was 23 when my first was born. It wasn’t planned though (torn condom and morning after pill fail). Then we started TTC after getting married and I conceived on the 3rd cycle, I was 24 and the baby was born when I was 25.
We wanted to have another without a huge age gap and knew there was no guarantee we’d conceive quickly, now we have a 2 and a half year age gap between ours.

My husband has now had a vasectomy as we only wanted 2. I don’t regret having them young and love them to bits. I do sometimes wish we’d waited a while longer so we had more time just us before kids. But I think that when I’m 43 they’ll be 18 and 20 so maybe it did work out for the better.

TakeMeDancingNakedInTheRain · 30/05/2023 22:50

31 conceived first month. Bit of an odd thing to put a trigger warning on?! As for whether it seems young, for me yes 25/26 is very young, I spent my 20s at uni/travelling/enjoying life I'd have never have wanted to be tied down with kids so young and I met my husband aged 20. Are you sure you want to be so young? I'd do some travelling and enjoy your time together for a few more years, once you have kids life just revolves around them, I miss my fun carefree 20s!

blinkineckers · 30/05/2023 22:50

We were
19 and 22

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 30/05/2023 22:50

I was 25 when I had my first child, 31 years ago.

My mum was 36 when she had me 56 years ago.

Feel like it's the wrong way round by today's attitudes. Grin

Hellocatshome · 30/05/2023 22:54

22 when we started trying 23 when 1st was born. People thought we were too young but I'm 40 at the end of this year and looking at only a couple more years before they are all through school and I can concentrate on me again to a certain extent anyway.

Madmax1992 · 30/05/2023 22:56

Had first at 21, second at 24 and surprise 3rd baby at 30 x

Teddybearspicnic3 · 30/05/2023 23:00

I was 29 (happened first month of TTC) and DP was 29- sadly had a MMC at 10 weeks. Fell pregnant again at 30 and was 31 when DS was born (he was due a week before my birthday but he was late and I ended up getting induced on my birthday and he was born the day after so I spent my birthday in labour!)

Shinyandnew1 · 30/05/2023 23:03

I was 24 and DH 28 when we started trying. We had both finished university, qualified and settled in jobs, married and had bought a house so felt in a good place to start trying.

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 30/05/2023 23:06

19 but I have PCOS and had many years of infertility and five miscarriages to follow

DorritLittle · 30/05/2023 23:09

I was 31. I think it was about right for me. I was 32 when she was born. Sometimes I think I was too young as I wasn’t really that sorted even then. My mum thought I was ancient.

Hummusanddipdip · 30/05/2023 23:12

25, I was almost 29 when ds was born. Now 32 with number 2 on the way, started trying at 30 because we knew it'd take time to get here.

I recently turned 27. I went to university and I’ve established my career. I’ve had fun. Been with DP for several years (same age as me). Baby will be here soon! Mid-20s is definitely not ‘very young.’ A woman’s fertility declines in her 30s, especially the latter half.

Flymetothemoon2000 · 30/05/2023 23:43

We were 24 but I didn't have our baby until I was 26 (first was a stillbirth unfortunately)

HecticHedgehog · 30/05/2023 23:45

20

FuckNuggets · 30/05/2023 23:46

TTC at 19, conceived at 22. Lost it, and had first successful pregnancy at 24.

DelurkingAJ · 30/05/2023 23:49

31, conceived instantly. Then 35, took 6 months.

Vintagecreamandcottagepie · 31/05/2023 00:03

Op, I'm curious why you think anyone would think 26 is young to have a baby..??

Seems a bit of a wierd question. To ask if we think 26 is young to have a baby. Not sire why you assume anyone would 🤔
