Thought I'd start a new one as the old one is full!

I'm 37w exactly and definitely starting to feel more Braxton Hicks (they woke me up last night) but they don't seem to be getting more intense/frequent. Also a bit of lower back ache and general bump tenderness, plus I think I've lost a small bit of my mucus plug. Think this is probably normal at this stage and just my body gearing up for labour but am quite nervous as have a c section at 38+3 and hoping to last till then! Second pregnancy but last baby arrived at 36w so feels like uncharted territory!

How is everyone else feeling?

@hanc66 mine is 11 and a half weeks, EBF and still has very loose poop, I'd say around 6-8 per day, sometimes more! In the beginning it felt like every trump had a bit of follow through but that's calmed down a bit now. Doesn't sound that unusual if otherwise she's all well, but maybe speak to your health visitor if worried?

Thanks for your reply :)

Yeh she's very well in herself and a very good weight so no concerns there. I did discuss with my HV but she wasn't that helpful to be honest.

Via my GP I decided to go dairy free for 3 weeks to see if this would make any difference - along with a bad case of nappy rash. We've managed to crack the nappy rash with a miracle cream but the poops are still the same, therefore I'm thinking it's unlikely a CMPA. I know there are other sources of allergy but she's asymptomatic aside from the amount of poops, so hopefully just normal for her and will settle soon 🤞

@Zaalfruit gorgeous photo! Dd lost some hair on the side of her head and when I mentioned it to health visitor she said it was probably from where she sleeping on her side.

Ebf and poo every 4/5 days!!! I didn't think it was normal but GP said it's normal..

Oh I'd be happy with 4/5 per day let alone every 4/5 days 🙈🤣

BobbySD345 · 20/08/2023 22:16

@hanc66 I would say we get around 5 or 6 dirty per day. We are EBF.

Is anyone else EBF finding that the poos are green? She is 10 weeks old and becoming fussy after around 5 minutes feeding. I'm worried she's only getting the fore milk and no hind milk hence the green poop but she will not latch after around 5 mins these days. Starts pushing off me arching her back and crying. I posted further down about this but it's still happening.

Jealous of anyone who has a partner who shares the night feeds etc. He can't do the feeds as EBF but he could help witn the nappies or get up with her once she's had a 5 or 6am feed for a hour or so. It's all on me. He works full time but he doesn't help at the weekends either.

hanc66 · 20/08/2023 22:24

@BobbySD345

Funny you should say this as I was wondering if my DD is getting too much foremilk due to the loose/frequency of poos, but also as they are green on occasion (like the last one tonight). I've just done some reading on "block feeding", I'm not sure if that may help?

I'm sorry your partner isn't helping too much in the mornings, have you spoken to him about it? We were just saying yesterday that team work is definitely what's got us through the last 10 weeks. I do the night time nappy as she is only up once and I do that after her feed anyway, but he will take her downstairs in the mornings (when he's on shifts that allow, or days off), and let me have a couple of extra hours which really helps.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 21/08/2023 06:29

@Zaalfruit we formula feed and DD is unpredictable with quantity. 6oz at 6 am, and the 3-4 oz every fee hours. A larger feed at 6pm and 5oz at 10pm.

Kelvie103 · 21/08/2023 09:39

@Zaalfruit Matthew has been exclusively on formula from 3 weeks, he's 8 weeks today and has around 180ml/6oz every 2-3 hours during the day. He's a little pig, he's a big boy though, 75th %ile in weight. He did have a couple of days during his 6 week growth spurt where he was wanting small amounts every hour though which was horrible with the non stop bottle washing. We make up around 4 bottles at a time in advance and keep in the fridge, then microwave 30-45 seconds when needed and give a good swish around. I know it's against guidelines but it's so much easier and works well for us. He can go from smiling to screaming red in the face literally in seconds for milk so we have to be quick!

I swear he doesn't look only 8 weeks. So grown up here!

Mummy2Girls2 · 21/08/2023 10:07

@hanc66 ebf here aswel and still having lots of dirty nappies like when he was newborn he had 11 yesterday! Also recently a fair few greens ones, we've also had dome days without pooing and lots if crying but the next day he definitely makes up for it 🤣 he's now 8 weeks.
@Zaalfruit both my first 2 lost their hair at the back, the rubbed it off sleeping I'm sure it will happen again this time around 🙁

BobbySD345 · 21/08/2023 12:11

@hanc66 My plan is to express to empty today and tomorrow as much as possible and see if the poos go back to yellow. Then I'll know if it's a fore/hind milk issue and can potentially rule it out. Just finding the time to express in between feeds plus for everything else in is a bit of a nightmare !

Is everyone here using the newborn bassinet/carrycot thing on the pram still or are some of you using the upright but tilted back?

BobbySD345 · 21/08/2023 12:12

@Zaalfruit our girl has hardly any hair at the back. It's quite common due to them being constantly lay down early on. Our Son was the same!

firsttimelondonmummy · 21/08/2023 12:59

@hanc66 our nappies are only just settling down now at 11 weeks and he still has 8/9 wet and poo just the poops are a lot smaller.

Also can’t remember who asked about routine but we only really have an evening one.
Bath at 8pm ish (just water 4/7 days), massage, into bed clothes, nurse and read to him then down he goes (however sometimes this does take 2/3 hours 🤣)

He’s also growing insanely quickly 🥹

@BobbySD345 we bought a new buggy recently and didn't get the bassinet part.
DD is nearly 11 weeks. She loves sitting up a bit then I recline it when she drops off

Ally1992 · 21/08/2023 13:23

@BobbySD345 I stopped using the bassinet attachment a couple of weeks ago, and now use upright laid flat mainly because his body is just too long now 😅 had to put the moses basket away today as well but he’s 13 weeks now so we
got some good use out of it!

Such cute pictures of everyone’s babies! It’s lovely to see them all grown up now.

We're also EBF at the moment but I’m putting her to the breast first and then expressing my milk and giving that to her in a bottle. She still hasn’t quite mastered breastfeeding even at 8 weeks old and has a hard time emptying my breast so I’m expressing to maintain my supply as I did struggle with low supply to begin with. I'm really determined to breastfeed her so I hope I won’t have to continue with pumping milk for long and I can just feed her directly from my breast. She’s at the 50th percentile for wright so I’m happy about that ♥️

HasHus86 · 21/08/2023 14:37

Here’s a little picture of her now

@DrinkingAllTheGin What a cutie! Which model pram is this and is it in 2 parts or one unit? I fancy getting something that all folds down in one. We have an iCandy Peach but it takes up so much space in the boot. I feel uncomfortable trying her in the upright so soon but I bet she would like to have a look round. I might give it a go in a couple of weeks as she will be 3 months then.

@Kelvie103 Just seen your post with the pic - he does look so grown up ! Looks like he's sussing the place out sat there lol.

@Ally1992 I love seeing all these pics! So sweet ❤️ We are almost at the end of the moses basket too. I reckon two more weeks tops. It's so cute that I'll be sad when she doesnt fit in it. She sleeps well in it too, we have it downstairs for naps.

I tried her in a bouncer today for the first time with a toy bar attached and she's been punching the toys. It was so funny to watch. They're growing up so fast !

So many cute babies 🥰
DS is only 7 weeks but he’s a chunk and really long, already in size 3-6 month clothes, and I don’t think we’re going to get much more time in the Moses basket. This may be a stupid question but where is he meant to nap once he outgrows the basket? During the night, he sleeps in his next to me, but he’s too little to be put upstairs for a day nap so where does he go? He’s also nearly too heavy for his pram bassinet so won’t be able to rely on that for day naps. I’m thinking maybe a travel cot? Or does anyone have any recommendations?

hanc66 · 21/08/2023 17:25

@Mummy2Girls22 @firstfirsttimelondonmummy

Oh it's good to know I'm not alone! The last couple days she's reduced to 8/9 dirty nappies with most on a much smaller scale (can always guarantee one poonami a day!) So hopefully we are turning a corner 🤞
Are yours still loose/runny?

As for routine we don't have one as such except for bed time. We go up to bed at 9pm, change and feed then off to sleep about 945. She'll sleep til around 2 for a feed (which generally only lasts 15/20mins) and change and then sleeps again til 6.

BobbySD345 · 21/08/2023 17:49

@Hoppyhops We have a sleepyhead which unclips at the bottom once they're a bit big but it's only any good if you have a safe pet and child free area to position it on. We used to put our DS on the sofa in it when he couldn't roll and he would nap really nicely. We can't do that now as we have 2 cats and he is now 3 and I wouldn't trust him not to dive on her lol.
The next step is a crib or a next2me sized cot if you wanted something in between a moses and a travel cot. My friend had a lovely wooden crib which was around the size of a next2me in her lounge/diner.

Ally1992 · 21/08/2023 17:58

@Hoppyhops we just got a travel cot, it comes with a bassinet attachment and we’ll use it as a playpen when he starts crawling

DrinkingAllTheGin · 21/08/2023 21:39

@BobbySD345 it's a nuna mixx next Pushchair.
It is in 2 parts so you can switch from parent facing to world facing but you can fold in one but in 2 I can get the wheel unit in the boot of my C1 and the seat in the rear footwell.

rllrsk8 · 22/08/2023 04:35

@BobbySD345 we switched from the bassinet to the main seat too - a few weeks ago at 9 weeks. Still facing towards us. Our little one is much more settled in it when we're out and about - he doesn't bounce around as much as he's strapped in, and likes looking around. The Nuna seat is technically able to be used from birth because it can go flat, but it works better for us because we live on a big hill - in the bassinet I always felt like he must have been really uncomfortable with his head much lower than the rest of him!

As for using the bassinet for daytime naps - he will only sleep for any length of time when moving or on someone during the day and I embrace the snuggles. Maybe one day I'll regret it but I'd rather he has good sleep and be happy. He sleeps fine in next to me at night.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 22/08/2023 06:54

Dd2 now 5 month. She’s started last few nights going down at 11-12 and sleeping until 7. It’s much better for us so I’m not complaining but she doesn’t sleep hardly at all during day between lunch and bedtime. Last night I managed to get her down for 9 and she slept until 5. She’s just going down again now. She weighs 14lb now and has had been trying to blow raspberries. She’s still not using her hands but is smiling so much.

Here’s the little ginger. A perfect clone of her big sister.

Aww so many cute babies, its lovely to see them all doing so well. Doesn't feel like long ago at all we were all pregnant.

Matthew is terrible at napping in the day time. I get so stressed about it as he gets so overtired and grouchy every evening. He'll only fall asleep on me and wakes up when I put him down even when he's in a deep sleep. I've tried moses basket, swing chair, just lying him next to me on the sofa, putting him in his crib upstairs with blackout curtains and a noise machine on and nothing will get him to go off. Luckily sleeps quite well at night or I would be going mental. Getting alot of netflix time but not much else. 😂Hoping he'll grow out of it as I really don't want him to get in the habit of only sleeping on me as its not sustainable.

BobbySD345 · 22/08/2023 09:02

@Kelvie103 We had this with our 1st. I was constantly nap trapper. You'd think he was in a deep sleep and then move him and he'd be wide awake. Like you say you get to catch up in TV though hehe. Just remember to go for a wee and get the TV remote - made that mistake a lot !
